black dress to a summer wedding

is it OK to wear a black dress to a summer wedding. day guest so will be there all day and evening. specifically this dress?

other half will be wearing a kilt as is Scottish

I wouldn’t, and if I saw someone in this at a wedding I’d think they were attention-seeking / trying to be a rebel. But it depends on your social circle: if the marrying couple and your mates are all goths and the wedding’s in a museum then that is very different from a middle class church wedding in Surrey.

Ask the bride for her opinion, no one else’s really matters.

Both.

It is acceptable nowadays, and it's a lovely dress. The black at funerals is fast becoming outdated too; more and more often people are asked to ease colour. Wear what you're happy in.

It's a fabulous dress; but no, I wouldn't wear it for a wedding

Unless it's a black tie/cocktail type evening do in a high end bar with no older generation guests

There must be something else you can wear in any other colour? (Except white!)

My bridesmaids wore black as did my mum. They looked amazing! Definitely wear it
