Going strong for more than 8 years! Full of great reviews, reports of empties and despair over our ever growing stashes!

a couple more today both Clarins. both of these will be a RP at some point especially the day cream which smells lovely and feels silky on my skin. I've got a little bit left in another sample tube which will probably finish tomorrow morning.

The hydra-essential has been a regular go to as it does what it says on the jar and is a good basic expensive thing to have about.

They will both have to wait though as I'm determined to wade my way through some other stuff.

No empties but two cleaners and a body butter put out for tin on the wall, along with a toilet bag full of hotel bottles/tubes which will go to a homeless shelter.

Peridot1 · 05/08/2023 13:18

An empty deodorant for me. Had its replacement ready to go. Not sure it counts as stash though!

Fraaahnces · 05/08/2023 14:22

Empties:-Small tube of la roche posay lipikar baume. I use this as body lotion. I won’t repurchase because I have an industrial-sized one in the shower. (Unless I travel which is unlikely atm.)
Couple of roll on deodorants. Nothing new or exciting.
Small Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Peach Tea. This was my very favourite one. Was in a holiday pack last year (or even the year before!) I will probably buy the holiday pack this year. (I have a bajillion lip balms, but I will not be without this one.)
*Actually have far too many lip balms and glosses. That’s another two categories to cull.

loz12345 · 05/08/2023 17:57

I have a couple of empties

20, 111 skin rose gold eye masks - I usually like under eye masks got these in the beauty drop but they seemed quite dry and didn’t do anything so wouldn’t rp

21, AA Rose shower oil from Sephora advent - loved the fragrance as not overpowering but not convinced about a shower oil so put it in the bath and that worked really well would rp if I didn’t have others to use

What is your tin on the wall? Yes, I'm nosey. I save all my hotel tubes to go to the local refuge at Crimbo.

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel I had that Childs Farm cream: yuk! So not easy to apply and basically you need something easy to apply for the little ones!

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants I will take a look

I have one empty:

  • Nivea in shower moisturiser: I adore everything about this. Complete HG for me. It is getting harder to find... bloody hope they do not discontinue. I especially like for days I am in a rush. Works fab on my son's occasional eczema too.

I may have had a Superdrug splurge it seemed bad joo-joo to miss out on the extra points they give during birthday month.

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 05/08/2023 20:24

@Experiment627Good for you re Superdrug! It’s not always a birthday month so well justified in my opinion.

That cream is terrible. On the other hand, the spray they have from Childs Farm is not as bad as the cream in the tube. But won’t buy neither.

IndianSummer78 · 05/08/2023 21:13

@loz12345 I've got shower oil from another brand and the bottle says you put it on before showering, then wash as usual. So I'm guessing it's instead of using moisturizer afterwards. Nice to know it works in the bath too though

Sucommed to the fancy packaging of a very expensive goats milk locally produced moisturizer. Checked the ingredients when I got home and it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. Anyone ever heard of that in a moisturizer? It's not in any of my others. I thought it was a cleaning agent in shampoo, shower gel and hand soap 🥴

Experiment627 · 05/08/2023 21:46

@Thereislightattheendofthetunnel ☺️

@IndianSummer78 that does seem somewhat strange 😵‍💫

I bought 2 bottles of it from Costco but I don’t know if you bought yours there. I wouldn’t consider them fancy in any case. Do you know the brand? I haven’t tried mine yet but it smells nice

Cyclingmummy1 · 05/08/2023 22:32

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants it's a community initiative for a local food bank. On the first Saturday of the month you leave a 'tin on your wall' or a bottle or packet in the pavement outside your house and volunteers collect them. This month, they asked for hotel/holiday toiletries as well for a homeless shelter.

FiveShelties · 05/08/2023 22:51

@Cyclingmummy1 that is such a good idea.

FiveShelties · 05/08/2023 23:39

Four empties to report.
Natio eye make up remover, would definitely repurchase.
Lipcote, use this all the time.
Lipstick, from Limited Collection, loads more lipsticks left.
Flex Body Building Protein Conditioner, love the smell of this and use it often.
60 down from target of 96

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 06/08/2023 08:02

That sounds good @Cyclingmummy1

@Experiment627 sorry for the quick hijack. You have kindly supported my project in previous years, so I thought I'd risk it. Have got a few new Likes, so thanks to those folk.

Re sodium laureth sulphate in shampoo, or unlikely stuff. Surely that makes it frothy? As natural shampoos don't have it, and I know I don't need it to froth, but I think it's a psychological thing, that I'm so used to it being frothy I associate it with my hair being clean....nuts, I know.
Anyhoo, I can't see why they would put it in something that implies it's full of wholesome goodness...

Experiment627 · 06/08/2023 09:39

I love your initiative @SpongeBobJudgeyPants and am planning to support this year too 💜

@FiveShelties where are you procuring your Flex from ? I used to love their shampoo and conditioners- mainly cos of the smell.

OP posts:
MavisMcMinty · 06/08/2023 09:42

Yes, I remember Flex, it was great!

FiveShelties · 06/08/2023 10:04

@Experiment627 I am in NZ and Flex is often in a type of discount store. I used to use it in the UK and had not seen it for years and then all of a sudden it appeared here. The smell is exactly the same - takes me back! I have not seen Flex in our 'normal' stores.

Cosmetics, shampoo, conditioner etc used to be really expensive here and then we got a few discount stores and all of a sudden the other stores started reducing prices. Funny that. Sadly we do not have AC so usually stock up in UK on my visits home. Although it could be a good thing we do not have AC here!

Experiment627 · 06/08/2023 10:20

@FiveShelties I looked on Amazon and it is more than I would expect to pay but I have a feeling I have seen (& bought before) from a local discounter called Paks.

OP posts:
FiveShelties · 06/08/2023 10:25

I think I am paying around $7 each for the shampoo and conditioner and often on offer for 2 for $10. There are roughly 2 dollars to the pound so it seems pretty cheap here as the bottles are huge and last ages. I do have short hair though so probably don't use much. I did not realise it had disappeared in UK

Peridot1 · 06/08/2023 10:29

I used to use Flex years ago too. I remember the smell even now.

MavisMcMinty · 06/08/2023 10:32

It was good on my fine curly hair. Think my Mum must have bought/used it, as I remember using Linco Beer shampoo for most of my 20s, which also had a great smell.

Experiment627 · 06/08/2023 10:36

@MavisMcMinty that rings a bell to me too.
Does anyone remember the Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner in the brown bottles that smelled of almond? BRING THEM BACK!

Goats of the Gorge or something I think. Label wanging on about it being locally made and natural ingredients and good for eczema. Wasn't best pleased at £17.50 to find it has a soap ingredient in it! One that's often missing from shampoo and shower gel aimed at people with eczema too, as it can be an irritant. If it's potentially irritating in something that'll be washed off, much more potential for being irritating in a cream that's left on

IndianSummer78 · 06/08/2023 12:59

Its the foaming ingredient? That makes it even more crazy. Why do they think anyone wants frothy moisturizer?! 😵
