Going strong for more than 8 years! Full of great reviews, reports of empties and despair over our ever growing stashes!

Sweaty hair @Experiment627 what do you mean, only wash it when the sweat has dried? I'm confused, and wondering if I should be thinking about this? Surely all runners (fast walker, not runner in my case) will have this problem?
I'll be worrying about my armpits, and using Dove special stuff next!

PomRuns · 23/09/2023 11:53

Also on a mission to use things up.

Elemis marine essence. I think it’s good but I hate the smell.
Eve Lom rescue mask. It was really thick, wasn’t keen.
Bramley sleep spay. It was ok, I prefer Neom.
and a little sample shower gel - was nice. Summer fragrance.

74/80
32 samples.

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants he was saying that sweat is a mixture of water and salt and dry shampoo will do nothing for that. Often my hair is sweaty, so I wash it. I thinkk this is one of the reasons I got into washing nbhair daily - cos since puberty I have been a sweaty Betty.

Dry shampoo is for oily hair- which I get too.

Ah, ok thanks. Makes sense now. @Experiment627

StarryNightAddict · 24/09/2023 01:47

Couple of empties.

Sol de Janeiro ‘do not disturb’ body mist was my favourite of all the body mists SDJ has made, unfortunately a limited edition so I cannot repurchase.

innisfree cica SPF liked this but won’t repurchase as not CF.

I’ve traded my makeup and skincare addiction for a perfume addiction lately so I’m going broke again. 🤣 picked up Montblanc Signature yesterday and am absolutely in love with it.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 24/09/2023 08:38

@StarryNightAddict I feel you! I am the same. The bane of my existence is TKmaxx as they have amazing offers from time to time

Experiment627 · 23/09/2023 07:43

@LivingDeadGirlUK how are you finding the foundation?

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I have never seen a Primor... but I will definitely keep my eyes peeled when I go over at Easter

I was watching the hairdresser dude on YT again - I think where I may have been going wrong with dry shampoo is using it on sweaty hair... and I think sweat is what screws up my hair and makes me wash it so often. Anyhoo this morning I am going to try the bonding treatment he suggests as a weekly treatment. Wish me luck!

I'm really liking the 'dewy' finish, but it seems to really show up the texture on my skin and my skin isn't great at the moment. I don't usually wear a foundation but I wanted something light to just make me look a bit more alive and deal with a bit of redness I get on my cheeks. My skin gets quite oily so don't want anything too heavy.

I think this is why sometimes your hair can look amazing after the gym if you don't wash it, once the sweat has dried its like you have put a salt spray in. Just as a disclaimer I don't make a habit of not washing my hair after the gym, but sometimes I wait till I get home and have noticed this effect.

Experiment627 · 24/09/2023 16:36

@LivingDeadGirlUK yep I find it shows up and highlights all my pores and fine lines/deep crevices. One day, I still have hope, I will find an HG foundation 🙏🏼

Have you tried the IT CC cream?

Experiment627 · 24/09/2023 21:09

@LivingDeadGirlUK I looked at it but alas, it contains cyclopentasiloxane- which I try to avoid.

Three more empties -

66 Mitcham - use this all the time and lots in the stash
67 Alberta Balsam Tee Tree Tingle Shampoo - I really like this, smells good and would repurchase one day when I have used up more shampoo.
68 Coffee Collection Body Wash - I got this in a Secret Santa Christmas present, smells great.

Aim 96 gone this year so well on the way.

CorneliaStreet · 25/09/2023 09:06

Empties from last week:

Cerave hydrating cleanser - 50ml. Good cleanser, I just can’t get that excited about Cerave stuff.

Farmacy green clean cleansing balm - 50ml. This is my favourite of all the cleansing balms/oils I’ve tried so far. Gets make up off with no effort, washes off completely and smells like the lemonade ice lollies I used to get from the ice cream van when I was a kid 🙂

Biossance squalene and copper peptides rapid plumping serum - 12ml. This was a bit meh. Didn’t notice any plumping effect, rapid or otherwise. This little sample bottle lasted me about five weeks of using it each night - I need to remember how long serums last whenever I’m tempted to buy yet more of them!

M&S white coconut perfume - 30ml. Nice summery scent. I think M&S fragrances are pretty good quality for the price.

Cowshed uplifting shower gel - 30ml. Lovely. Would buy Cowshed stuff if it wasn’t so stupidly expensive.

Aveeno hand cream - 75ml. Nice texture and sank in really quickly, but I seemed to get through this tube really quickly so probably not moisturising enough for me.

I have two empties to report:

  • Aldi Hotel Collection No1 lime, basil & mandarin hand wash: great Jo Malone dupe and cheap as chips
  • Baylis & Harding dinosaur bath bombs: these look great but were such a disappoint. Lack of fizz and lack of scent. DS disappointed.

Some random empties here:

Johnsons strength drops kids conditioner: does the job, nothing special. I have other 3 to go through.

Huggies wipes. HG here

Mason and miller hotel minis. Avoid at all costs. Terrible things. My DD uses it to make bubbles in her bath. Not even good at that.

A few samples:

guerlain la petit robe noir Edp. Good. I like it. Has A liquorice Smell to it. Similar to Lolita Lempika. Not FBW in my opinion (full bottle worthy)

guerlain insolence edt. One of the first perfumes my DH gifted to me. That one is a sample but I love it. Lots of violet in it and the name suits the perf To a T. It is very strong and noticeable. I love it.

guerlain abelle royale advanced serum. A small sample that I don’t really like as it is sticky but I am committed to use them up. Not so bad now that it is colder and I am not so sweaty. I tend to use at bedtime.

sisley eye concealer. Too orange on application but it blends nicely. I won’t buy it though the orangeness has scared me for life.

lancome colour ideal 03 beige diaphane: quite nice, blends well. I am not really into foundation so I am using up my samples and moving on

I have an empty:

  • Lancome color fever shine lipstick in 314: I have a sneaky suspicion this is more than 10 years old! I bought in the airport, returning form a business trip... nice base colour but a bit too shinny.

@LivingDeadGirlUK I looked at it but alas, it contains cyclopentasiloxane- which I try to avoid.

I just want something that makes me look a bit more alive without it looking like I am wearing lots of makeup. Surely its not too much to ask!

I keep getting advertised the clinique serum foundation but for that price I am going to have to try it on first.

Experiment627 · 26/09/2023 19:18

I am actually trying Wild deodorant at the mo - and loving that!

But I came on to say I have only done cleanse, essence, serum, cream but am already LOVING my K-beauty!!!

Fantastic. I've only used the essence so far but am also loving it.

I presume the person referring to the plastic renders the fat from her home grown pigs to make her own soap and uses that for all personal and household cleaning.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 26/09/2023 20:50

@Nomoreheroics

I agree there is so much plastic waste in the world but you can certainly can start your own green beauty thread. Personally, it is not for me.

I try and minimise the impact by recycling what I can in my household waste and using local recycling schemes. See boots scan to recycle for more info.

Beauty brands should be more sustainable but I like to use up what I have instead of decluttering and sending them off to places where they might not be used.

smallshinybutton · 26/09/2023 21:03

The charlotte tilbury water cream is lovely

IndianSummer78 · 26/09/2023 22:06

I finished this Pantene silicone free conditioner today, and with it my conditioner stash. It was lovely and I'd definitely RP. The squeezy tube is annoying when there's not much left though, I usually buy Alberto Balsam conditioner which comes in a more user friendly bottle
