Quilted jackets

I have just ordered one from Mint Velvet which I tried on and liked and then regretted not buying. I'm just not 100% sure they suit me being kind of boxy fit/short as I'm only short myself. Anyone seen any others which are nice?

Gosh, interesting that these are now fashion again. They were a late 70s and early 80s fashion but not so much for anyone under 40. They had a brief return about 10 years ago. I have one in the wardrobe that I’ve not worn much as it’s striped and I’m not keen on that pattern.

Prices are a shocker. The traditional place to pick them up in the 80s was market stalls that specialised in Indian styles and fabrics. The early Monsoon shops were cheaper and specialised in this sort of look as did East before it priced itself out of a market with extremely high prices

Looks like Amazon is the place to go. Identical jackets. Huge price difference!

I saw a reversibble one today in TK Maxx for £29.99

CointreauVersial · 09/04/2024 17:12

I love the green Oliver Bonas one linked above, and also this from River Island.

I have one that I bought in a charity shop a few years back (originally Monsoon), but I actually find it quite hard to wear. Needs a bit of volume on the bottom half, such as wide leg jeans or trousers, and a very plain/white top, so it's a bit limiting.

The river island one is stunning but out of stock. Annoyingly I saw it on store and dithered. Typical

MissAtomicBomb1 · 10/04/2024 16:48

Ooh glad I've found this thread as I'm also coveting a quilted jacket!
I've seen a lovely one in Joe Browns but it's a bit ££ for something I'd probably not wear all that much

Also this one in monsoon, it's reversible but not sure on the colours

You might still be able to find it on ASOS or Next 🤞

So, the blue and white one I ordered from next is massive on me even though I'm a big 12 and got medium. But I kept a black and white one, the brand of friends like these I think. It was cheaper too. Wore with jeans and a white t shirt and had some nice comments on it!

ThePoshUns · 10/04/2024 18:59

That's nice @MsDastardley but like you say £££s
I'd have thought Monsoon would have a vast selection of choice of these. The one they do have is so dreary.

Monsoon used to be great, but it’s really gone downhill imo. I haven’t bought anything from there for years. They’ve all closed down in my area, but Accessorize still going. It’s a shame, I have had some lovely things in the past, and in natural fabrics. I used to think I was buying something special

Workingmytickettoparadise · 10/04/2024 19:17

My jacket was one of three in a charity shop all by Monsoon. I do miss a browse in Monsoon but find the prices too high for what the items are.

Fannyannie · 10/04/2024 20:30

My best friend and I had one in 1980 , it had toggles to do it up , rolled sleeves . I regret not keeping it . We looked the biz back in the day.

We wore it to school.

Fannyannie · 10/04/2024 20:33

It looked just like this one !!

I am not normally a fan of these, but that JB one is gorgeous - if reviews didn’t say they run very small, would be tempted by that.

GoodlifeGlow · 10/04/2024 21:30

I bought the River Island one about 4 weeks ago and have worn it so much. They are perfect for spring. I had seen quite a few on French fashion IG pages and really wanted one but they are so expensive.

Sezane have a few but way more £££ than I wanted to pay. The Amazon ones are polyester and I wanted cotton.

I think I'm going to order the Joe Brown one, I love it. Thank you for finding it.

Rosti1981 · 10/04/2024 21:38

I've got one from Monsoon from last year but I always think it looks funny on me and I can't seem to style it. Something about the neckline. This one: https://www.monsoon.co.uk/padded-rose-print-jacket-in-lenzing-ecovero-5402370158.html

I am short and blessed with a comedy bust.
They look like Nan's bed jacket on me.
