New thread to show what handbag you're using today, or what you're contemplating purchasing.

I'm lusting after this.

And using this today.

@londonmummy1966 I love that I'm making people spend money! Great bag, the Bayswater is a classic although too big for me - I'm a small bag girl.

Am fuming that someone on Vinted has just made me a stupid offer for a pristine Mulberry I've got on there. After dicking me around and asking for measurements when she could have bloody googled it.😡

I tend to veer between very small handbags for the evening and big totes for the day as I like a bag big enough to fit my gym kit and any top up food shopping I need to do. TBH much as I love Bayswaters they aren't exactly a practical bag for negotiating London as they mean you only ever have one hand free. So this was a real indulgence (especially as I bought a Dorset tote from Vestiaire last week.......).

I've never sold on Vestiaire but I'd been thinking of doing so as I've had some very silly offers on ebay recently - annoying that the same happens there as I'd rather hoped that people on there would have a better idea of what things are actually worth.

Floofydawg · 17/04/2024 18:01

@londonmummy1966 it's Vinted rather than Vestaire. TBH I'd rather keep the bag than sell it for a cheap price.

I’ve been trying to sell shoes on Vinted (Prada) and finding it’s a waste of time. Even if I accept an offer nobody follows through with the purchase. However a pair In poorer condition did sell as people there like a bargain with a designer name. Anything in good as new condition may be better sold through one of the websites that specializes in buying designer bags. I’m going to try designer exchange.

AprilLady · 17/04/2024 18:24

I avoid Vinted for selling anything, precisely because of the stupid offers and the lack of follow through, even when you agree a price. I do sell on ebay (not usually bags though). I price reasonably and turn off the “best offer” option, or if I have it on set an appropriate minimum below which offers are automatically rejected. I do still get messages sometimes with offers, but find it easier to just say no, especially if they are way below the (already reasonable) price offered.

Isabelle70 · 17/04/2024 19:44

@Floofydawg have you tried listing the Mulberry on the Facebook group Addicted to Mulberry? I am a member of the group and it's very well run.

Yeah, I have it on there as well and a couple of other FB Mulberry selling groups.

I don’t think the selling sites are worth the bother. I tried to sell an immaculate Celine and got offers for 1/3 of retail. I’d rather keep the bag for that.

RockaLock · 17/04/2024 22:44

I suppose the thing is that when someone is selling a bag, even if it's immaculate, if the price asked isn't that far off the retail price, well, I'd rather go to the shop and buy it new, and know that it was 100% genuine and unused, and have the in-store experience and have it nicely wrapped etc.

So I can kind of understand people not wanting to pay anything near the retail value.

But yes, I agree, it's very frustrating for the seller!

The bag I'm selling is less and half the price it was retail, and it's one that's not actually available any more.

I tend to agree with Rockalock, I would not buy a used bag close to retail price. I might as well buy it new and get the experience etc.

I’m in Paris, and I am taking myself to Sezane and Polene tomorrow morning (to try to beat the queues). I hope the Neuf is as beautiful in the flesh - really got my heart set on it.

Interested in your comments @Floofydawg and @RockaLock
I recently viewed on EBay a seemingly excellent quality Mulberry bag (style no longer available) that was priced at just over half price of retail, & had asked the seller a few questions which were promptly answered. In the end I decided not to purchase it because I wanted to try to find the same style in a different colour, having said that though, I would have been reluctant to purchase from an unknown (to me) private seller because “No returns accepted”. What if I didn’t like the bag or it didn’t fulfil my requirements?
I’m not a Mulberry or designer bag devotee and was really only looking for a good quality bag in the particular style in any brand/make.
In the end I found the bag I was searching for on ‘Mulberry Preloved’, yes it was more expensive, however it is authenticated, refurbished & returns are accepted. Now looking forward to delivery.
Btw… It was this thread that encouraged me to view Mulberry, thank you.🙂

Edit… I only do online shopping because I live miles away from any decent stores so to be able to return items is a must, eg: I recently purchased a £300 Berghaus jacket which was in a colour that didn’t really suit me, I successfully returned it & have purchased the same style in a different now suitable colour.

Floofydawg · 18/04/2024 10:21

@Tomasinabombadil I think Ebay do an authentication service if you're buying designer from them?

That’s very interesting thank you. Still would have to have ‘Returns accepted’ though.🙂

Sadly its only available on items over £500 and you can't volunteer to use it for lower priced items which is really frustrating as there's a bag I want available on ebay for £350 and on Vestiaire (which I could get authenticated) for £650 which is more than it retailed for when it was on sale).

Isabelle70 · 18/04/2024 17:29

@londonmummy1966 depending on the brand there are free Authenticators on the purse forum.
I have used them about 4 times for Mulberry bags and they were spot on each time and spotted a super fake from Dubai.

londonmummy1966 · 18/04/2024 18:06

@Isabelle70 - thank you - I might investigate an independent authentification service

I failed. I went bag shopping on Tuesday, nothing took my fancy. I ended up with 2 pairs of Ray Bans, a bottle of Burberry goddess and and givenchy loose powder

Will have to try again 😂

Isabelle70 · 29/04/2024 18:06

@Itsonlymashadow thank you, to me it's a happy cheerful bag that says summer.
Completely unnecessary but who cares!
