Size 6 trousers with 28.5 waist?

Is this possible? It's at Me&Em.
I am after some cords and the fit guide says this, and yet the model wears the UK8.
Not sure how, since I imagine it would drown her.

Am I missing something, or are most brands just playing with the fairies at this point?

I think it depends on where the waist sits - it it’s the waist band that hits lower. Or is it a US 6?

it's high waisted! The mind boggles.

That does seem very inflated sizing. I notice too the 6 is nearly a 39 inch hip!

If they've a help function I would message them or alternatively email them.

I think I would be a 4 when I'm usually an 8 sometimes 10.

Is it US sizing, I'm size 14 and size 10 US and that looks about right.

They need to change trousers to being sold by waist size and leg length, like men's. Size 27 = 10, size 28 = 12 etc.

I noticed this weekend Asda is now stocking a 4, too.

@madeinmanc, the Asda size guide seems more standard uk sizing though.

I have emailed them so shall wait and see. I asked how the model managed to wear a size 8

I also love how it says 'we recommend your usual size', lol.

For the sizing I have no idea why they needed to put elastane in them!

@heyhohello I really like those, I wish they did this dark olive colour. I prefer a button fastening. Only others I like are at Margaret Howell and my budget ain't going there!

Yes, my Per Una ones are olive. It's a good colour.

I think they are the actual sizing of the item, rather than body measurements. So you can measure a pair of trousers to compare. If you look on their general size guide they say a UK 8 is a 26 inch waist as a general guide.

I see what you mean, but if I bought my true size they would slip right down according to that chart.

Me+Em describe their sizing as “generous “.

The waist is adjustable though, is that why? You're meant to tighten them if necessary?

I notice that there is no measurement for the inside leg length. I HATE that when they dont put the leg length.

OK they replied to me within half an hour! She was incredibly helpful and explained that the sizing chart could create misunderstanding. It is due to them being mid rise. However they don't look mid rise on the model.
Online shopping it the bane of my life, aaggh.

I was advised to purchase several sizes. Not exactly great for the planet, which proves it isn't just the lower end of fast fashion that sucks. We need a new standard of sizing in the UK.
