How much is a cut and blow dry and how often?

I got my hair cut into a bob about 6 months ago and I love it. Only thing is I'm now going every 8 weeks - sometimes I stretch it to 10. And paying £70 a time for a cut and blow dry. Is this the normal sort of price? I might have to rethink!

Depends where you are I guess. I don't pay anything like that and until COVID I used to get a trim in the market for a tenner!

YouAndMeAndThem · 24/06/2023 21:33

My hairdresser charges £35 for a cut and finish

darkmodeon · 24/06/2023 21:33

True. I think I just used to get it done for £50 once every 6 months at some point. I guess high maintenance hair will go out of fashion.

I go every 6 weeks as I've got a longish bob and it's £85 each time.

I need to find a new hairdresser then it seems!

Oh or not!

I guess it all depends on skill. I'm very happy with the cut so maybe I'll just try eeking it out a little bit longer before I go back

£65 I go 3 times a year but have a lower maintenance style than a bob.

BinauralBeats · 24/06/2023 21:37

I pay £26 for a cut and blow dry. It's an older style, no frills salon but the stylists and good at their job and I like what they give me!

HarpyValley · 24/06/2023 21:39

A cut & finish is £35, a half-head of foils (with cut & finish included) is £55 - this is at a small provincial hairdresser, albeit one who really ‘gets’ my thin fine hair and cuts it very well. I only go to the hairdresser 4-6 times a year, twice for a colour and the rest for the c&f, couldn’t afford more often than that.

FannythePinkFlamingo · 24/06/2023 21:42

Every 8 weeks. £38 for a dry cut. I'm too tight to pay for a blow dry, but I think that's £46

Bluebells1970 · 24/06/2023 21:43

I must admit that I was a bit Hmm when they put their prices up by around 20% a few weeks ago, but I genuinely like how the hairdresser cuts my hair and it's probably the best salon in the immediate area. I do feel a bit of pain at the £150 for highlights so I only have that done twice max a year.

Whereabouts in the county are you? I think that's expensive.

StillWantingADog · 24/06/2023 21:45

I pay £40. Suburbs of a big city (not London). I would expect to pay more in the city centre or south east but otherwise feels about normal.

StEtienne93 · 24/06/2023 21:48

Does sound slightly pricey. I used to pay around £45 pre covid. After covid most salons near me were charging £50-60. Luckily I've found a fab salon that only charge £32, so I've changed over to them.

DrCoconut · 24/06/2023 21:48

£29 here. Northern post heavy industry town.

Gateappreciation · 24/06/2023 21:49

£35 for cut and blow dry. Just gone up from £30.

Colour, cut and blow dry is £85-100 (it varies).

I alternate between the two, and go every eight weeks. May have to extend it with the increasing costs.

GormlessBeast · 24/06/2023 21:51

Cut and blow dry £40 every 8 weeks.

PurplePear7 · 24/06/2023 21:51

I don’t like to spend more than £60. It really depends where you are and what kind of salon you want I think.

darkmodeon · 24/06/2023 21:52

Ah I am city centre. South.

darkmodeon · 24/06/2023 21:53

I'll try eeking it out a bit longer. It would be a shame to have to go somewhere else it looks great imo. So if that doesn't work maybe I'll ask for something different that might cope ok being left longer

Around £50 for a cut and finish, northern city centre with salon owner. Shoulder length and wavy and about every 4 months works out right for me - I rarely blow dry and that's the point at which the ends start to feel dry and I get more frizz.

UsingChangeofName · 24/06/2023 21:57

I don't have mine blow dried, I just have a cut. Usually about 8 weeks, but sometimes 10.
My (mobile), self-employed hairdresser charges me £10.
Now, I know that's good, but £70 is ridiculous.

GG1986 · 24/06/2023 22:22

I pay £35 for a wash, cut and blow dry and go once every 3 or 4 months. Luckily my hair is low maintenance.

pinklama · 24/06/2023 22:26

I am £70 wash, cut & blow dry. But I can make my cut last 12 weeks.

LimeCheesecake · 24/06/2023 22:27

I paid £44 for a cut and dry this week - the hairdressers I go to charges between £32 and £65 for this, depends who you use at the salon. There are cheaper salons in our town, but a lot more expensive. I’d ask local friends, you might find most are paying about the same or someone has a great local recommendation.
