Beautiful women ageing

I watched Saltburn last night and was struck by how Rosamund Pike’s looks have changed over the years. She looks fantastic and she has done it without trying to look artificially younger than she is- she definitely looks like a 45yo woman rather than a 45yo woman trying to look like a weird 30yo. An utterly beautiful woman fully growing into herself.

What’s the secret of this? (Other than being born beautiful?)

Keeping healthy, fit and in love with life at every stage I think is the key.

GalileoHumpkins · 07/01/2024 11:14

Money.

Money.

That would help too. 😅

decisionssmecisions · 07/01/2024 11:17

It’s money, some subtle tweaks & a great bone structure. Good bone structure is like scaffolding so helps as you age, plenty of young beautiful people don’t have it so they don’t age as well.

FluffActually · 07/01/2024 11:17

My nan used to go on about the importance of bone structure. At 40 I finally understand what she means!

decisionssmecisions · 07/01/2024 11:24

I saw a stunningly beautiful older woman at my friends wedding & I commented to my friend about her & my friend was like “she still turns heads in her late 60s”. She had the most amazing bone structure.

CharlotteRumpling · 07/01/2024 11:29

Staying slim and fit. Sorry. With a few exceptions.

TurquoiseTurtoise · 07/01/2024 11:30

Silly question but how one knows if they have good bone structure?

It’s the lack of a potato face look. Strong jaw, high, more prominent cheek bones.

CharlotteRumpling · 07/01/2024 11:33

I would like to age like Jodi Foster in the Guardian yesterday. Doesn't look like she has had any work done. Washboard abs thanks to Nyad ( I don't aim for those buy would like to be fitter). Fantastic bone structure, ofc.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 07/01/2024 11:37

Clean face before bed and in the morning and good moisturiser. If it’s in the genes that’s all you need. Tailor your make up to your age - age gracefully.

Crushed23 · 07/01/2024 11:44

I truly thought she was the star of that film. Stole every scene she was in. Utterly captivating.

decisionssmecisions · 07/01/2024 11:51

strong jaw often with bum chin, normally a squarer shape face, high cheekbones, natural bunches on the cheeks when you smile.

Disguisedasnormal · 07/01/2024 11:53

I have a friend who ‘on paper’ should be haggard . She has an extremely challenging life, not enough rest, health challenges and does not have a high income (she has her hair cut once a year) but she looks SO young- she’s 45 and looks about 30 and a young 30 at that. I know her well enough to know she’s had no work done (she couldn’t afford it even if she wanted to). It sounds bad but I do find myself studying her face and mannerisms as it’s just so strange how well and young she looks , I’ve worked out it’s the following (I think)
-tall and slim
-no greys at all yet
-really good perfectly straight teeth that are even and white
-she only wears mascara so I think the lack of make up on good skin makes her look younger
-I know she has a very healthy diet as we often swap recipes as batch cook
-she has a way about her that is almost vulnerable and unassuming and I think this gives her an air of immaturity (I mean that in a nice way as she just acts young as well as looks young
-she have never smoked or drunk alcohol

decisionssmecisions · 07/01/2024 11:54

The “angles” hit the light better so most people who have a good bone structure will be more photogenic.

I have all these, but also jowls and sagging, dammit.

45 isn’t old , Beyoncé is 44 as is Kim k . I know they have had procedures, but in general, I am trying to state that that age is not old . It’s unlikely you would see someone looking old at 45

Erin O’Connor is 45 and looks old.

She looks great, don’t get me wrong, but she does not look young.

Money can only go so far. Genetics and discipline (as mentioned upthread) are more important.

I think both Kim K and Beyonce fall into the "45yo woman trying to look like a weird 30yo" category (Beyonce less than Kim).

It's interesting that even in this thread the discussion has moved from looking beautiful to looking young, as if these things are synonymous.

You can’t compare anyone to Kim K in terms of what someone should look like in their 40s😆

decisionssmecisions · 07/01/2024 12:18

Erin O’Connor is 45 and looks old.

she never looked “young” though as she has such strong features. I’ve seen her in real life & she’s very striking, she will likely look very similar to now in her 60s.

decionsdecisions62 · 07/01/2024 12:18

The secret is not trying to look 25 when you are 45. It's basically having a bit of class and good taste.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 07/01/2024 12:34

Being slim, having a waist, shiny thick hair, glowy skin, general all round good maintenance, good eyebrows.

Imo, being slim (but not skinny) is key.

Eating well, strength training, HRT to stop everything drying up.

Well done natural looking tweakments too.

Hahaha

I thought Nysa must be some new fitness trend and googled excitedly.

It's a film? I assume you mean she trained for the film?:)

CharlotteRumpling · 07/01/2024 12:41

Yes, sorry, the film "Nyad" . On Netflix. I should have explained. She just looks so good. And not in a plastic way. Just a healthy weatherbeaten way.
