Cartier ring - decisions decisions!

Finally, my chance to post about high end stuff after plugging Uniqlo and Next on here for years!

I have always loved Cartier jewellery and am now very fortunate to be able to choose a wedding band from there.

I have 2 favourite styles I've loved forever, both Cartier classics, and now have to pick one! The 'Love' or 'Trinity' in either gold or tricolour.
CRB4085000 - LOVE wedding band - Yellow gold - Cartier
Trinity ring (cartier.com)

Any opinions, experiences etc that would sway me one way or the other would be much appreciated! I'm 100% committed to one of the two though, and won't be entertaining other options. If you hate them both and just want to come on and tell me that.... be my guest I suppose, I don't really care Grin

Are you able to go and try them on with the engagement ring to see what sits best? As a wedding band, I personally like the trinity. Probably as it is more classic as so many have the Love band and wear it as a normal ring, so I don't think it would feel as special if that makes sense?

HeavenKnowsIamMiserableNow · 24/10/2023 12:37

I am not much use on this sort of stuff, but can I just say that I am boggled that you haven’t had one sarky begrudging comment.

Wear it well and enjoy it.

I am pleasantly surprised too! Grin

@AgMaggy I have an appointment at the Cartier 5th Avenue Mansion which I expect is going to be very overwhelming so I'm hoping to have a pretty clear idea of what I want going in. Wasn't planning on taking my good jewellery on holiday to the States with me for security reasons, but you're right, I do need to try them together.

i know you said you don’t want suggestions but the trinity with the stone setting is also beautiful and works great as a wedding band.

Love this!

qotsa · 24/10/2023 12:48

I much prefer the more simple Love wedding band one. I like simple jewellery though and am not a fan of rose gold at all.

CloudyAgain · 24/10/2023 12:51

I love both of them! However trinity rings are quite commonly found and the love ring is clearly cartier and borderline iconic (and I would LOVE one!).

Sconehenge · 24/10/2023 12:52

I think the trinity too. I know you said you don’t want suggestions but the chaumet bee my love rings are also wonderful wedding rings and have similar luxury status.

Ithinkitstimeforbed · 24/10/2023 12:55

I think when you try them on you’ll know! I tried both and the love band just looked chunky and wrong on my finger. I have the trinity ring and I love it, I’ve had it for over 5 years now I think and wear it daily, on my right hand on my middle finger. I mix my metals all the time though which I know some people don’t like.

Zaza87 · 24/10/2023 12:56

Firstly congratulations on your engagement! I'm not sure I'd choose either style with the oval centre stone of your engagement ring (which is beautiful by the way).
I also have a vintage ring, an oval ruby with a halo of diamonds.
I tried lots of 'off the shelf ' wedding rings and it just irritated me that there was too much of a gap between the two rings; it didn't look right.
In the end I commissioned a bespoke wedding ring made to fit flush with the engagement ring. Would that be an option you'd consider?

Ithinkitstimeforbed · 24/10/2023 12:58

Also I have the Cartier love bracelet and I must admit it looks quite worn now, my trinity ring is definitely duller than it was but doesn’t look as old as the bracelet!

DressingRoom · 24/10/2023 12:59

Neither is my thing, OP, which is irrelevant, but, objectively, neither look to me as if they would work at all well with your engagement ring -- are you planning to wear them together?

Sgtmajormummy · 24/10/2023 13:02

There are a couple of points for wearing a Trinity ring.

As they’re interlocking, each ring has to be slightly larger than your original finger size. I find that if it’s cold or I lose weight it can slip off! No problem if you’re wearing your engagement ring on top.

There’s a knack to getting it to lie properly. Don’t roll it down your finger, rather jingle it in your palm until it falls in a perfect circle, then place it on your finger. That way you avoid scratches.

Peridot1 · 24/10/2023 13:03

I agree with others that I don’t think either of them will work with your engagement ring.

Fiftyvines · 24/10/2023 13:04

I like the Trinity, stylish and classy. The loveband looks chunky and I think the design 'cheapens' it.

Verite1 · 24/10/2023 13:04

I like the trinity best (love it in fact) but I’m not sure if it would go with your wedding band. I would probably wear it as a standalone ring. But do try them together - I hope I’m wrong.

BIWI · 24/10/2023 13:08

I prefer the style of the Trinity one, but absolutely hate that it has the brand name on it. Naff! (And presumably that's what you're paying for?!)

EerilyDecorated · 24/10/2023 13:09

I agree that both may not go with your engagement ring, the Russian ones are normally worn alone and the Love one might look a bit mismatched unless your engagement ring also has a flat (as opposed to D) profile. The engravings on it might distract from the beauty of the engagement ring too. On the other hand if you think you might want an eternity ring in future the love ring would probably work better. You definitely need to try them on with it.

SoddingWeddings · 24/10/2023 13:11

I think when you go in for your appointment, be open to trying more styles with your engagement ring. I'm not sure about it the fit with it, so you might be disappointed if they don't work in person the way you hope.

Sgtmajormummy · 24/10/2023 13:14

As I said above, I wear my multi ring on the other hand and it’s been modified to 4 rings. I think the Trinity would mound itself to the engagement ring.
Sorry for the wrinkly hands!

IsThereABarUpThere · 24/10/2023 13:27

The first one as it's one of the original Cartier rings. You can recognise it a mile off!

The second one looks bulky and a bit grannyish.

HappiDaze · 24/10/2023 13:39

I prefer the gold band. Simple and elegant but with that Cartier twist

I've never been fond of Trinity rings so I don't think especially for a wedding band it would work for me.

HappiDaze · 24/10/2023 13:43

That said it looks lovely on @Sgtmajormummy finger

AutumIsOrange · 24/10/2023 14:00

The first looks too ‘fashion’ for a wedding ring (and there are so many knock offs of it these days).

The second is preferable but I don’t think it’ll work with your engagement ring and (if this is the case), seeing the word ‘Cartier’ on your wedding ring is a little déclassé in my vho.

thinkfast · 24/10/2023 14:02

I prefer the Russian wedding ring, assuming you're Christian. I love the love ring too, but not as a wedding ring.
