Nail wraps

I’ve been seduced by ads for Lily and Fox nail wraps. I love the idea of pretty manicured nails. But I’m hard on my hands (young kids so lots of handwashing and cleaning) and I’m not sure if they can possibly as good as advertised

Has anyone tried them?

So, after having gel nails continuously for 10 years, I took the plunge and had them removed in eager anticipation of trying my new nail wraps….my husband’s first comment: “They look fucking dreadful” 😂😂

I hope that with a bit more practice, I’ll get better.

I love the colours I chose, and they do have the potential to look great, I just don’t think I’ve done them justice!

I'm eagerly awaiting my Lily and Fox toenail wraps!! Going to try them out before my holiday in March 🙂

RandomMess · 09/01/2024 21:44

Do the wraps help protect weak nails at all?

My nails are very brittle and the reason I went with BIAB gel.

ElliesMum16 · 09/01/2024 21:47

Oh I'm keen to try these! I'd love pretty nails but can't do long nails and don't want to do gels. Off to google...

Pigeon66 · 09/01/2024 21:49

I use lily & fox and I love them. My nails are really short and I am very hard on my hands. They last me about 10 days - gels usually last me about 2 weeks.
I am not patient when applying them, but they are really easy and it takes me about 20 mins to do both hands - including trimming / filing / basecoat / topcoat. I also have weak nails that split at the sides and these really protech them.

NewYearNewCalendar · 09/01/2024 21:54

I’ve been converted to these recently too, I’ve only tried Oh My Gosh. They have a Facebook group and there’s normally a discount code in there. I’ve found they start to wear a little at the tips after a few days, but very evenly rather than chipping so it’s not too obvious. And I’m very hard on my nails so others may not have that issue!

Ive just removed them with nail varnish remover like normal nail varnish.

ElliesMum16 · 09/01/2024 22:25

Just purchased 4 sets from Lily and Fox to try - so excited by the prospect of pretty nails!

ICantGetNoSheep · 10/01/2024 11:56

So by way of an update, my DD saw them this morning and thought I’d had them done at the salon as usual….but that was from a distance! I showered and the second I washed my hair, one of the wraps peeled up from the bottom of the nail 😬 it has stuck back down, but as I wash my hair every day, I’m a tad nervous about that.

That being said, my children and I worked out that I will save £410 each year by not having my nails done (£30 every 3 weeks), and that is assuming I change my new nail wraps on a weekly basis….so I’m going to persevere!

My trial of holy grail nail wraps has been a success - nearly a fortnight and they still look immaculate (I swim/gym/garden etc). Gel nails have always fallen off and polish chips after a couple of days so this is amazing!
I put a second top coat on after around 4 days as they looked a bit dull but they’ve been shiny ever since

Brackhurst · 11/01/2024 11:57

I’m right on the cusp of ordering from Holy Grail Nails. Does anyone know what they’re like with ridges? I promise I’ve got a good diet and take a general multivitamin and a hair/nail gummy but still. Like PPs I don’t want any that need curing with a UV lamp - looking for a proper break from gels.

RandomMess · 11/01/2024 14:58

You can get a nail buffer to remove ridges?

honeyfox · 11/01/2024 17:09

Just ordered five sets from NailsEra on Etsy!

Dynamoat · 11/01/2024 18:56

I've now tried lily and fox. They were easy to put on (and I am awful at applying polish). I couldn't be bothered to do the top coat and was worried I'd mess it up. They lasted a good day without the ends getting chipped, which sounds poor but is fantastic for me. I tend to chip polish within an hour. It also chipped evenly along the edge so they looked ok ish for a good few days.

I'm very harsh on my nails , opening ring pull cans, typing, scrubbing pans out etc with no gloves. So this is a great result.
y nails looked better than they ever have done so I'm going to try top coating them next time.

My latest from Holy Grail Nail, not seeing any bumps or ridges

Placemarking. I don’t have polish on my fingers because normal polish chips in minutes and gels are a pain to remove. These sound perfect and much easier removal wise. Interested in the non lamp brands and also the kids options as DD2 would love.

These were my daughters wraps for Christmas from holy grail nail, held up really well

@mindworkingovertime they look brilliant! God knows how many practices I’ll need for that. I’m super clumsy 😂

I can never be arsed to wait for polish to dry, so I’ve been putting a coat of Sally Hansen insta-dri top coat on over my wraps, and it does dry super quick, is glossy and seems hard wearing. I get between 10-20 days out of my wraps.

Took a couple of goes, thankfully you can lightly rest them in the nail to check it's placement, if happy press it down, if not gently pull it off and try again

Which are people’s favourite brands if they’ve tried a few? I got my kids the oh my gosh ones.

I am going to give up gels I think.

Afestivechange · 15/01/2024 12:26

Can I just check (as these all look gorgeous) - do these totally avoid the allergy issues with gels etc?

I love both Lily and Fox and Holy Grail Nail. HGN are slightly wider than L&F, only a tiny amount, but they also do wide versions for those with wider nails.
Never had any issues with either brand and both very well priced :-)

@8lue8irds I love those, where are they from?

I've been eyeing up wraps for ages

I have been getting bad allergic reactions to gels over the past few years. These are amazing but I get the ones that don't need curing....no reactions what so ever

Medstudent12 · 21/01/2024 22:37

@mindworkingovertime your nails are lovely!

I am struggling with some chipping. I wonder if lily and fox not quite as good as holy grail.

I like sally hansen hard as nails or essie gel couture as top coat. Barry M plumpy caused bubbles for me. Debating if I should buy a basecoat to use with them all too?

Lots of cuticle oil and regular pushing back and my nails are definitely looking neater!
