I want to smell like the ocean - perfume ideas

Hi! I loved Body Shop Oceanus - I can't find anything similar or that smells like the ocean at all - every summery thing I have tried smells of coconut!

I don't want to smell like men's aftershave. Just the ocean.

Waterlily Tea Dress from Zara. Or L'Eau d'Issey.

Not a perfume, but Wild do a Cotton and sea salt deodorant which is lovely

Slightly salty with a hint of fish?

Ooh I wondered about L'Eau d'Issey. Our local boots keeps it all locked away and there's never anyone with a key around at lunch time!

Eau de Issy Miyake is my ride or die scent but I wouldn’t put it in the seaside category - it’s quite rich smelling, definitely an evening perfume

Perfume wise I like 4160 Tuesday’s What I did on my holidays - they have a few beachy scents so you could order a pack of mini bottles to try

I was just about to say L’eau d’Issey. M&S Isis was a good dupe for it but I doubt they do it now.

Inis is the most beautiful beachy scent.
Anytime I wear it I get asked what I'm wearing.
I have a lot of v expensive perfume but Inis is the one I get asked or told I smell gorgeous.

Not relevant but does anyone remember Colors from benetton. I loved that. Can you still get it?

It goes for cucumber rather than coconut and has musky and floral tones. I've got a sample and just sprayed some on to double check. It's salty.
I actually don't like it and have been using it as air freshener in the bathroom (where it works perfectly!), but that's a good sign as I don't like fresh, ocean smells.

Isis from M&S is clean but floral so wouldn't have been what you were after.

There's a gorgeous Armani one that's been around forever. Acqua di Gio? Or whatever the female version is.

Mac do one called Turquatic which, from memory, smells quite similar to Body Shop one.

Escape by Calvin Klein. No idea if you can still buy it though.

I'd suggest getting a sample set from 4160 Tuesdays, and including a sample of Warm Sands, Blue Ocean.

I'd also include samples of Saltburn Driftwood, and Wash Me in the Water to add to that watery theme, but I don't think they're quite the ones you're looking for.

Eau de Merveilles Bleue by Hermes ... I was gifted this when the Jour de Hermes I'd asked for was out of stock so was initially slightly disappointed but it's really grown on me since. I definitely get a 'standing on the sea shore' feel as soon as I put it on .... there's saltiness, but a slightly sweet, almost aniseed freshness too. Very difficult to describe properly - it's not an in your face scent at all, but it lasts well and to my nose, smells 'classy'.

You can often get batches of 2ml samples on eBay which work out cheaper than buying a larger bottle.
