Cartier ring - decisions decisions!

Finally, my chance to post about high end stuff after plugging Uniqlo and Next on here for years!

I have always loved Cartier jewellery and am now very fortunate to be able to choose a wedding band from there.

I have 2 favourite styles I've loved forever, both Cartier classics, and now have to pick one! The 'Love' or 'Trinity' in either gold or tricolour.
CRB4085000 - LOVE wedding band - Yellow gold - Cartier
Trinity ring (cartier.com)

Any opinions, experiences etc that would sway me one way or the other would be much appreciated! I'm 100% committed to one of the two though, and won't be entertaining other options. If you hate them both and just want to come on and tell me that.... be my guest I suppose, I don't really care Grin

I love the Trinity ring , the bands move don’t they? I have a sterling silver Russian Wedding Ring that I sometimes wear on my right hand but they are impossible to not fiddle with 😃.

My DD would love the Cartier Love Bangle …..they are £££

HawthornLantern · 24/10/2023 15:03

If you are looking for points of view, I think your stunning engagement ring would be better complemented by the simplicity of the Love band. I think it would “fight” the Trinity, which deserves to have a finger all on its own. That said, I think everyone saying you need to try the rings in person are spot on - this may be one of those questions you simply cannot decide in theory. (Personally I’d choose the Cartier Panther :))

Daftapath · 24/10/2023 15:19

I would be concerned that the square edge of the first ring would damage your engagement ring and that you would eventually lose a stone from it.

I'm not sure that the Russian wedding ring would go with an engagement ring.

I think you need to try them on together to see whether they work. It would be a shame if they detract rather than compliment each other.

Claricestarling1 · 24/10/2023 15:48

I’d go for the love with an engagement ring such as yours as your ring is quite detailed and i think the trinity ring would be a bit busy next to it? Plus I’m a fan of the classic Cartier love design 💕

AgentProvocateur · 24/10/2023 17:34

The Trinity is beautiful.

quickqpls · 24/10/2023 17:41

I love the 'love' one but do feel celebrities did it to death in 2022, with the bangle also, so it feels a bit faddy (everyone will know what year you got married :) I would love one, so not being critical just making a point.

I don't like trinity rings so won't comment there.

Notellinganyone · 24/10/2023 17:51

I have to say I think they’re both ugly. The first one particularly.

mynamechangemyrules · 24/10/2023 18:02

Oh no, I'm going to be the first mean one 😳😫 Not meaning to be, but I had the Love band in the early 2000s and feel it is a very dated look. Looks chunky on and wouldn't go with your engagement ring at all, in my personal opinion.
I have had a non Cartier trinity ring and think the same about it. Not a classic look at all for either and totally different vibe to your engagement band.

I got a simple band made from the best quality I could afford. It had to be white gold so as not to rub my engagement ring which was an antique one. Plain and simple and the same 'type' as my engagement band.

However, you can very much ignore me as I'm a jaded old divorced person 😂 Have kept the engagement ring as it was my great grandmothers'!

Nodashians · 24/10/2023 18:32

I prefer the Trinity ring, I don’t think either go with the engagement ring.
I like the Trinity ring with the diamonds that a PP suggested the best.

Trinity65 · 24/10/2023 18:38

Lucky You OP :)

Never been to Cartier but if I had to choose I would choose the Trinity ring.

Petrine · 24/10/2023 19:20

I like the Trinity ring best out of the two but I don’t like the Cartier wording on it.

as others have said you need to put the wedding ring on with your engagement ring before making a decision.

Netaporter · 24/10/2023 20:03

@Saggypants how lovely for you! The trinity is lovely looking but DH bought me one for Xmas one year but it didn’t seem to sit right on me. I swapped it for a plain band from the ‘spiral’ range at Graff which sits much better with an engagement-style ring. It is a little more money but worth considering IMO. Enjoy shopping!

Saggypants · 24/10/2023 20:29

Thanks all.

I'm very much leaning towards the Trinity ring as I wasn't aware how trend/celebrity driven the Love ring's popularity is and that's really not my thing. (Still love the design though!)

Taking on board the advice about combining it with my engagement ring and have a plan B up my sleeve to explore wearing the rings on different fingers once I get to sit down and try things on.

Your engagement ring is beautiful and imho deserves a simple band to let it sing. It is good that you are going to a maison to try them on but be warned that you might find neither one is comfortable.

Dotcheck · 24/10/2023 20:35

Holy shit your engagement ring is beautiful!

NashvilleQueen · 24/10/2023 20:43

I know it's a popular design but the love band just makes me think of a no entry sign.

windmill26 · 24/10/2023 20:47

My very classy friend wears the Trinity (it is her wedding ring) and I always thought how fabulous and different it looks from the usual wedding rings.

tintinandhisdogsnowy · 24/10/2023 20:48

I've got the trinity with stones. I love it. It's v comfortable, classic and goes with everything

AllegroConMoto · 24/10/2023 20:50

I think the Love band could look dated quite quickly as it’s having a bit of a moment currently.

The Trinity band is lovely, but would it stand up to / would it be comfortable being worn all day every day?

From a practical perspective, I would suggest having another couple of rings in mind to try on as well, just in case neither one feels right when you try them in person.

mdinbc · 24/10/2023 20:51

I like the Trinity better as it's a classic and not gimmicky. I just wonder how it would fit with an engagement ring. You'd be best off going into a store and trying them together. I also like their classic 1895 plain rounded band in the largest size, 5mm. It's solid and will always look good.

Lemonademoney · 24/10/2023 20:52

Have always loved their trinity band so east decision for me

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 24/10/2023 20:53

I love Russian wedding rings but they never look right with an additional engagement ring. Would you consider wearing your engagement ring on your right hand?

Covetthee · 24/10/2023 20:56

OP don’t know how you have achieved it but 3 pages in and not a single ‘my wedding band cost £1 and it’sthe meaning that matters not the price , buy a cheap one and donate rest to charity’

👏🏽 so refreshing to see

Unicorn2022 · 24/10/2023 21:07

I've got the Trinity ring and wear it on my right hand as it doesn't fit nicely against my engagement ring and is a beautiful ring in its own right, rather than being squashed against another ring.

I've tried on the love ring and it's bigger and chunkier than it looks, I don't think it would go very well with your stunning and delicate engagement ring.

wildwestpioneer · 24/10/2023 21:16

The trinity without a doubt.
