Help with finding a gift for my wife

I had posted this in the Christmas thread, but wondered if I might get some help here? While my wife isn't hugely label driven, she does like nice things. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Mumsnetters,

Me again with my annual thread looking for gift advice for my wife. In return, I will give top tips on male gifts (no we don't want cheap cycling gear. Yes we do want expensive hiking boots).

My wife (46, outdoorsy, dog loving) has had a rough few months with the passing of her father, so I'm keen to get her something special. Holidays are out as we have one booked in Feb. All I have to work with this year is that she seemingly loves everything from Wolf and Badger, likes Penhalligon's perfume and I have a note in my phone that says "Rosa's T Gloves" but no idea what it means. Only that I made a note of it when she mentioned them at some point...

Help!

Get her a lovely pair of Rosa T gloves. They're very in.

"and I imagine that all women like exactly the same things. "

You've obviously never read Style and Beauty if you think this 😳

I love outdoor things @Carleatspeas
have asked for Toast Chup Fairisle socks and I like ( but haven't asked for because I have lots ) the Toast Chamula Hand Knit Hat.
Id also really love a Kate Sheridan Orbed Tab bag
But I see that today there is 20% off the Telegram bags at Kate Sheridan - these are also fab

The bag is definitely a possibility. Although to me it looks exactly the same as one I could buy from Claire's accessories for £15. She'll know the difference through...

Saying that, every time I buy some sort of lotion or potion for her I am stunned that the price per ml is more expensive than refined Horseshoe Crab blood.

Don't play with me on the Rosa T gloves...

You sound great to me, OP. How about something doggy www.doghouse.co.uk/products/nina-ottosson-multipuzzle-level-4

It's nice, but I feel she'd get bored of it after a while and would end up palming it off to the dog.

Hmmm, tan, black, grape?

i think I like grape but I'm worried it's a bit dark.

Crikey why is everyone so hostile 😭 I'd think it was so nice if my partner ventured onto mumsnet to try and find inspiration! Also I've seen a shit load of "what to buy my DH for Christmas" threads and there's no bitchiness whatsoever!

OP does your partner like jewellery? I'm always delighted to get new earrings or a new necklace. Also is she into cooking? As some of my ninja gadgets have been my favourite gifts over the years 😂 what else does she enjoy doing? What about a nice spa gift experience for her and a friend? Also Etsy do beautiful handmade gifts if you just search "gifts for wife" on there is will give you loads of ideas. Also I love notonthehighstreet for quirky unusual gifts that would never occur to me to buy until I saw them!

kerstina · 29/11/2024 11:06

I know what DH has got me as he ordered silk pyjamas in front of me. They will last me a while and worth the money . I would have loved a beauty advent calender from Harvey nicks but all sold out now. I think beauty advents make wonderful gifts but it is always too late by the time he asks me what I want . I would appreciate anything cashmere a beanie , socks , nice jumper. Does she know what colours suit her best ? Just thinking about colour analysis as a gift.
Can you a recommended beans to cup coffee maker please?

CharlotteRumpling · 29/11/2024 11:18

Books: Olivia Laing has a newish book out called The Garden against Time about creating a garden in Suffolk. Not read it but I hear it's good.

I messed up on the advent calendar. Was going to get her the Liberty one but it sold out. There doesn't seem to be anything decent left?

With regard to the coffee machine, it really depends on how much you want to spend. Gaggia Velasca Prestige is meant to be good. The sage barista is the go to for most people but that isn't a one button fire and forget affair.

All expensive stuff though.

A Spa day I'd consider, but she's terrible about actually going to these things and I fear that the voucher would go unused.

Claires accessories!!? I'm shocked! Get ye to hell you heathen!! Anyway, I assure you that she'll definitely know the difference.. Grape is fab.. but Tan Maybe the safer choice ( but then I'd definitely prefer grape! )

CharlotteRumpling · 29/11/2024 12:08

Is she an expensive bag person? I most definitely am not. I wouldn't buy Claire's Accessories but I would be happy with a Fossil or even an M and S bag. I'd rather use the money on something else.

But yes, the grape is a better colour.

SheTookChances

A man comes on mumsnet because he doesn’t listen to his wife well through the year, to get other women to do the work for him. And he tries, and fails, to be funny. 🤢
I think he’s funny! I’d love my husband to compile a list based off what women want!!

gingercat02 · 29/11/2024 12:27

So hard OP, the only fashiony thing I want is good warm leather gloves.
