I can't do this alone folks. I've got TOO MUCH STUFF... I also have 2 beauty advent calendars

So I've set myself a challenge. Between now and June the 1st 2024 I will not buy any beauty products UNLESS I've run out of all of that particular type. If I've got a tiny sample bottle of shampoo or conditioner I'll use it all up. All those half used bottles of moisturiser, night cream, shower gel and toner and body lotion MUST GO... the mountain of soap must be surmounted.

My only concession is that I will not cancel the Liberty Beauty drop will get a couple of boxes to cheer me up

So if you want to join me make up your own rules and lets cull that stash

@Peridot1 Just seen you being miffed on the LIberty BD thread that someone has listed the contents of the box. I felt the same, surprise has been spoilt now. I wouldn't have minded someone putting up the link but wasn't expecting to see a full list Biscuit

Also I've been meaning to ask how your sister is doing post transplant? Is she recovering well now? Sorry I know the question is a bit belated but for some reason it came into my head when I woke up in the night.

@listsandbudgets - thanks for your support on the other thread! I didn’t think I was harsh but I’d been avoiding looking at the link when others posted it.

My sister is doing ok thanks but the new liver isn’t behaving too well. So she is going in to hospital next week for a couple of nights for a biopsy and to see if they can figure out what is going on. Could be rejection or could be her immune system attacking the new liver as it did the old one. They are struggling to reduce some of her meds and she shouldn’t be on too high a dose of some by now but if they try to reduce she doesn’t react well.

listsandbudgets · 09/04/2024 19:38

@Peridot1 I'm sorry to hear that it's not going as hoped. Neither option (rejection of attack) sounds good. Hopefully it's something that can be controlled with the right balance of meds until they can decide how to tackle it.

rejection OR attack

Second that. Sending positive thoughts her direction. 💐

I put the link up last week so my fault, sorry. I came across it by accident. I hate spoilers (but know other people like to know what's coming) so put 'spoiler' on my post. Slightly surprised anyone would list the items. On the Haeckels thread we talk very cryptically until everyone has their box 😆

Minnie123456 · 09/04/2024 23:03

@listsandbudgets thank you for the welcome. I blame the S&B threads I never knew the wonderful world of beauty boxes and advent calendars existed until I started reading these threads lol.

Peridot1 · 09/04/2024 23:17

Thanks @listsandbudgets and @OchonAgusOchonOh.

@Cyclingmummy1 - not your fault. The link is fine as we can choose not to look. As a lot of us did!

I had been so good, but had run out of some HG’s and needed to do some orders for my DDs Bdays coming up. I know that sometimes Stylevana can take months so I have done two orders. They’re actually not wild or extravagant at all, but have some beautiful, useful, personal bits and bobs, plus sunscreens. (I will never not be me.) I can’t wait for the lip oils to arrive. I ordered some unusual ones. Will report.

Peridot1 · 10/04/2024 08:19

My Cult Beauty Sun Edit arrived yesterday. Really good value. Very pleased with it. The Paula’s Choice SPF is £39 alone and the whole box was £40. Three full size sunscreens.

OMGitsnotgood · 10/04/2024 08:33

My dressing table was a cluttered mess. I laid all my products on the bed, grouping them by type. I then put the most empty bottle/pot of each product type back on the dressing table to use first. I've bagged the others by type and put in a box in my wardrobe, will take the next most empty bottle/tub out to replace used up ones . Plan is not to buy anything new until I run out completely, but it's difficult to avoid a bargain!
Am planning on doing similar with makeup and bathroom toiletries but haven't got there yet.

Peridot1 · 10/04/2024 08:55

That’s a good way to do it @OMGitsnotgood. I’m pretty good at not opening things until I’ve finished its predecessor. But yet still end up with a few similar things open at the same time.

Fraaahnces · 11/04/2024 22:54

@OMGitsnotgood your stash fits on your dressing table??? I’m going to do the same but in my bed. I ordered from Stylevana a month ago and they are still “processing” the order. Bit frustrating. I kind of want to get rid of crap before more comes into my life. I did get rid of a heap of ancient lipglosses and lipsticks so that’s something. I have realised that at my wise old age I don’t like matte lipstick and probably never did. They’re all gone. Never again. My favourites are always the transparent balmy ones that they’re currently teething to pass off as new formulas but we know have been around forever. (Clinique Black Honey, anyone?) Romand’s version (Korean Brand) is called Melting Glasting Balm and the formula is amazingly soothing. I wear it at work every day. As it’s about 1/3rd the price when not on sale I don’t mind going through it at a rapid rate of knots when my lips get chapped in the air conditioning.

listsandbudgets · 15/04/2024 14:13

Please can I have a medal... I went to a hotel on Friday night.. took no toiletries except toothbrush and toothpaste used the ones that were there AND left the little bits that were left in the bottles at the hotel. This is almost unheard of for me! Normally I chuck the lot in my bag and bring it home to hang around in my cupboard for a few months years before I get round to using them Grin

I've used up 43 items so far this year and I think stash is looking a teeny tiny bit smaller but as I seem to have a sticking point abut putting the whole lot in one place all at once it's not that easy to tell.

I have just finished a half litre bottle of shampoo which seems to have gone on forever so I can finally start on some of my smaller bottles / half finished ones.

I've got at least 4 tubes of elastizer and I've decided to try using it in place of normal conditioner which I've actually run out of. I never seem to have time to use it properly - will report back as to whether its any good

listsandbudgets · 15/04/2024 14:16

@OMGitsnotgood That sounds a very organised way to deal with your stash. I'm trying to only use one thing at a time at the moment - although I do have 14 bottles of shower gel / oil / cream on the go at the moment and I dare not even count the perfumes but well over 20

OP posts:
OMGitsnotgood · 15/04/2024 14:20

your stash fits on your dressing table???

It's built into a recess with shelves above, with baskets full of products to, so not just the dressing table. I also have a drawer full of makeup, an airing cupboard, and a tiered stand in the bathroom!!

Peridot1 · 15/04/2024 14:44

Well done @listsandbudgets! I gave up taking things from hotels a long time ago when we lived in Asia and travelled a lot and I always took the bathroom minis. Ended up with so many! Then realised I never used them up as I actually prefer my own stuff. It was a hard habit to break though.

mdinbc · 15/04/2024 19:35

I've been doing really well. I'm only re-purchasing what I am actually out of. I did buy a new Avene toner, since I use it twice a day and I go through it fairly quickly.

I even cleaned out the bottom of a bottle of Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless filter, and put it in an eye-contact case. You would be amazed at the amount of product cannot be reached with the little wand. I've got one more little glowy primer but can't remember the brand (maybe Smashbox?). I will use that up next.

I have learned that I don't like face oil, glad it was a small sample.

narniabusiness · 15/04/2024 20:27

Still doing well here too. The only thing I bought was some nail varnish remover as the one I had was drying out my nails. It advertised itself as acetone free. Very pleased with how I’m doing. But I daren’t join the no buy clothes thread

listsandbudgets · 16/04/2024 22:54

oh dear... box came and one item had leaked all over everything else so sent an email to complain amd they're sending out a whole new box!!

that puts my net at 5.. oh well

Minnie123456 · 16/04/2024 23:04

I've been having a little look on liberty and boots, I haven't bought anything. To satisfy my urge to buy something I went and opened all the drawers in my H&B AC as I had forgotten what was in them😂

I'm waiting on my BD box so that will add to my stash again 🤦‍♀️

TheChosenTwo · 16/04/2024 23:10

I’ve used up another load of things, will attach a pic tomorrow. It’s quite motivating being able to use things up and show off the empty containers!
Other than the BD 4 boxes a year I don’t get any and haven’t done for years, I used to have about 6 a month then realised it was all things I’d used before or didn’t like, the majority of it all was passed on. So cancelled and now just have big spends at space nk whenever I’m running out of things (okay or just fancy treating myself!). Bought an advent calendar last year for the first year in a while too, it’s been nice using the bits from there.

TheChosenTwo · 17/04/2024 14:41

Quick Recap:
Glossier moon mask - crap, decluttering!
By Nature foot balm- okay, wouldn’t buy again
Refy lip buff exfoliant - nice but felt the applicator was unhygienic
Augustinus Bader - used as a body lotion, too greasy for my face
CEO - fine, not a vitamin C that does much for me
SpaceNK scrub - divine, will rebuy.
Good Genes - nice, have a few more to use, possibly would rebuy
Malin and goetz - used as a handcream at my desk, nice and not greasy
Aesop face mist - weird, felt quite nice but left a film and the spray was a bit intense
Soap and Glory - basic but does the job
Teeny DE peptide cream - fine, have a big one I’m using up, boring but nothing wrong with it

Fraaahnces · 17/04/2024 14:53

Glossier question please…
Has anyone used Futuredew? Can you describe it please???

TheChosenTwo · 17/04/2024 15:04

@Fraaahnces it leaves me looking far too shiny for my liking! I imagine on much more youthful glasslike skin it’s perfect (although even my dd2 decluttered hers!) but on my textured slightly more mature skin it wasn’t something that I liked personally.
Depends as always on your preference though, some people will absolutely love the luminosity.
