Autumn cord? Where are the good bits?

I fancy some soft, rich-coloured cord for autumn - where would be good to look?
I love this which someone posted on another dress but the shape would.be awful on me.
And I tried on a navy dress in fatface which was also perfect colour but had ruffles round the neck 🤨

@rhiannon1967 I tried those cords on in store on Tuesday and really liked them. They are super soft and not at all stiff like cords can sometimes be. I didn't buy them but the fact that I'm still thinking about them...

My main problem with wide leg high-waisted trousers is, at 5'6" with a mum tum and 34G norks, if I tuck shirts in I feel like I look massively top heavy and it emphasises my lower belly but if I don't tuck then hiding my waist and the wide legs make me look wide all the way down. Still struggling with that a bit. If they'd been straight leg I would have bought them there and then.

Primark had lovely cord mini skirts a few years back , my teens had them in a rust colour and green I think. Try Vinted?

Can you please tell me how wide these M and S cords are at the bottom. I bought the Sienna ones and they are far too narrow and these were not in the shop but there is no indication online how wide is wide. I have 15% off trousers this week so don't want to order the wrong ones. Thanks

Does anyone find cord skirts or dresses ride up when worn with tights? All skirts and dresses seem to be unlined these days. Do we have to look for the old-fashioned half slips?

No need to have to look for them, M and S have half slips in different lengths and cullotte type slips which are great under long dresses.

Has anyone seen a cord midi skirt with a front split? Like a denim midi, but cord.

Charity shops are worth a look.

Last winter I got some lovely cord pinafore dresses off Vinted. I think they might have been Sainsbury’s Tu brand but they have lasted really well.
