Shower gel - best luxury product

Please let me know, have you GENUINELY found a shower gel you love and think yes this is worth £20+? I'm really into luxury makeup and candles but shower gel I don't really know much about

The Occitane almond oil shower gel is absolutely lovely. I’ve never thought it for myself but I’ve had it as a gift and as part of a GWP. I use bar soap, so no shower gel would be worth buying to me at any price, but it’s gorgeous.

wizarddry · 01/06/2024 09:31

Thank you I've seen that one so I'll give it a go.

I was given some Molten Brown pink pepper shower gel for Christmas which is nice.

BringMeTea · 01/06/2024 09:49

Acqua di parma.

Does it smell almondy? I’m thinking this might cure my nostalgic craving for vidal sasson shampoo from the 80’s which smelt like marzipan

Defiantlynot41 · 01/06/2024 12:19

The L'Occitane almond shower oil is lovely

Jo Malone Lime Basil Mandarin

Olverum shower gel

Clarins yellow tonic used to be amazing, has been reformulated and I've heard it's not as good but may be worth a try, also the Eau Dynamisante shower foam in a can

Chanel no 5 soap is very luxurious for the soap fans, and long-lasting, I just wish they still did the spray body oil

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/06/2024 12:23

I was going to say the Clarins yellow tonic, too, @Defiantlynot41 - I absolutely love it, in the old formulation - I haven't tried the new one yet, and I hope they haven't ruined it.

They do a lotion/balm in the same fragrance - I always like a shower gel that had a matching lotion.

I also like Elemis Frangipani Monoi - the fragrance is lovely and really lingers on the skin - more than any other shower gel I have tried.

I recently treated myself to Neals Yard Bee Lovely shower gel and lotion, and I would not recommend them. I don't know why, but to me, they smell slightly of salmon.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 01/06/2024 12:25

@Blackcats7 yes, I think it smells almonds. I know the Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner you’re talking about - I used to buy them in Tesco during my lunch hour when I was a Saturday girl in 1992. They were gorgeous.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/06/2024 12:25

I forgot to say, @wizarddry - for something just under your £20 price point, I would definitely recommend Arran Aromatics - I love their After the Rain range - shower gel, lotion and perfume.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 01/06/2024 12:26

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius yes the Elemis frangipani one is absolutely lovely. I had it in an advent calendar and was really delighted with it.

Blackcats7 · 01/06/2024 12:30

@ThinkingAgainAndAgain you can still buy it from japan via ebay but it’s about £40 plus £30 postage!

its ok, I’ve moved on 😂

cointos · 01/06/2024 12:39

The Messiah & Eve body cleanser .02 is my favourite. It has a beautiful scent. It's a sweet scent that smells so expensive.

Their other body cleanser is lovely too but the scent is a bit more masculine which some people might not like (personally, it reminds me of a forest and I love it for that).

PragmaticDramatic · 01/06/2024 12:59

I have used Molton Brown and it’s lovely but I prefer my shower gel to be thicker. I recently picked up M&S Pink Pepper perfume and the matching shower gel and I am impressed with it. For £20 you would probably be able to buy three bottles of it.

buffyslayer · 01/06/2024 13:17

I like (mostly for the scents!)
Neom
Loccitane
Olverum
Vieve

If you want cheap but lovely, the imperial leather range and also method body washes

Lilacdew · 01/06/2024 13:20

I like Geranium and Orange from Neal's Yard which is about £15 for a small bottle and the Verbena Occitane. Some of the Neom ones are lovely too.

Phantasmagorically · 01/06/2024 13:25

It's not even that luxury, and it's not a gel, (why am I even commenting!) but my ride or die shower product is the Bioderma shower oil (approx. £20 for 1 litre). I'm dry skinned and nothing leaves me as soft as this. I rub it on after I've washed with whatever shower wash and then rinse it off. And my skin is so soft and smooth. Recommend for any sensitive skinned peeps.

ghostyslovesheets · 01/06/2024 14:26

Clarins blue one - oh how I love that!

I'm a big fan of M+S Fragrance Society stuff as well - which is cheapish and smells lovely

NigelHarmansNewWife · 01/06/2024 14:30

To the poster who asked - the L'Occitane almond shower oil is not as marzipanny as the Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner back in the day. It's obviously almond, but more sophisticated and less in your face.

I would love to go to Japan. Now I have another reason!

I came on to recommend the m and s one, not sure if it's fragrance society, it's the one in the dark brown bottles, like a spa range, smells lovely, and feels much more luxury than the price tag

Username620 · 01/06/2024 14:31

Jo Malone shower gels are my treat, but I’ve started using a brand called Wild, a little more expensive than normal shower gels but the fragrance stays a long time. I bought a case and refills aren’t too expensive. I also love their deodorant stick. Very long lasting smell.

Ah sounds good though. I'd not considered shower oil. Does it make the bath slippery?

Molton Brown vary in consistency. I buy at their Outlet for £17.50 or via Showcase. Eg discontinued Silver Birch is thicker.

Oh so do I. It was gorgeous, the Chanel spray oil.
The L’Occitane shower oils are lovely, they do a few different ones now.
Personally I haven’t yet found a Molton Brown fragrance that I like though I know lots love them
