I want to smell like A luxurious hotel lobby

You walk into a sophisticated hotel, jazzy music playing, no harsh or bright lights but dim, soft lighting and that spicy, sexy smell hits. Does anyone know what I mean? Would love a perfume that smells like that for nights out during winter. Any recommendations? I only have fresh, clean ‘green’ perfumes but getting bored of them.

I have Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud, not overly feminine, smells expensive, a little bit goes a long way.

The W chain of hotels in America have a scent in the lobby and corridors, it's beautiful, like the freshest cucumber, sugar cane and an unidentifiable (to me) background scent that is slightly amber, slightly yuzu. Gorgeous scent. I don't know if they've bottled it.

I think YSL libre intense fits the bill! Heavy , warm , sexy smell.

I have a fab list thank you. A lot of the brands mentioned are £££ & in Selfridges, JL, Harvey Nicks. It’s too nice a day to go trekking to department stores so will go tomorrow when it’s cooler.

What about the old classics like maybe Arpege, or Chanel No 5 or maybe the Armani Elle?

I wear Aqua di Parma but I think that's a very summery smell so I don't tend to wear it during the winter

I think Tom Ford Santal Blush fits this bill or Black Orchid.

I have quite a few from his range & love them

I also love Diptyque L'eau Capital - the scent of Paris. Its a dark rose based perfume & gets lots of compliments

God no not Chanel no 5! I used to sneakily spray myself with my mum’s ‘special’ bottle before going to school. She only used it a few times a year for special occasions! She used to leave for work before I got up but one day she had to come back home for something she forgot and could smell it. She went ballistic when I got home. I still get flashbacks when I catch a whiff of it 😂

Liz Earle, the white bottle. It smells sophisticated and luxurious, it lasts for ages and it’s a decent price.

Not a perfume sadly, but this clothes spray from M&S smells amazing, I spray it on my curtains and sofas and it makes the house smell like a high end hotel! I can't normally cope with sandalwood, baracrat rouge has ruined it for me , but I think the vanilla totally changed it. They also do the fabric conditioner, I washed all my holiday clothes with it before packing and when I opened my case and hung my clothes up on holiday it made the bedroom smell amazing.

The first thing I thought of was Jo Malone’s English Oak and Redcurrant (they are absolute bastards for discontinuing it). Have a sniff of YSL Opium and YSL Elle and see what you think.

For me this is Dior Santal Noir which was my perfume for my December wedding. I got married in a cathedral and chose the perfume because it reminded me of the incense but with SO much luxury. It just smells ridiculously expensive and lasts like you wouldn’t believe. I can wash my hair and I will still be able to smell it afterwards. Think I could go on for days raving about it.

My favourite! It's got a woody/Smokey smell, my husband told me the other day that I smell like a 5* hotel.

I kept seeing ads for perfume having similar smells to all the popular brands. I ordered three, they all smelled the same and all were revolting. I couldn't even wash the smell out. I tried one and i couldn't bear to try the others.

They just smelled really cheap and in no way did they smell like the original as they said they did.

To be fair to the company they told me to send them back which i really didn't expect.

My friend smelt like this yesterday and she said she was wearing the Aldi Oud perfume. I'm trying to hunt it down as it was insanely beautiful

The first thing that sprang to mind was
Precious Oud by Van Cleef and Arpels. It's not very oudy at all, but it's a gorgeous strong, spicy, warm smell that is very luxurious

Secondly I thought of Halfeti by Penhaligons. It's a bit ubiquitous now as everyone seems to be wearing it. But it's still a lovely scent.
