Nail wraps

I’ve been seduced by ads for Lily and Fox nail wraps. I love the idea of pretty manicured nails. But I’m hard on my hands (young kids so lots of handwashing and cleaning) and I’m not sure if they can possibly as good as advertised

Has anyone tried them?

I am a recent convert to these and find them great, however they mostly seem to suit wider nails, I've had to resort to trimming some with scissors before applying. Has anyone come across any that are designed for people with narrower nails? Thanks

AnneLovesGilbert · 19/12/2023 09:52

I’ve always had the same problem @lurchermummy and just had to cut them but I’d love some which fit without trimming.

Rollonfriday22 · 19/12/2023 10:41

@lurchermummy would it be worth trying the kids ones? Depending on the length of your nails. I can take a pic of my kids ones when they arrive to let you see the size.

SnapdragonToadflax · 19/12/2023 10:51

Can anyone recommend a brand that don't need a UV lamp? I can see the Oh my Gosh ones do, and I know Moyou do too.

I'm a bit paranoid about using lamps and don't get gels for the same reason.

DaveWatts · 19/12/2023 11:22

@SnapdragonToadflax I bought some from Holy Grail Nail recently that don't need a lamp and they seem pretty good!

I think most of the Oh My Gosh ones don't?

cuthbertthecat · 19/12/2023 12:07

I think glaize do them to size but they are a lot expensive.

I have holy grail nails and my they are hardwearing! I slung them on last week, have done a lot of washing up, cleaning, gym, long hot showers etc and they are still looking good. I do have to trim as I have small nails but I also get 2 rounds out of each set.

Only the semi-cured ones need a lamp. Majority don’t.

Medstudent12 · 19/12/2023 15:00

@Rollonfriday22 I think holy grail nails do some kids ones. And seen some kids ones on etsy! I like nailsera on etsy.

Medstudent12 · 19/12/2023 15:03

@SnapdragonToadflax I've also used holygrailnail and can recommend. I like etsy too (nailsera is the seller I used). I've just ordered some lily and fox too as they're cheaper.

I'm exactly the same wanting to avoid UV lamps! I think in future people will have wrinkly hands and potentially skin cancers from constant use of gels eek.

minipie · 19/12/2023 15:23

Placemarking. I don’t have polish on my fingers because normal polish chips in minutes and gels are a pain to remove. These sound perfect and much easier removal wise. Interested in the non lamp brands and also the kids options as DD2 would love.

Medstudent12 · 20/12/2023 14:15

@minipie I’d recommend nailsera off Etsy and holy grail nail. I’ve ordered some Lily and fox ones as they’re cheap but come from Aus so delivery is slow. Lots of groups on Facebook and Reddit to advise. It’s different to polish but I already much prefer it.

minipie · 20/12/2023 19:11

Thanks! Will give it a go.

12 Sheets Nail Polish Strips... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C6KG184F?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

These ones. I ordered them as the shipping was next day didn't know what they would be like but I'm impressed.

Thank you

Rollonfriday22 · 23/12/2023 10:36

My haul just arrived! Very excited.

I had only ordered kids ones but they sent a free adults pack to try so I’ve added a photo to compare the kids and adults in case it helps anyone.

These were Oh My Gosh.

My kids will LOVE them.

I got that kawaii set for my daughter as well 😁

WeAreBorg · 29/12/2023 10:02

I spied this thread and ordered a few sets from Holygrail nail to experiment with. Put them on last night only so I can’t comment on longevity but they look amazing! Thanks for the recs

Does anyone know how these wraps and their removal impact on your nails? have generally great nails but wore polish all last year and my nails were breaking which they never did before hence keen to give them a break

lurchermummy · 30/12/2023 07:40

They have t affected my nails, in fact they seem to help them grow. I found warming with a hairdryer helps - mine are just the stick on ones, both the ones that need a lamp.

Eurydice84 · 30/12/2023 07:41

I use Sassy Saints (the powder kits) and they are also good

Oh I haven’t come across powder kits. How do they work?

V easy. You apply a base coat and dip x 4, then follow with a top coat. Removal much easier than with gelf I find

Thanks I’ve just had a look they seem really good. I’d never heard of powder kits either!

DontBeAPrickDarren · 30/12/2023 12:19

I put my Christmas wraps on last Saturday and they are still going strong despite a mountain of present wrapping and unwrapping, washing up and washing hands. My nails grow quickly so starting to get a gap at the bottom but will leave them on a few more days if I can. I might make it a resolution to try to use them regularly in 2024 as they definitely make me feel more “polished” than bare nails.

littleteapotandcake · 31/12/2023 07:43

Has anyone used Holy Gels? My nails need a break from acrylics wraps seem gentler.
