Coat for wedding: is this good or terrible?

I have a navy dress for a friend’s wedding at the end of September in the UK. Yeah, it might rain. But I only have a full-on winter coat or a boring raincoat which is the wrong length anyway.

So I have been down a duster coat rabbit hole and cannot decide.

I love this burnt orange coat. Not available in my size, but if I can find something like it, is it an ok combination?

Go to Primark and buy a rain coat that fits or a coat . They have lovely outerwear if you aren't going to use it much . That isn't a duster coat , it's an overcoat and doesn't go with the dress at all .

Do you shop on Vinted? Zara offer some good options, and costs on there can go for about £10-20.

I don't mind the look of the first coat, but from the bits I've tried from nasty gal, I wouldn't pay over £100 for their quality.

@DusterCoatRabbitHole , FatFace was started in a ski-resort and IIRC the 'face' was one of the runs.
NastyGal is such a horrible name, but lots of names are offputting. Boohoo? Forever21 (yeah right), etc

How about an embroidered quilted little jacket, sure something in navy with gold in it would look so nice with the dress

I really liked the combination of the two. The coat made the dress edgier.

I’d just wear a pashmina / shawl over the dress and accessorise to match with bag etc

This thread has really cheered me up at crack of dawn ( 75 with health problems keeping me awake).
Love the rusts and velvety reds. Love the embroidery. Love the dress. I think a coat will be a faff...and maybe too hot. Who knows.
My pennyworth would be a cropped fitted jacket in a teal or rust or yellow. All with a pattern and the most stunning brolly in one of the shades. And a small beautiful bag. Have a great time.

Your idea of navy and orange is a classic. I've just done a quick search on Vinted and there are a few which would be great with your elegant dress and cope with the rain. Surprisngly a trench with a cocktail dress can be a really stylish combination.

OP your first coat was by far the best suggestion by far. I think it would look great.
So many awful (imo) things recommended here.

The orange velvet long coat on about page 3 is the only other I would consider

OP what about this from Hush? Not sure if it's too lightweight for what you're looking for, but definitely lots of wear-again potential.
