Nicola Coughlan's stylist needs to step it up!

This woman is a talented goddess and I'm so disappointed by how she has been styled for the Brigerton promos.
I feel like a lot of stylists cannot cope with a petite curvy woman, it's so annoying.
This woman deserves all the beautiful clothes!!

She is absolutely not a UK size 10. She absolutely is plus size.

Eieiom · 22/05/2024 19:08

And I adore her, but I think it's hit and miss. She has the most gorgeous skin and is such a lovely presence.
I just want her to be slaying all over the place, this is a big moment for her.

From the horse's mouth.

And this. No.
And the hair styling has been lazy too.
I just see a huge disparity between the cohesiveness of the wardrobes she has and Simone Ashley for example.

To be fair you can’t really compare them. Simone Ashley will get very different hair / make up / clothes because of her skin tone, age (she’s nearly 10 years younger) and height.

CormorantStrikesBack · 22/05/2024 19:11

This dress from a shape point of view is much more flattering than what she is often wearing/styled in and makes her look slimmer. The colour washes her out and merges into her skin. But shows how much better she looks in a flattering dress.

Also my point isn't about her size and to do with the wardrobe. She is stunning and I have loved some of her past looks, just not the ones at the Bridgerton premieres.
Lovely looks attached!

Well, if I say anything further, I will be analysing her size, so I will shut up.

Bearpawk · 22/05/2024 19:14

@xsquared my best friend is 5 ft and a size 10 and and she looks absolutely nothing like Nicola c. She has boobs and an arse too so not stick thin.

Bearpawk · 22/05/2024 19:14

Love the lilac pink dress on her.
Those red shoes with the blazer look so weird ?

curious79 · 22/05/2024 19:15

she has a difficult figure to dress. She is pretty, and she may be a medium / 12 but wouldn't be easy to dress off the rack - short body, neck, big tum. I think she looks great

Fudgetheparrot · 22/05/2024 19:16

Only recently found out she’s 37, her skin is amazing! Agree about the stylist though

Can you show your evidence, @Eieiom?

In all the photos I’ve ever seen of her off screen (as well as on) she looks, as @UntiltheGirl says, spectacularly pretty and staggeringly well styled.

Are you her PR?

Eieiom · 22/05/2024 19:17

Why do threads about style always revolve into debates about the size of the individual? We wouldn't do that to a man.

She looks absolutely beautiful to me and her talent is undeniable.

I'm going to add two more pics of outfits I have loved on her.

She’s not a size 10. She’s fucking fabulous but she is not a size 10

If you are short, you can be a size 10 and fat. My BMI is 30, I am sitting wearing a pair of size 10 trousers currently. I’m definitely fat, I’m just also short.

Lwrenn · 22/05/2024 19:19

I'd fight a lion with bare hands to have this woman's face, she's absolutely perfect. And seems like a outstanding human as well.

CormorantStrikesBack · 22/05/2024 19:21

I think because it’s a valid point that stylists can’t cope with dressing someone who isn’t fashion industry standard. There’s a thinking in the fashion world that mid size and plus size women can wear what a size 8 wears but just made larger. I mean obviously they can if they want to. But it’s not always flattering and for a professional stylist it seems a bit lazy. Ultimately if she’s happy with how she’s styled that’s the main thing.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 22/05/2024 19:21

They sort of do seem to be about her size OP because you said yourself you think she looks better when an outfit makes her look slimmer. ‘Flattering’, when picked apart, is usually the speaker saying smaller.
Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could admire clothing for texture, colour, angles, features, rather than whether it made the wearer look thinner.

Eieiom · 22/05/2024 19:22

@Lwrenn Agree 💯, she is perfect, has a beautiful smile. And talented. I've been loving her in Big Mood as well as Bridgerton.

3 fucking 7… incredible. Love her. You are right OP, some of those outfits are an abomination!

Eieiom · 22/05/2024 19:24

@HanarCantWearSweaters I never said she should look slimmer or used the word flattering (which I hate!).
I love an oversized silhouette on her, my favourite dress above is the pink one, absolutely beautiful.
And if you read my posts, I talk about the fits and silhouettes. It's other posters who have brought in sizing.
Agree, I would love the conversation to focus on the looks!

HanarCantWearSweaters · 22/05/2024 19:27

Apologies OP I proper mistook a post above yours for also being you, that’ll learn me to read slower! I am sorry. That pink dress is a favourite of mine too.
Not seen Big Mood yet but loved Derry Girls as well.

HanarCantWearSweaters · 22/05/2024 19:28

Also adore the colour changes for S3, the paler blue greens and silvers suit her so well. And the makeup. I have a similar round face shape and wish I could do my makeup like they have hers.

Eieiom · 22/05/2024 19:29

The red dress I posted above fits very badly on her chest, doesn't sit well.
The white one, I'm not crazy about either because there is a bagginess around the waist/hips and the flipped down shoulders look like straps that have slipped down. If you look at the beautiful pink dress above, she has tonnes of volume and detail around her shoulders, but it works beautifully on her.

CormorantStrikesBack · 22/05/2024 19:29

OP - you did say in your first post that a stylist can’t cope with dressing a curvy woman. So I think people have responded to that. Maybe don’t bring her size into it at all then by calling her curvy if you didn’t want people to talk about how some clothes may or may not suit her figure. Which to be honest is what you totally implied in your first post 🤷‍♀️

HelloMyNameIsElderSmurf · 22/05/2024 19:30

BigPandaTinyDragon · 22/05/2024 19:04

I wish I looked as good as her - I don’t think she’s a size 10 and I’m not sure where that’s come from but I’m far from one myself so what do I know 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think she's gone public with her dress size as people kept asking about it, speculating about it, and calling her plus size.

She is very short (like me) and curvy (also like me) and it's hard to dress around. Whatever you do, there's just not enough space for her clothes. FWIIW (and I'm in no way a style maven) I love her red carpet looks.

If you look at her in Big Mood, where she's dressing more normally, she looks like a 10 (given the camera makes everyone seem bigger).
