I want to smell like A luxurious hotel lobby

You walk into a sophisticated hotel, jazzy music playing, no harsh or bright lights but dim, soft lighting and that spicy, sexy smell hits. Does anyone know what I mean? Would love a perfume that smells like that for nights out during winter. Any recommendations? I only have fresh, clean ‘green’ perfumes but getting bored of them.

I have no idea but totally interested! I loved your description!

The last luxury hotel I went to a had a cinnamony smell

listsandbudgets · 15/09/2023 10:57

I don't know OP but you're making me want to take a tour of high class hotel lobbies. I will watch this thread with interest

headcheffer · 15/09/2023 10:59

It's usually a faint oud smell. Try some oud based perfumes.

Mybasilplantispastitsbest · 15/09/2023 11:00

If you’ve ever been to a soho house they usually smell yum and are a mix of their candles (which they do in body lotions etc).

Scruffington · 15/09/2023 11:02

Funnily enough I saw a Tiktok yesterday where someone was describing a particular vanilla fragrance as smelling like a luxurious hotel lobby,

Cropcycle · 15/09/2023 11:05

What an interesting thread. I’ve been testing one that I can imagine someone wearing as they drift through a luxurious hotel. Try Precious Oud by Van Cleef & Arpels. Very gentle on the oud .

kittykatrawks · 15/09/2023 11:06

Or amber...

botemp · 15/09/2023 11:11

Ritz Carlton hotels sell theirs in various forms, as perfume/cologne but also candles, diffusers, etc. I think they have an online shop but their lobby scent differ per location. I suspect other luxury hotel chains will do similar.

evtheria · 15/09/2023 11:14

I once went somewhere very cool and sexy, and the foyer smelt like '12am' incense by Cinnamon Projects, it was so good and atmospheric, I've tried (unsuccessfully) emulating it a few times.

Maybe these, these should be easy to find at department stores or eBay for samples:
• Jazz Club
• Angels Share
• Myrrh & Tonka
• Ombré Nomade
• Oud Palao
• Oud Rosewood

LolaJ87 · 15/09/2023 11:15

Your description makes me think of Kayali Invite Only Amber.

tt9 · 15/09/2023 11:16

try Arabian oud company. in terms of for yourself, buy the non alcohol based attars rather than spray perfume. lasts longer and smells waay better. I am a particular fan of their musk based perfume

for your house, you can buy bakhoor from the same place (its a type of incense). oil burners are good too

Rose Dunes by Molton Brown has this aura for me. Spicy and sultry...I love it!

her name is carolinemstern and the hotel lobby vid looks to be the 13th one down on her page

BarborousBarbra · 15/09/2023 11:38

I'd go for a rose and oud scent, or if looking for something vanilla-y Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille would fit the bill.

AutumnColour89 · 15/09/2023 12:16

Try the Narcisso Rodriguez Musc Noir and Musc Noir Rose- it's one of those two I smelt before and it smells exactly like the hotel I got married in.

Thank you! I spent 40 minutes mesmerised by her video’s especially the vanilla ones. I’m not usually a fan of sugary vanilla smells but the way she speaks about them sounds tempting.

She has two hotel lobby videos, the vanilla one you mentioned and another further down from July.

There's a very expensive hotel in Venice (think 1k a night) that pumps out (for want of a more classy phrase) aqua de parma cologne, which i unisex but quite masculine and gorgeous.

evilharpy · 15/09/2023 12:35

Tom Ford Amber Absolute. Sadly discontinued but Perfume Parlour do a dupe that's a dead ringer.

TizerorFizz · 15/09/2023 12:43

@catsnhats11 I have AdiP Camelia. Also Vaniglia. Always smell expensive!

Go to a shop and try a range from Acqua di Parma. @Whispersandsecrets Then go on line and look for discounts.

That’s my plan this weekend, perfume testing. I expect I’ll have a raging headache by the end of the day but I don’t care because I’ll smell so good 😁

Enjoy your testing session. If you’re going on a serious mission it might help to take a small bag of coffee beans if you have any as it really does seem to refresh your sense of smell after you start to go nose blind . I’d love to know what you get if you buy something.
