What bottoms/trousers are you going for this coming season?

I am at a loss, have some cords from Toast that make me look like a tied up sack because the waist is so high. I have some simple straight jeans, and some wide leg cords that are nice but I dread them getting wet (flapping in the rain!).

Just don't know what I want to wear really, have been enjoying shorts and wafty linen pants this summer but looks like history now!

I am even pondering skirts with tights at this point. Just so sick of super high waist trews that look odd on me because my torso is small, and everything seems so sack like and bulky in the stores. I used to wear leggings with long jumpers but it feels tired. And jeans just bore me after one or two wears, blah!

What are you opting for this coming season - are you going to wear wide legs and loose fit jeans/pants? Anyone still wearing leggings?
I have not been taking much notice of clothes for a while so am curious what everyone's up to now.

I have been wearing leggings and skirts for the longest time now and I´m getting really sick of it. I want to go back to wearing jeans, but I hate high rise and so far have been too lazy to find something else.

Honestly I wanna go back to wearing tight lowrise jeans, but I need themto fit very well and be somewhat elastic. Otherwise me bending down constantly will be a problem and I will be wearing leggings afterall.

Fuckitydoodah · 24/08/2023 21:55

God knows. I'm hoping someone will be along with some inspiration.

I've previously done skinny jeans and ankle boots, but I do feel like that's a tired look now and I'm bored of it myself. But I'm struggling to know what to wear instead.

I bought some boyfriend jeans that I like to wear with trainers or birks, but what do you wear with them when it's really cold. Boots don't look right.

I feel like I've lost my way with clothes.

mdinbc · 24/08/2023 22:01

Find a silhouette that suits you and stick to it. I fare well in straight legs, medium rise, no matter the material. I find a lot of jeans brands have all different fits now, live Levis or Mavi. I love a cargo trouser, as long as the legs aren't too wide, and the side pockets are flat.

I live a very casual life, no office wear for me.

I hate high waisted jeans but just found some gorgeous straight leg low waist jeans that have got a bit of stretch from EMP. Amazing quality and they were £18.99!!! I always go for boyfriend jeans or straight leg as can't stand high waist or skinny jeans

Do you have a link by any chance?

Devilsmommy · 25/08/2023 09:13

I don't know how to do it but just Google EMP clothing, it's a rocker wear online store but the jeans are fab. They've got an app on play store too.

Devilsmommy · 25/08/2023 09:16

Urban classics, ladies low waist straight leg jeans. That's the description so type it in the search bar of emp and you'll see them, though they're £20.99 now, must have been on sale when I got them. Hope you like them 😊

HorsePlatitudes · 25/08/2023 09:18

Cargo pants
parachute pants
flappy mad jeans
flares

Vivfor60 · 25/08/2023 09:20

In winter when it is cold I wear long jumpers and black jeggings (dye them now and again to keep them black) tucked into knee length biker style boots and a big wool coat or long puffer coat. It is probably very dated, but as my name suggests I am getting on a bit and so I don't care too much! I love stomping around in my big boots. For when not so cold and not raining I bought a couple of pairs of (mid rise) black boot cut jeans to wear with shirts, jumpers and trainers.

YukoandHiro · 25/08/2023 09:36

I can't get back into flares. Whenever I see someone wearing them over the age of 25 they look so dated to me - like they never cleared out their 2001 wardrobe

Pigtailsandall · 25/08/2023 09:36

I don't like the dress/tunic with leggings look, to me it's a bit of a dowdy look on adults probably because that's the combo I dress my small child in. I got some black, straight-leg corduroy trousers last autumn and loved wearing them. Uniqlo are doing a few corduroy trousers, some straight, some tapered. There's a nice chocolate brown colour I'm thinking would be ideal for autumn. But I know I'll probably be in a variety of jeans for majority of the season. I do have a decent amount of denim in different washes and fits, so I rarely get tired of them.

IndiKid2015 · 25/08/2023 09:40

I just suit black skinnies with DMs so I think I’ll just stick with that.

Translates as: women over a certain age - remember to never wear an item of clothing you like or that suits you or that you feel good in just in case some randomer judges you. Oh the horror!

I have have that thought. But I do like them.

Okaydonkey · 25/08/2023 10:09

I’ve been wearing flares for the past two years, I am very much over the age of 25 and couldn’t care less what any one thinks.
However, I do wear them differently than I did before- and I have worn them twice before. The first time as a child in the seventies!

They are flares though, not bootlegs!

HorsePlatitudes · 25/08/2023 10:25

I think if you have long legs you can easily wear flares, and I’ve spent most my adult life wearing them. My age doesn’t matter, they suit me .

Don't like skinnys but love wearing cargoes with my DMs ☺️

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/08/2023 14:14

I've bought some cargo trousers, but I'm struggling to make them work.

Will probably stick mostly to rolled up jeans with boots. I wouldn't go out of the house in leggings, unless for exercise.

I've got plenty of skirts and dresses, too.

Wiennetta · 25/08/2023 14:22

Rolled up jeans with DMs. Wide leg jeans and trousers with flat form Converse. Slightly cropped straight leg trousers with Grenson Milly chunky chelsea boots. Midi dresses with Grenson Nanettes.

sunshinesupermum · 25/08/2023 14:42

YukoandHiro whenever I see flares I think not those 1970s horrors again!

sunshinesupermum · 25/08/2023 14:43

Flares suited me when I was young, tall and slim but I've never felt the love. Straight leg are the best, whatever your age.

babbscrabbs · 25/08/2023 14:47

I'd probably go for a slightly wide leg slightly cropped or peg leg. Not particularly fashionable but I like them and I think they suit me.

Okaydonkey · 25/08/2023 15:23

Actually, skirts dresses and trousers, long wide leg, pleated fronts will be my go to this winter. Not wearing jeans feels a bit more modern at the moment.

LanternFields · 26/08/2023 12:39

I always struggle with colours in winter, even though it's my favourite season.
I suit pale tones, much more suited to summer months, so dark, heavy fabrics sometimes wash me out. I also prefer scoop necks and have been searching for a wide necked cashmere jumper for far too long with no joy..

Apart from wide legs, I can only see me wearing straight jeans. I do get so bored with them though! I just can't think of a decent alternative that will be suitable in all weathers.

I’m enjoying Levi’s 90s 501 and “baggy dad” jeans at the mo. I have dozens of pairs of trainers, and also DM Church monkey boots which look good with them. I recently got some black Lucy and Yak Alexa trousers which I like with trainers (although they do go quite saggy in the bum after sitting in them) but haven’t tried with boots.

If it’s pissing down I often wear a shorter skirt and opaque tights - I have a 30 minute walk to work, and wet tights are much faster to dry.
