How much is a cut and blow dry and how often?

I got my hair cut into a bob about 6 months ago and I love it. Only thing is I'm now going every 8 weeks - sometimes I stretch it to 10. And paying £70 a time for a cut and blow dry. Is this the normal sort of price? I might have to rethink!

Mines £70.00 I have a Bob but I am growing it out and not had it cut since January

GetWhatYouWant · 24/06/2023 22:30

I have a bob, go every 8 weeks, 72 quid with salon owner, S Wales city suburb. Mind you, that seems a bargain to me compared to 150/160 I used to have to pay every 6 weeks to have it dyed. Grew out the grey during COVID lockdown after having hair dyed for 25 years.

smoothieooo · 24/06/2023 22:32

I had a wash, restyle and blowdry in London (small salon in the City) for £42.50. It was an excellent cut and finish so £70 seems too much (without any other treatment or service)

Nsky62 · 24/06/2023 22:32

£27 dry cut south east and that is cheap here

bonfirebash · 24/06/2023 22:40

£85 for a curly specialist
I only go once every 9-12 months though

NorthWestThree · 24/06/2023 22:42

I cut and colour my own hair now, hair dressers are too expensive! I can't even afford Supercuts lol

Ylvamoon · 24/06/2023 22:55

Oh, I think I am very lucky with my hairdresser! I pay £24.- for a wash, cut & blowdry every 6- 8 weeks for a basic bob. Pre covid was £21.-

Reading the replies, I have to say, that I love my hairdresser! She's very experienced and the owner of the salon . She also has 1 or 2 trainees, so doing her bit for the future of het trade.

BeretRaspberry · 24/06/2023 22:58

I have mine done every 6/7 weeks at £23 a time. I’m in the NE though.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 24/06/2023 22:58

Book a standby appointment at headmasters for £31

Divebar2021 · 24/06/2023 23:02

These threads are a bit misleading unless you know how good these other stylists are. Some posters will not be having anything like a bob or other technical cut. I see my stylist at his house and pay £70 but if I saw him at the salon I’d pay £100. He is quite senior in a large chain and although he’s expensive he knows how to cut short hair which sadly a lot of younger stylists don’t. ( you don’t get to hide a shoddy cut)

DrunkenKoala · 24/06/2023 23:29

£35 for a cut and blow dry every 8 weeks. My hair is just past my shoulders and layered. I’m about 45 mins out of London.

That's a point

I pay £50 but only go every four months as it's all I can afford.

olympicsrock · 25/06/2023 06:17

£51 every 8 weeks for was cut and blow dry. Cough of England, village salon , fabulous stylist who does a great job, never takes more than 45 mins.

Ragwort · 25/06/2023 06:23

I go the model day at our local very good salon .. always get a good cut and blow dry. No charge but obviously I tip ... and a decent cup of coffee or cold drink. It does get very booked up (understandably).

lalaloopyhead · 25/06/2023 06:25

£48 for me. I am in there an hour or so each time so I think that is ok.

UseOfWeapons · 25/06/2023 06:30

I have more of a pixie cut, I have it cut every 5 weeks, costs £23 for cut and blow dry.

rosielemonaddde · 25/06/2023 06:41

I pay £80 for a full head of foils, cut and blow dry.

LuckOfTheDrawer · 25/06/2023 06:58

I pay around £50, but I have short hair so I go every 5 weeks.

I know it's expensive overall, but I love my hairdresser, and I have short hair so I do need to go regularly. I don't spend a lot on some other areas of my life at all, so I think it all balances out overall.

mdh2020 · 25/06/2023 07:20

It depends where you live. In this area of London £85 for a cut and blow dry is normal. Everything here is dearer but my hairdresser is very good. I compensate by having my colour done at home by a chap who earns his living travelling from house to house.

Theraffarian · 25/06/2023 07:25

£27 dry cut , south , decent cut by senior stylist . However I use a less fashionable hairdressers which is 10 minutes outside the city centre , which also has the benefit of free parking .

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 25/06/2023 07:30

£60 every eight weeks. I stretched it from 6 weeks. South east.

£50 for a bob in north east Surrey. Apparently a bob is a deceptively hard cut to do!

Oblomov23 · 25/06/2023 08:27

I too wondered if I didn't need to go so often, surely I can get away with 8 weeks occasionally?
