They look like old lady shoes, I'm old but not that old.

What do people think of these

I think the ones you posted are very ugly. I adore my Birkies. I and 61 and my DDs are 26 & 31. We all love Birkies.

Kate Moss was 15.

I don't think generally that Kate Moss is the be all and end all of how to be stylish and I still don't like Birkenstocks, but the "Birkenstocks are for old ladies" stuff seems a bit silly.

Depends if you’re concerned about looking trendy. Trainers are definitely the most comfortable, I walk a lot so wear sketchers day to day and Nike in the evening.

Dontknowdontknownotsure · 14/04/2024 20:30

New Balance 610s! Like walking on air soles

SwedishEdith · 14/04/2024 20:30

How can you have not heard of or noticed Birkenstocks and the varied demographic that wears them? They're just a summer staple.

Shinyandnew1 · 14/04/2024 20:32

Birkenstocks Madrid or clogs.

Fly London Mes/Mol but to be honest any of their boots.

Zola1 · 14/04/2024 20:33

Doc marten sandals are absolutely so comfy. Got all my colleagues onto them over the years for the summer months.

TheFairyCaravan · 14/04/2024 20:37

Birkenstocks kill my feet. I thought I’d buy some of these ones in the hope they’d be more comfortable, but nope, they gave me blisters. I need to put them on eBay or Vinted because I’m never going to wear them again.

Rocket Dog Jazzin tennis shoes and baseball boots.
I live in these over summer as they are the closest 'trendy' shoes I can find to barefoot ones.
Plus they arent too pricey and come in lots of different colours which I like.

Rocket Dogs are so comfy . They have wide toes and memory foam soles.

Saltwater sandals didn't rub at all , I'm usually prone to blisters. I found birkenstocks and footbed styles take ages to break in.

Comfiest I've ever worn are Nike Air Rifts but I don't think they are still available.

HaveringGold · 15/04/2024 07:04

Birkenstocks
Adidas
Air and Grace
Bared Footwear

I did try Vivaia the other day looked great, ripped my heels to shreds

hoochycrone · 15/04/2024 07:12

belfastjun · 15/04/2024 07:20

I bought a pair of Pavers trainers and I live in them. Bought in another colour too.

Not these exact ones but similar

Yes try Strive, Merrell, Vionic, Fitflop, Blowfish, Gabor or Ecco for PF.

Elley123 · 15/04/2024 08:19

Have a look at Moshulu. Very true to size and comfortable.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 15/04/2024 08:29

Ever - I had a pair of lined black boots from Asda that I wore through the pandemic.

Currently it's a pair of black Skechers

Shopper727 · 15/04/2024 08:34

Birks may be good for your feet and ‘comfortable’ for some but they are so uncomfy for me. I have v flat feet so they just don’t suit. I like them though. I used to have a really nice pair of hush puppie sandals from Schuh so comfy but they don’t do them anymore. There’s not many shoes I find comfy tbh short of wearing springs on my feet. Sketchers aren’t comfy either.

SharpLily · 15/04/2024 08:45

What planet do you live on where Birkenstocks are an old lady shoe? Genuinely confused.

Anyway, I pretty much have to wear FitFlops because I have plantar fasciitis and they are by far the least painful and most comfortable shoe for my feet. You'll be pleased to notice that they offer a variety of styles appropriate for both yound and old. 🙄
