Going strong for more than 8 years! Full of great reviews, reports of empties and despair over our ever growing stashes!

@MidnightMeltdown have you preordered the 2023 Fragrance Advent? I've googled it and its showing out of stock and won't let you pre order. How can something be OOS on pre order? I thought that was the point, to gauge demand. Or have I misunderstood how this works?!

MidnightMeltdown · 08/08/2023 15:58

@CinnamonCoffee - hope that you like them! 😊

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants - yes, I got it on pre-order last week, but it sold out quite quickly. I expect that there's a limit to how much stock they can get. If they are able to get more stock, I guess that they may do another drop.

Their beauty advent is still currently available for pre-order

Experiment627 · 08/08/2023 16:14

@CorneliaStreet I saw her live in 2018! She is fab!

I got the fragrance advent as well. Apparently sold out within the hour.

Got my Haeckel subscription box today. The sample size thing is huge for a sample and one thing is definitely being regifted. I'm not giving anything away yet as I know some peoples' have been delayed.

I'm only going for a cheapie advent this year, having splurged on the fragrance one as I have 2 holidays to pay for.

Fraaahnces · 10/08/2023 12:55

I can’t believe it’s early August and the holiday gifts are already coming out to play!

BerfyTigot · 10/08/2023 21:09

Yesterday I finished up these two.
Hand cream was fine but wouldn't re buy.
Will see if I can go old school and use soap and flannel for washing face, rather than buy wipes again. They were no.7 and perfectly fine.

Another 2 empties :
Banana boat aloe vera gel- this is my go to aftersun when I've been on holiday. It cools the skin, absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft, although it can feel sticky until dried in. I won't rp as i'm currently using a 2nd bottle and won't be going on holiday anytime soon lol.
Soap & glory sugar crush body wash- I don't know if this had been sitting in my cupboard for too long but it was quite runny. It lather up nicely and smelt ok although I prefer the original s & g scent. I won't rp as I have loads of s & g products in my stash.

Full 14
Mini 5
Samples 1
Chuck 1

I may or may not have signed up for the lib beauty drop🙈🙈 and recieved my first box yesterday. I'm justifying it by telling myself that I very rarely spend money on myself. I was going to save my credit and treat myself to Gypsy water perfume as I've always wanted to try it but the reviews aren't great, was also thinking of putting it towards an AC next year. Question for the ladies who are subscribed to lib- is there a time limit to spend your credit or can you just keep saving it?

EmmaEmerald · 11/08/2023 00:21

I think I might be turning into one of these addicts!
I blame QVC, I do send stuff back if it doesn't seem worth it. Currently unsure on a Neom body oil which they said sinks in quickly, but no, it takes ages.

Just ordered this but I have never tried Estee Lauder as it's way too pricey. This seems good value? Thinking I'll stick with it as a regime and see if it's good. Don't currently use any eye stuff.

I feel as if my skin needs strengthening. Not sure how to explain it. Normally use cheap stuff but lately have bought SBC, which I find very good. Totally seeing how people become beauty addicts. Still looking for a really good relaxing shower gel though.

loz12345 · 11/08/2023 12:38

@Minnie123456 it doesn’t mention how long credit is valid for if you continue your subscription- it only mentions if you cancel the credit is valid for 12 months after the cancellation date - if you want to check though liberty customer service is really good I usually message them via WhatsApp and they answer fairly quickly

BerfyTigot · 11/08/2023 17:12

@EmmaEmerald
I love fengal shower/ bath products, once you've found a scent you like it's very relaxing. Reminds me of my childhood 😁
Also it's cheap!!

BerfyTigot · 11/08/2023 17:13

@EmmaEmerald Sorry, should say Fenjal!

CorneliaStreet · 11/08/2023 17:31

@EmmaEmerald I know it’s probably not in the spirit of this thread to recommend yet more things to buy, but Korres do really nice shower gels. They are sometimes in TK Maxx or you can get bundles from QVC. I also like Bath & Body Works and I’m currently using a nice Sukin body wash, but my absolute favourite shower gel is Le Petit Marseillais. They’re not that cheap on Amazon but I think there are a couple of websites that sell French soaps etc that sell them.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 11/08/2023 18:11

@EmmaEmerald I ended up with a few Estee Lauder products due to a GWP last year, and also I bought a make up bag full at a Gretna Outlet shop. I like them, I haven't used them long enough to see how much difference it makes to my skin though. Seems like a reasonable deal.

Minnie123456 · 12/08/2023 09:24

Thanks @loz12345 i'll try that.

PomRuns · 12/08/2023 12:00

Few empties

Aveda strengthening leave in hair treatment. This is my last one and I’m keen to try something else now.
paulas choice omega complex moisturiser. I liked it. Wouldn’t be unhappy to find it in a kit or AC.
Verden body balm. Didn’t sink in.
Cult 51 day cream, love this. Am prepared to pay full price. Highest possible praise from me!!
Otto eye cream. I liked it.

2 samples- I liked both and keen to try bigger sizes
Malin + Goetz peppermint shampoo
Barbara Sturm Serum.

61/80

22 samples.

Peridot1 · 12/08/2023 15:40

I’m not doing too well on either finishing counting my stash or using stuff up or not buying new stuff!

@Fraaahnces - my new sunscreens and toners/essences have arrived. I managed to order the Premuim Hada Lobo one - the blue one. I assume I just use it as a general toner morning and evening? If I was to do the Seven Skins I think I would do one layer of the blue and then follow with the normal one?

MidnightMeltdown · 12/08/2023 15:49

I have empties too:
*
51) Rituals Face Cream* - ok, wouldn't bother to rp

52) Dr Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Serum - this is lovely but too £££ to rp.
*
53) Aurelia Refine and Polish Miracle Balm - ok, no miracles observed

  1. Dr Dennis Gross Face Peels - mentioned before, love these.

  2. SVR intense moisturising cream - this surprised me, I actually really liked the consistency. It's a French pharmacy brand so fairly affordable too. The only thing I didn't like was the smell - it's heavily perfumed. Would be interested in trying more from this brand though.

  3. Skin 111 Vitamin C Brightening Booster* - meh, nothing special. To me, this is one of those brands that pushes up the 'value' of beauty boxes but doesn't deliver a lot

Total for the year 56/130

Aggh, sorry, horrible formatting. Not sure what happened there

loz12345 · 12/08/2023 19:35

3 more empties although only small ones - being accountable has helped me realise that I need to clear out other things I also have loads of book, stationary and kids toys that just need to go
22- Q+A Liquorice lip oil from an H&B advent - was ok but nothing special-would possibly repurchase if I didn’t have other lip products to get through

23- Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing balm - love this will repurchase once I have got through the other cleansers that were in the Sephora advent last year

24, Calm body wash from M&S advent - was absolutely fine really nice fragrance and if I was in store would rp but not good enough to go out of the way to get

One empty. Wow Intensive Dead Sea charcoal and tea tree facial peeling gel. No idea why it's called that. It's a bog standard body scrub. Used it on my face too. Twice weekly. It does the job, my manky bumpy body areas are looking clearer and smoother. I've always used face scrubs so no change there, it gets makeup off fine. I have loads of other scrubs in my stash so won't RP at this point

EmmaEmerald · 12/08/2023 21:13

Thanks for replies

I might try Fenjal.

I've given up on a massive bottle of shower gel I got in TK Maxx, I think it smells like washing up liquid. I might have to use as hand soap. It's basil, mint and something but just isn't great. There wasn't a tester - testers have vanished it seems.

I look forward to trying to the Estee Lauder, I do think I should stick with it so I know if it needs to be sent back or not.

I tried a Hair Doctor treatment and it was rubbish, but missed the return window for various reasons.

Fraaahnces · 13/08/2023 04:09

@Peridot1 Sorry I haven’t checked for a few days. If you are still doing the 7 skins, you may find the HL a bit thick. Do the thinnest product first, followed by the thicker one. So maybe 4 old, 3 HL. Honestly won’t hurt, but seems like a lot to me. I imagine you have to wait quite some time before you can get your sunscreen on. Have you tried them yet?

Peridot1 · 13/08/2023 08:19

@Fraaahnces - thanks for reply. I don’t do the full seven skins every day. Maybe once every couple of weeks in winter. I usually would do two or three layers of an essence if my skin is feeling dehydrated. I haven’t tried any of the new sunscreens yet as have one - Supergoop - on the go. And a large Mecca To Save Face in my stash too! Looking forward to trying them though.

Fraaahnces · 13/08/2023 08:43

@Peridot1
I have a smorgasbord of sunscreens that I choose from depending on my skin’s needs and the weather at the time. I know that I will use them up before they expire, so it’s not utter madness. My DH doesn’t understand that sunscreen is skincare and uses whatever old crap comes in a litre pump pack provided by his sporting team, and thinks he’s doing enough. In the summer, sometimes sunscreen IS my moisturiser now.

CorneliaStreet · 13/08/2023 09:10

Empties from this week:

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture - 50ml full size. this is a seriously good moisturiser. It’s very hydrating, but sinks into the skin straightaway and leaves it feeling really soft and looking a bit glowy, without being shiny. I got this in a Cohorted monthly box. I’ve just looked up the RRP and it’s £75, so won’t be repurchasing any time soon! Moving onto a Kate Somerville one next (also from a Cohorted box).

Laniege Water Sleeping Mask - a little 15ml sample. I liked this. It’s lightweight and my skin felt so soft the morning after.

Elemis Superfood Glow Priming Moisturiser - 20ml sample. This looked very glowy on, too much for me on the face so I used it up on my neck and chest.

Virtue Recovery Conditioner - 60ml sample. This had a lovely coconut scent and it worked well as a conditioner.

M&S Fragrance Society hand cream - 30ml. This came is a set of five minis. I didn’t really like the scent of this one, but the consistency is nice. I’ve also almost finished the last one in the set and that one smells much nicer.
