All welcome

Veils drawn over last week...

The rules (anyone can join):

This is about feeling better about yourself...not necessarily a diet per se etc etc

  • Sunscreen at all times
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Creeps in, bloated and Templeton-style, and heads straight off to bed again
Nice week, dreadful boot-camping!
See you all tomorrow

unknownrebelbang · 30/03/2008 23:07

Just posted on the other thread, but thought I'd leave my mark here, ready for tomorrow.

OP posts:
soapbox · 30/03/2008 23:28

Ahem - aren't you supposed to be in bed

Sorry for bursting in - but have been lurking a lot on the threads - thinking of joining in

WideWebWitch · 30/03/2008 23:31

Soapbox, I am indeed! Off to bed now, honest.

Do join in, we're very often crap but we do laugh a lot and it's a very sociable thread.

(enid came in last week and said "ah so THIS is where all the people I know are )

OP posts:
marina · 30/03/2008 23:32

We are so sluggish from being rubbish that we all think it is 10.30pm soapy
join us....

Prufrock · 30/03/2008 23:33

Oh do come and join us soapy - then it really will be like vinopolis.
I posted in a rather tired and emotional state last weekish about how improved my life is since bootcamp - I may not be following all the rules all the time (but pursuit of perfection is not a good thing) but my baseline is so much healthier now.

I'm going to weigh myself in a moment and then go to bed - just been writing personal trainers CV for her. Next week will be back to being good.

And total hijack - but duch - could you check out my thread on keepin pre-school paperwork?

soapbox · 30/03/2008 23:35

I honestly think I need to do something drastic - I am more than living off the fat of the land - I am devouring it all

I just cannot seem to get back into the diet and exercise zone and I need to do so very badly!

Perhaps I will join you next week - once I am back at work - or is that just more procrastination?

I am convincing myself that it is only 10.30 too, but I am off up to Scotland on the sparrowfart place tomorrow (with the DCs) so do need to get to bed sometime soon, or it simply won't be worth it.

bundle · 30/03/2008 23:39

my weekend has been APPALLING too

lots of nigel slateresque pork belly with aniseed/garlic

lots of cava

lots of leeks in creamy sauces

hardly any moving around, never mind exercise.

did drink some water though
had a nap this afternoon
used some day and night cream
better luck next week...

marina · 30/03/2008 23:42

Never mind eating it bundy, I am a pork belly

Prufrock · 30/03/2008 23:47

soapy, rather than try do something drastic (which IME always fails, therefore making me feel like I can't be bothered) try taking babysteps towards goodness. So next week, drink 2l water every day. I find it easier if I fill a litre sports bottle in the am, then refill after lunch or exercise.

Then next week, don't drink in the week, and do a pampering thing (bodybrush upon waking, handcream - whatever particularly inspires you). Before you know it you'll be living a virtuous life

soapbox · 30/03/2008 23:52

Drinking 2l of water it is then Pru.

I'll leave the no alcohol in the week until the following week when I get back from my mother's house

bundle · 30/03/2008 23:55

me too marina
at least it was happy pork from the butcher's near where nige lives...

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 31/03/2008 09:23

ureb - holiday destination sounds lovely but urgh to DC vomit in a caravan. Your vino was much deserved! Welcome back.

pru - I'll find your pre-sch thread in a bit.

l&s - you must be in hospital to have avoided posting for this long!

First dry day for ages yesterday and my sciatica was so bad that I only managed to stagger around the house. I have also developed piles. With only 8 weeks left till due date, I am not amused.

Food & water was quite good but missing my raw carrots. Face & hand cream yes. Everything else, crap. Reasonable going-to-bed-times but overslept this morning, just managed to get DCs to school on time but I feel horrible. Will have porridge or something and a shower and hope for an improvement.

Enjoy the week!

bamamama · 31/03/2008 11:08

Hello all, I appeared to go AWOL for a week although I'm not sure why. The days just seem to go by and then there was a new thread again!
Not doing too bad bootcamping wise, although permanently knackered so off to bed soon.
Hope all is well and L&S bootcamp baby has arrived. I had word today that a good friend had her first dc, a little girl. Very cute. May get broody..!

Bundle - that pork sounds lovely, will see if I can source the recipe.
DoNB, can't believe how quickly your pregnancy is progressing (although I'm sure it's probably not zipping by now you are blessed with piles!)

ChutneyMary · 31/03/2008 15:44

Hello all, still struggling to keep on the straight and narrow.

Have we a bootcamp baby yet?

Am about to go home and read a mag. Am shattered. This new hour is too early for me

Batters, deeply impressed at aqua aerobics and gym mentioned in same sentence!

Soapbox, yes, do join us, even if you don't do it properly, I agree, I've only met you once but you were very glamourous and polished looking,

Marina, I am also a belly of pork and the loins and everything else.

DofN, sympathy on piles and sciatica combo, poor you. But only 8 weeks to go, how lovely, it doesn't seem 2 mins ago to me that you announced it. Other people's pregnancies go so quickly for moi!

Bama, ooh broody hey, maybe you can have the third bootcamp baby?!

Chutneymary, we're all feeling the after effects of easter I think, well, I am but welcome back anyway

WideWebWitch · 31/03/2008 19:28

DH is cooking sausages and veg

unknownrebelbang · 31/03/2008 22:29

Good evening everyone!

Another porkbelly here signing in.

Sciatica and piles Duchess, lovely combination. Hope you're feeling a bit better.

I've decided I'm far better off bootcampwise, being on holiday I'm far more sensible . And the downside to going away at Easter is that the boys still have all their eggs left (and we don't buy them any!).

  • Sunscreen at all times, can't remember if I did this morning or not
  • No or little booze. Have had a large glass the last three nights.
  • No exercise.
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day, just about.
  • Apply body cream as often as possible, lax
  • Use hand cream, lax
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if poss - noooo.
  • Eat healthily - ha! Failed again!
  • Be happy. Ooh, bad first day back at work, so much to do, and a few minor problems to tackle, and I'm not in the next two days, which is great, or it would be....if I didn't know how much blardy work there is to be done.

DS3, however, does seem to be fine again, although I thought that over the weekend, so will see how he is tomorrow.

Prufrock · 31/03/2008 22:56
  • Sunscreen at all times - Yes
  • No or little booze. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it - Yes. I think this is actually my first booze free day since Good Friday, so I'm hoping I'll feel significantly better tomorrow morning.
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Took dogs and kids out for an hour, then delivered begging letters all round village with kids on bikes. All more of an amble than real exercise, but I did do 20 minutes and 100 sit-ups in the gym.
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day Yes, too much coffee though
  • Apply body cream as often as possible. No
  • Use hand cream. Loads - did gardening and huge amounts of washing up yesterday and my hands are terrible.
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos. Oops. I'm actually staying up late so I can get tired, because I was going to bed and then lying awake for hours.
  • Eat healthily, 2 slices toast and nutella, pasta for lunch, leftover chinese tonight, blueberry muffin, 1/2 tube mini eggs. So no, not really
  • Be happy - yes.
TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 31/03/2008 23:11
  • Sunscreen - YES
  • No booze
  • Walking - 6,000 steps & mucking out (boo)!
  • Lots of water
  • Body cream -- YES, have also had rice scrub thing and am now slathered in Chanel No. 5 body lotion. Feeling divine!
  • Use hand cream - LOTS & Flexitol on feet.
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos - Oops...
  • Eat healthily - hot cross bun, apple, crab & salad sandwich, raw carrots, venison casserole, boiled potatoes & broccoli, 6 fruit truffles.
  • Be happy - I'll be much happier when my bottom doesn't smart so much [wince emoticon]

pru - sorry I wasn't much help on the pre-sch thread.

batters - get you & your 'master' aqua aerobic class. Will you all end up with perfect breasts like the instructor?

Iota · 01/04/2008 09:55

I don't think I've done anything right so far this week, I'm just not in the mood.

But hello and wave to all

Oliveoil · 01/04/2008 10:01

oooh can I join?

I do most on your list anyway (apart from the sunscreen) but am getting wobbly of stomach lately and NEED TO DO SOME PROPER EXERCISE!

dd1 and dd2 were at inlaws overnight on Saturday and dh had secretly been to Selfridges and bought half the food hall so I do not want to eat any stinky cheese for at least a month

salads all round

am also addicted to sugar and need to sort that out

tortoiseSHELL · 01/04/2008 10:59

hi all, my internet is finally mended! So I can come back in.

I was ill over the weekend, so had a VERY good weekend bootcamp wise...

water - lots
food - none (was sick )
bed - all day
exercise - - does lying in bed count?
sunscreen - didn't leave the house, curtains drawn, no UV rays!

Hope you are all well!
