I've bought for my spring 'uniform' a couple of denim skirts. One from M&S & a pale feather weight one from H&M.
A couple of cotton M&S cardigans that are similar to the current Whistles one & can be worn off the shoulder when slightly unbuttoned over a vest top. Plus plain white ribbed vest tops from Primark.
All pictured ...

Forgot to say I'm 60 ☺️

PinkOrangeRed · 10/05/2024 11:47

I'm 61, 5'8", size 14/16. I have only bought this dress from M&S in black for the summer, in the long length. It's very similar to one Me+Em has done, and is a style that suits my body shape.
The only other thing I'm looking for is a pair of tan leather low wedge sandals. Ordered 2 pairs so far & all have gone back as rubbed as soon as I tried them on. Back to the searching!

Nearly 63, I'm 5ft 4in and a size 12. Some of what I've bought is for my holiday in July which I think will be really hot.

A bit of a theme here, but I like a black dress in summer (its the first time I've bought from Nobody's Child).

this co ord for my holiday - I have another from WNU from last year.

These Mary Janes

A couple of hats - by the end of the summer I'll have wrecked them.

What I'll probably buy in the next month or so: trousers, a couple of summer tops and maybe another pair of birks. I'm also looking at the dresses in ME and EM.

I adore that Cos dress, but as a fellow shortish person are you not drowned in it?

eggplant16 · 09/05/2024 17:55

I'm short and all bottom and boobs. Short waisted , so not much body if you know what I mean.
Sorry no pics, but personal shopper at John Lewis of some help.

Did the personal shopper find you anything?

I bought this. The side tie means it's as loose as you need it to be.
https://www.next.co.uk/g29529s3/350445#350445

I’ve got the black white spot it’s really nice and it’s cotton ( hurray) However the side split is high, so I will take to get it sewn up a bit , I can’t sew a button but I’m hoping the lady I go to will be able to sort it.

That side tie would irritate me!

starfishmummy · 10/05/2024 16:53

Retired and short. I've just bought this and will have to shorten it but I loved it @ sainsburys. It's my colour, not sure what I'll wear it with yet but habe plenty of t shirts

Yes, she was very good. The last one, I took practically everything back. It was basically summer wear in winter! This time, trousers that fit, a nice blouse from Hush, a great little short jacket and a dress thats a contender!

@ViscountessMelbourne It seems ok it's light so doesn't feel too drowning on me. I haven't worn it out yet though, just waiting for a chance 😀.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 10/05/2024 17:37

Slightly younger but fast approaching ...

I've bought two next V neck cotton jersey tee shirt dresses - they are just above knee length / on the knee depending how tall you are

Next knee length linen shorts

A knee length fit & flare blue patterned sun dress which buttons up the front and has a drawstring to gather the neckline so you don't get the top gaping . Also from Next.

I tend to live in joggers/leggings and tee shirts at home but have got two UK seaside breaks booked in June/July and Croatia in September.

Yes, I also like the fact it is cotton

I am steeling myself to deal with the size 8 clothes I don't currently fit. I am a size 10 now and I just don't know if it's worth it eating less and exercising more to get back to a size 8. I mentioned it to a similarly aged colleague about losing the 5 pounds and she said, "But Spinning, think what it will do to your face?" Or is this a cop out and the thin end of the wedge? I was effortlessly slim right up to my late fifties.

NeedWineNow · 11/05/2024 08:54

I'm 61, 5'6, Size 14/16 and gave up work a couple of years ago. I really don't need much as I've got a lot of summer stuff already, and I don't need a work wardrobe, but (encouraged by DH) I bought this dress in H&M together with some cream wedge espadrilles also in H&M to go with it. Feels great on and will be lovely when we go to Greece later in the year. It runs large so I sized down to a Medium.

Loving this thread - thanks OP for starting it.
I am looking for an A line skirt, denim maybe, but otherwise any colour for summer .
I live in jeans / trousers in winter, but for hot days I need to upgrade with a new skirt.
Anyone seen anything lovely - preferably A Line (suits my boyish figure) and just above knee

KomproMatilda · 11/05/2024 09:19

Noooooo, @iwantavuvezela! I was just about to direct you to the perfect source, but you’re insisting on entirely the wrong length. Straight mini or ankle length. A line midi or floor sweeping. Otherwise you’ll look left over from the 70s. Why not be guided by what’s being sold in contemporary shops? Example:

Oh God yes, steeling myself as I go up to an 18.
