What bottoms/trousers are you going for this coming season?

I am at a loss, have some cords from Toast that make me look like a tied up sack because the waist is so high. I have some simple straight jeans, and some wide leg cords that are nice but I dread them getting wet (flapping in the rain!).

Just don't know what I want to wear really, have been enjoying shorts and wafty linen pants this summer but looks like history now!

I am even pondering skirts with tights at this point. Just so sick of super high waist trews that look odd on me because my torso is small, and everything seems so sack like and bulky in the stores. I used to wear leggings with long jumpers but it feels tired. And jeans just bore me after one or two wears, blah!

What are you opting for this coming season - are you going to wear wide legs and loose fit jeans/pants? Anyone still wearing leggings?
I have not been taking much notice of clothes for a while so am curious what everyone's up to now.

I love cords, but have a problem finding suitable ones in bootleg mid-rise style. Any that fit me are too long - apparently only tall people wear bigger sizes. The pair I do have I got from an ebay seller in the US, and I also get jeans from there.

I can't get back into flares. Whenever I see someone wearing them over the age of 25 they look so dated to me - like they never cleared out their 2001 wardrobe

I love flares - and I'm well over 25, and couldn't care less what you think. If I see someone in flares, at any age, I imagine they have been shopping recently as flares are being sold at the moment, so your comment about 2001 is ridiculous. I consider people who judge others on their fashion choices dated - like they never moved on from the 1950s mentality.

Omg I just bought some!!

Me too!

If only M&S would give me commission…!

I like those but then I would have to think about what footwear/boots goes with them! It was all so easy with skinnies

I just wear everything with chunky(ish) trainers or Chelsea boots!

Depending on the weather, my mood and what top or shoes I want to wear, I'll be switching between wide leg (pleated or flat fronted), straight leg, barrel leg and flares. I thought that by now there would be one settled style to replace skinnies but I was wrong and I couldn't be happier. I bloody love the amount of choice and I'm making the most of it.

I think that if flares remind anyone of 2001 rather than 1971 then maybe you're just not ready for them. Leave them to the grown ups.

I like a higher waist so I can't help there I'm afraid. In fact the only trend I really dread is the return of the ultra low waist and women I don't even know flashing their thongs at me.

Also, and after quite a long break, I'm getting interested in skirts again.

As an always cold person how do you find ones warm enough? Years ago I got some fleece lined leggings from H&M (I think) but haven't seen them in stores in eons.

The jeggings I have are black denim-y type material and a bit thicker than leggings. Because I wear them with long jumper and long boots I am warm enough.

Honestly think it's quite sad viewing anyone over 25 who wears anything fashionable like this...maybe some internalised stuff going on there....

bought the M&S cords today, they are lovely ❤️

redfacebigdisgrace · 29/08/2023 18:26

I quite like cropped flares with ankle boots. I wear a lot of long dresses with ankle boots and layers.

User15387500 · 29/08/2023 19:00

My M&S cords arrived today, they fit perfectly, just the right length for my flat boots, they are very nice but definitely a bit Autumn/Winter to wear just yet😀

redfacebigdisgrace · 29/08/2023 19:39

Who knew flares could be so contentious!

I love the 70s vibe but I do think they look better with a heel. So I wear the cropped version which suits my shape as I can’t really be bothered with heels. Also I’m in Scotland and long trousers are a nightmare in the rain!

Well said! 😂
