this is an American link because I can't get Schuh's to work as a link, but I got these here in the UK from Schuh.

of course, my sister laughed her arse off and said they were fug and my mother did one of her sighs again.

I think Expat is one of those women who you look at ...
and she is really beautiful, with lovely clothes, and then suddenly you notice their god-for-saken- f**king awful shoes. And you wonder how someone with such class and style could ......
ha ha, I have made myself laff

NomDePlume · 05/03/2008 15:03

Oh gawd.

They are awfully practical

AitchTwoOh · 05/03/2008 15:07

oh jeeeesus expat they are villainous. those hormones, love, they're doing you a mischief.

AitchTwoOh · 05/03/2008 15:07

have you told sis and mum the news yet? are they thrilled?

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 15:10

I am the only one afflicted, Wall, although my father has bad dress sense and one time when my sister and I were young he came home from work and my sister gaped, 'Was it Tacky Day at work today? Because you won hands down.' I thought he looked okay.

It is a constant source of consternation to my poor mother, who once wrung her hands and said, 'But I don't understand why you want to wear such ugly shoes. How do you even come to pick them out?'

My sister says I am cursed with the fashion sense of Whoopi Goldberg.

She also said she would never wear such fug sandals because a) they are hideous and b) they would give her feet uneven tan lines - God forbid!

Yes, I've told them, Aitch.

My mother lit candles in Church and Sis prays for me during Mass.

Yes, this was the same sister who accused me of deliberately dressing to embarrass her when we were teens.

I never told her, but sometimes, she was right about that .

I love Tevas, lapin. I had them before they got trendy.

Also some Chocos and Keen sandals that I adored.

Great in Boulder after a hard hike or climb to slip those on, or for a stream crossing.

ROFL at the trendy tevas. oh yes.

lovely about your mum lighting candles, expat.

Oblomov · 05/03/2008 15:14

You are right there.

Now these are a truly great sandal for a warm climate - I still have my pair from 7 years ago!

Salomon's are terrific, lapin.

Very long-wearing, too.

Ex h had a pair of Salomon approach shoes that really took a beating and he even climbed low grade rock pitches in them to save time on long routes - I never went on those because you had to free solo those low grade pitches for speed so you had time to rope up for the harder ones before the lightning came through.

They lasted two very long seasons of very heavy use.

Nooooo! They are hideous (mind you, I come over all faint at the thought of Crocs!)

Please don't get your sis's suggestion of the wood ones... I have some wooden platform/mules and they are so berluddy uncomfortable as they don't bend with the foot when walking and are certainly no good when pg!

what about these? The best of both worlds, not too girly but v comfortable?

expatinscotland · 05/03/2008 15:24

I have those, helli!

In brown.

She bought them for me in a desperate attempt to shore me up.

But I wear them with stripey socks .

O.K. now I'm starting to get really worried.
Or did the rest of you all know about this fetish ?
Do you put such vile shoes on your girls aswell Expat ?
Your not worried about then being teased, over YOUR bad taste, then , are you ?

That I regularly wore with socks.

O.K. Expat, now you are just doing it for effect/shock. Come on. She must be winding us up. No one could have this poor taste.
