I'm in the market for some really comfortable spring/summer shoes.

Birkenstock Gizeh with the toe part are the comfiest long lasting sandals. Mine only get worn in summer obviously, and I don’t go hiking or whatever in them but must be coming on for 15 years old. I have the brown leather so they have just aged nicely.

So you want a shoe to be comfortable but you don't like a shoe that is designed to be comfortable because then it looks like a shoe designed to be comfortable ?

That's the problem!

Birkenstocks kill my feet. I thought I’d buy some of these ones in the hope they’d be more comfortable, but nope, they gave me blisters. I need to put them on eBay or Vinted because I’m never going to wear them again.

Did you break them in, you need to wear them for an increasing amount of time until you find they're comfortable then they be soooo comfortable

GR8GAL · 15/04/2024 11:36

The most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever had were a £10 Sketchers/Crocs knock-off that I got in a street market on my first ever holiday to Spain age 11, because I didn't own a pair of sandals.

I still have them. They still fit. They're moulded to my feet and feel like a second skin. And they're basically indestructible, I've worn them on beaches, in the ocean, trekked up mountains and hikes with them. I once tried to find them online and the only result I got was a list of "The Ugliest Products Ever Made"!

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 15/04/2024 11:46

After the month of hell that was breaking them in, my most comfortable shoe is the Solovair boot.

IndecentPropolis · 15/04/2024 11:49

Sketchers Slip Ins.

Life changing especially as I struggle to bend over.

juniorspesh · 15/04/2024 11:50

My 82-year old MIL would describe Birkenstocks as old lady shoes and she would prefer a jazzy gold trainer from Hotter or somewhere like that.

I like Fit-flops 'Gracie' styles, they don't have the huge chunky sole that many of the other Fit flops do.
They are extremely comfortable IME, and come in several different styles.

I've just bought some Ugg Goldenhar clogs, the comfiest things ever!

RobbieisWright · 15/04/2024 11:54

And I love Birkenstocks, the only issue is that they fart Hmm

HeadsShouldersTitsandArse · 15/04/2024 11:54

I worked in dentistry and spent 9/10 hours a day on my feet and had some (not very pretty) shoes called ‘holes/holees’ and oh my god they were a dream. Think crocs material, but looked like a slip on trainer with memory foam inside. Honestly o didn’t care if they weren’t good looking they were exceptionally comfy.

quick reminds me.. I’m off to see if they still exists 😂

ettieb · 15/04/2024 11:55

Archies flip flops are amazing and have arch support

HeadsShouldersTitsandArse · 15/04/2024 11:56

These! Looks like you can’t actually get them anymore, unless on eBay😂 but I’ve never had a comfier shoe

Fly wedges heel

SquashPenguin · 15/04/2024 12:01

My Dr Marten sandals. I could climb Everest in them. My feet are way too narrow for Birkenstocks, they just slop off or I hurt my feet trying to hold onto them.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 15/04/2024 12:02

Skechers from Go Run range.
Nike Air
Nike poolside sliders, absolutely amazing
Worst - Converse all stars/Veja white trainers, bloody awful.

FranklyMyDearIDontGiveAShit · 15/04/2024 12:21

Any thing by Air and Grace!

permanently · 15/04/2024 12:42

Joya shoes/trainers. Around £200 a pair. A sore one but so worth it for your feet/back problems.

Purplecatshopaholic · 15/04/2024 12:58

DM ‘Voss’ sandals - sooo comfy

Allbirds - no breaking in, comically comfortable from first wear. Very, very casual though.

bellezarara · 15/04/2024 14:29

Merrell sandals are great for my high arched feet. I have walked in them for miles each day.

Cas112 · 15/04/2024 14:44

Crocs all day

learieonthewildmoor · 15/04/2024 16:55
