I want to smell like A luxurious hotel lobby

You walk into a sophisticated hotel, jazzy music playing, no harsh or bright lights but dim, soft lighting and that spicy, sexy smell hits. Does anyone know what I mean? Would love a perfume that smells like that for nights out during winter. Any recommendations? I only have fresh, clean ‘green’ perfumes but getting bored of them.

I’ve just wandered through an amazing perfume section of a large department store(not London) and saw L’Interdit. It’s a classic rich scent.

I prefer pure florals (Malone Red Roses is my everyday scent) but L’Interdit was the first grown up scent I ever bought! If that doesn’t suit you, other Givenchy perfumes might work.

I have L’Interdit Millesime. There’s not much difference between this edition and the original, but enough to make it unique and memorable imo. I’m on my second bottle .

My favourite perfume for this time of year is Hugo boss deep red it's not an expensive one but I love it it smells like autumn to me!

Another vote for Penhaligon’s Halfeti here. Absolutely gorgeous scent.

Penhaligon's Halfeti is indeed a masterpiece- but after being trapped on an aeroplane for three hours with two flight attendants who seemed to have bathed in it, I will be glad not to smell it again for a while!

Such a nice description OP! I know exactly what you mean. Try Comme des Garçons perfumes, they have loads of spicy/woody fragrances that match that kind of vibe. I like White (it’s a sort of cinnamon/clove spicy smell, very warm and unusual) and maybe also try Avignon.

I'm not so keen on Halfeti but love Legend of Petra by Penhaligons.

You can order 3 x samples from them if you pay the £5 postage. I use it so rarely I buy 3 of the same and it lasts me each winter.

I love the smell Massimo Dutti shops have.

I don't like it hugely either @Clicheinaqashqai but it is oud-y and different.

I love their Highgrove bouquet, and also Quercus, but that only comes as a cologne and doesn't last well.

Gran Hotel Miramar, Malaga, I still dream of their scent. Asked at reception what it was, alas in vain, they don't tell and don't sell it. If anyone ever discovers the secret, please tell me!! I could just sit in the gorgeous lobby breathing in deeply all day 😁

Scent memories like this are totally underrated in terms of what they evoke.

My best friend wears Hermes scent and it knocks your socks off.

For sheer heaven though it's got to be Seville where the oranges get trampled and the entire city smells of either orange blossom or orange oil.

I have this exact perfume! We got married abroad last year and my husband bought me it ahead of our wedding day. It's from Mango but UK mango seems not to have it and I could literally sob at the thought of never getting another bottle.

Perhaps this is my sign to book a flight...
