this is an American link because I can't get Schuh's to work as a link, but I got these here in the UK from Schuh.

of course, my sister laughed her arse off and said they were fug and my mother did one of her sighs again.

Who made fun of your sandals? Your sister? Crazy. They are perfectly good sandals, look very comfy too. Maybe she was determined to make fun of something - anything - today?

MrsBadger · 05/03/2008 12:11

they certainly look very practical

I wouldn;t have called them 'sandals' though - more like trainers

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 12:43

Oh, my mother and sister are the types who can traipse around in heels all day.

I can wear them, just not for hours on end.

I am going away next weekend, as my mother and her sister are coming to Madrid, and I've threatened to bring nothing but them with me if the weather is warm .

I'm with your sister. They are fug.

SheherazadetheGoat · 05/03/2008 12:45

they are horrendous expat but i think you know that.

SmartArse · 05/03/2008 12:46

Yeah, sorry, Expat, but they're not exactly sophisticated, are they?! Very comfy, I'm sure, but not pretty.

Mind you, it's none of your sister's business - she doesn't have to wear them, does she??

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 12:46

They're practical. You can wear them with trousers or long skirts.

This part of the country never gets warm enough or dry enough to wear a true sandal.

They're a good colour and go with lots.

I saw them and it was love at first site.

They can keep all their strappy sandals with heels.

I'll bet I'll be the only person in Madrid with such unique footwear .

MamaG · 05/03/2008 12:47

for fucks sake expat they are AWFUL

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 12:47

I envy my sister her tiny toes. She can wear all kinds of shoes that I cannot because my big toe is a Brazil nut.

OP posts:
Psychomum5 · 05/03/2008 12:47

you are going to madrid.

they look good to me!!! I am now unable to wear heels since my last car accident, (which is driving me nuts, but no point ranting as can't change it), meaning I am now having to find comfy nice shoes, boots, pretty shoes, practical shoes, etc......I may have to get some for me

not looking much like sandles tho TBH, more trainery-ish. nice tho

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 12:48

My mother heaved one of her sighs and said, 'Well, they're not as bad as those Crocs . . . '

OP posts:
BroccoliSpears · 05/03/2008 12:48

Fug is a good word.

Wotz · 05/03/2008 12:48

are you going to wear socks with them?

SheherazadetheGoat · 05/03/2008 12:48

your mother is mad they are much worse!

Yes, psycho.

DH is taking the girls through to Edinburgh for a long weekend and staying with his folks and catching up with some pals, so he'll be enjoying himself and the girls will be getting spoilt.

I'm leaving on Friday and coming back on Monday.

There is no way I'm going to bring impractical shoes there, all those damn cobbled streets.

I was asked nicely, however, to 'please bring a suitable pair of shoes to go out to dinner and something other than jeans.'

Well, my waist is thickening already so I haven't got much to wear that is decent.

They'll just have to be embarrassed. Too bad.

welll, see.......pregnancy hormones too......means you win....

Disenchanted · 05/03/2008 12:51

They look like Jesus sandals.

No, I won't wear socks with them and promised to paint my toes.

And my Crocs are the shocking pink Cayman type you can see a mile away, so maybe she's right in that these are better than that.

OP posts:
SheherazadetheGoat · 05/03/2008 12:52

why is your waist thickening [nosey]?

SheherazadetheGoat · 05/03/2008 12:53

get yourself some campers there is a good discount store near madrid - they are comfie and moderately stylish.

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 12:53

because i am pregnant.

that's why i love these shoes all the more!

they're adjustable, so if my feet swell that's more practical.

i think they look very 'street', myself.

my sister said they look like orthopaedic shoes for grannies.

cow.

OP posts:
DrNortherner · 05/03/2008 12:54

You will not be allowed through customs at Madrid if you wear those.

monkeybutler · 05/03/2008 12:54

Yikes. Are you going rock climbing?
