Autumn cord? Where are the good bits?

I fancy some soft, rich-coloured cord for autumn - where would be good to look?
I love this which someone posted on another dress but the shape would.be awful on me.
And I tried on a navy dress in fatface which was also perfect colour but had ruffles round the neck 🤨

I bought the bitter chocolate M&S cords posted above, they are very nice, I am 5'10 and bought the long, they seem fairly true to size, I also ordered the PerUna ones but they seemed very slightly bigger and longer so had to go back, the green ones in those were also nice. Quick update on the M and S wide legged cords. Took the black ones back and put them on the counter and before I could say anything the lady said - they are too small for your usual size ? Yes they are - she then said they had had a few black and navy pairs back for that reason and said they have found that these 2 colours are smaller and have been told it is to do with the dye. Bought the 14 black and they are a good fit, same as the 12 brown and the measurements are the same. Another reason I don't like to buy online - I had a 15% discount and would have missed the cut off date if I had had them delivered and had to re-order.

I'm following the M&S crowd but can't decide whether to get bitter chocolate wide leg or the sienna straight.

What colour and style or boots would you wear with each?

I have some brown chunkyish Chelsea boots I shall probably wear with the brown wide leg cords and I'm thinking when it is really cold I will be able to fit my brown UGG boots under them. I may also wear them with trainers. I think I will have more choice with boots as they will all easily fit underneath rather than getting hooked up in ankle bit of the boot

I’m tempted by the M&S wide legged cords in chocolate when my size is back in stock, but can anyone tell me how soft they are? I really struggle to be comfortable in denim because it feels too hard / harsh and I’m wondering if I’ll have the same issue?

I bought the Sienna but didn't like fit and returned them to buy the cords. They are nice and soft, much better than Jean's, so bought another pair in black.

@Almahart The Monsoon skirt arrived yesterday and is gorgeous. Will definitely try and get the purple one.

I tried the Albaray black linen waistcoat and trousers (from M&S) back in the summer. But the fit didn't work for me at all. A really strange shape. Whereas I have linen waistcoats from Mango that are a lovely fit.

I'd be tempted to order it, if I could get it from M&S, but don't really want to pay delivery if it isn't going to fit properly.

Hi. I've got been inspired to buy some autumnal cords and thought I'd share.

I'm 5 foot 4 with a long body and short legs.
I got the M&S cords in bitter chocolate Size 8 Short. They have a bit of a sheen and from a distance they look a bit like velvet. They are soft. For £40 I'm keeping them.

I also got the rust cords from Fatface. They are cropped so I ordered the long length and from the reviews I sized down to a 6. Very pleased.

Topshop + Vinted, 100%! I love my berry cord TopShop Mini dress so much that when I realised mine no longer fits this year I hopped straight on Vinted and got it in a smaller size for £3 😁 Wouldn't be without it!

@Tiddlywinkly , I have the M&S ones, I also liked those Fatface ones but as they are a bit cropped and I am 5'10 they would probably look ridiculous on me, they look really nice on you as they are the right length

The monsoon midi looks beautiful quality - i really like the pocket detail. Is the length okay? I'm more a maxi to the ground fan, and never to sure about what to wear on my feet with midis!

Has anyone seen any nice maxi skirts like the lovely monsoon linked above?

Apologies for reviving an old thread! I bought the M&S wide leg cords in the chocolate, and they’re brilliant.. I’ve been living in them :) I’m 5’3” and usually wear a size 10 on the bottom and a 10 short fits me perfectly. Going on reviews, I’d possibly size up to a 12 in the black, as apparently they come up smaller. Length is good as well, although if I was much shorter I’d worry they’d drag on the ground (I wear them with trainers, not boots or heels though).

I’m really into wide leg cords this year too. I’ve got 2 pairs from Seasalt which I plan to wear with five knot sweaters and chunky boots. They are really flattering.

I’m not sure what I think about cord dresses. How do you make them warm and cosy to wear?

I like them, but beware that they have a fair bit of stretch. I ended up sizing up because even though my normal size felt just fine, the stretch meant it looked like more lumps and bumps were showing (in my view).

Any nice jackets in store anywhere?

Has anybody seen some very cropped cord trousers? I want them quite short but I myself am quite short so normally if I buy short length they fit me 🤦‍♀️ Or culottes would be good. Proper 70s vibe

The Seasalt petite wide cords might work. I ordered regular and petite and they were quite a bit shorter but same dimensions otherwise.

@CharlotteRumpling tkmaxx have beautiful orange jumpers from French connection. Kind of a thick woven cotton… about £20, I bought one a few weeks ago, it’s lovely. Might be gone now though.

I tried these Uniqlo wide leg cord trousers on last week, and had to force myself to put them back on the shelf. Gorgeous, and fitted beautifully! They are from the Claire Waight Keller collab. I see someone else linked them earlier.

I bought an excellent blue cord mini in a charity shop recently - that will have to do.
