I'm in the market for some really comfortable spring/summer shoes.

So you want a shoe to be comfortable but you don't like a shoe that is designed to be comfortable because then it looks like a shoe designed to be comfortable ?

Binfire · 14/04/2024 17:17

Sketchers sorry. I wouldn’t wear them now but man they were comfortable!

TheValueOfEverything · 14/04/2024 17:17

FitFlop’s 100% leather loafers - “Allegro”. So soft and supportive but still smart. So comfy on my bunions. Last for years.

Once they get scuffed I use them as house shoes and then eventually garden shoes. Occasionally find them half price in the sale. FitFlop Allegro

Pixiesgirl · 14/04/2024 17:17

They look like old lady shoes, I'm old but not that old.

What do people think of these

I quite like the fitflop allegro, haven't had ballet shoes for ages tbh

Old ladies value comfort over looks - probably because they have sore feet from wearing fashionable shoes

They manage to change their mindset so that something that looks comfortable looks good to them

mrsbyers · 14/04/2024 17:22

Birkenstocks for me , just bought another pair in black as wore my others from spring to autumn last year

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 14/04/2024 17:25

I’ve got some Think! shoes and they are the softest leather with the most comfortable insoles and the bendiest, grippiest soles. I’ve done long walks in them and found them to be more comfortable and supportive than my hiking boots.
They are expensive though. I got mine second-hand, but new they are not cheap.

Caspianberg · 14/04/2024 17:28

Birkenstock

Fitflops - trainers, sandals, boots, they are so comfy. And Birkenstocks - I'm finding the sandals slightly hard on the sole, although I think there is a softer version, but the boots are fab.

I wouldn't wear them whatever age I was.

Curlyblondefemale · 14/04/2024 17:30

For a causal summer look with shorts and T-shirt I like these.. so comfortable

Cocteautriplet · 14/04/2024 17:30

Saltwater Sandals - can wear them all day!

ApolloandDaphne · 14/04/2024 17:36

I think the ones you posted are very ugly. I adore my Birkies. I and 61 and my DDs are 26 & 31. We all love Birkies.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 14/04/2024 17:40

For casual summer shoes I found Trotters canvas are really comfortable, although very casual.

Trotters Hampton

I also find everything from Pretty Ballerina very comfortable for more formal wear.

Obviously neither of these are suitable for heavy duty long distance walking but walking around a city, walking to work etc they're great.

Birkenstocks for me too. I have a high arch and these are the only shoe that supports it well. I didn’t think Birkenstocks have an ‘age’, I see people from 9-90 wearing them. Fitflop on the other hand always strikes me as a shoe for people 55-75, only because my parents wear them!

Not a fan of those particular ones but I do have some art company flats that are really comfy so rate the brand.

Igneococcus · 14/04/2024 17:47

I just bought Birkies (Arizonas) in cornflower blue suede and I can't wait for the rain to stop so I can wear them.

I don't like them. But that's because I don't like clumpy, clompy shoes or platform soles.

The "look like old lady shoes" comments seem a bit ridiculous as plenty of young women wear that clompy/ clumpy/ platform style. They don't strike me as shoes for any particular age group.

Lavendersquare · 14/04/2024 17:54

I'm a fan of Vionic shoes and trainers they have loads of styles and whilst some are a bit orthopaedic looking most aren't. They have been transformational for my bad knees and I've even bought the insoles to go inside my Ugg boots.

Next sell them online which is a good way to try them as they are quite pricy, although often can be found in the Next sale section and sometimes in TK Maxx.

Ecco flash sandals. I live in them in the summer.

henlake7 · 14/04/2024 18:01

Rocket Dog Jazzin tennis shoes and baseball boots.
I live in these over summer as they are the closest 'trendy' shoes I can find to barefoot ones.
Plus they arent too pricey and come in lots of different colours which I like.
