How much is a cut and blow dry and how often?

I got my hair cut into a bob about 6 months ago and I love it. Only thing is I'm now going every 8 weeks - sometimes I stretch it to 10. And paying £70 a time for a cut and blow dry. Is this the normal sort of price? I might have to rethink!

£70 roots , ends off and blow dry every four weeks

Bananaspliff · 26/06/2023 22:34

My salon charges £35 for wash cut and blow dry.
I pay £60 for root colour, cut and curly blow dry every five weeks and then balayage every 4 months which is £140.
Suburb of Birmingham

That is expensive. But if you can afford it then perhaps just leave it a bit longer between each time. Or have it cut just a bit shorter. Good hairdressers are, in my opinion, hard to find. I've found someone good after trying lots and being disappointed each time. It's a long waiting list to see him, and I always forget too book ahead, so only really manage to get two haircuts a year. Suits me though as it is expensive. I think £60. If it's cheaper to go for a wet cut perhaps do that. I'm not fussed about having someone blow dry my hair, especially if I'm just going home.

Cut, colour and blow dry every 6 to 7 weeks. £130-£180 depending whether T Bar, half head or full head. SW London. It's a reasonable price for the location.

DiscoBeat · 27/06/2023 00:09

£69 here for a C&BD - obviously the colour is extra. I go every 8 weeks.

User9753224 · 27/06/2023 06:58

£69 for cut and blow dry every 6-8 weeks.

Colour/highlights £55 4 times a year

He does a superb job every time but it’s a lot of money, puts the price up in increments of 50p🤔

I've been in Hairdressing since 1984 and a salon owner the cost to run services now is not affordable for clients or business owners ,we are one of the highest taxed industries in the country paying tax and Vat which we cannot claim back as our purchases are so low so vat is charged on our labour which cannot be offset .I feel very sad that salons in small towns and villages will be a thing of the past and only available in major cities where mobile hairdressing is not an option .

I pay £50 for WC&BD for a chin length bob in North Surrey. It needs cutting about every four weeks.

Comedycook · 28/04/2024 13:10

£49 at the place I go to. I think it's a lot.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 28/04/2024 14:54

Layered Bob. £50 for cut and "finish" (blow dry 🙄). Every six weeks, takes about an hour. London/Surrey border.

SittingBackAndWatchingTheClowns · 28/04/2024 14:57

My small, local, family-owned salon charges £38 for a cut and blow-dry. I go every 3 months

suki1964 · 28/04/2024 15:20

Mines £20 for a cut and finish. Ive a short undercut bob and go about every 6 weeks or when I cant cope with it anymore :)

Nonewclothes2024 · 28/04/2024 15:51

£70 south east.

Smartiepants79 · 28/04/2024 15:55

I only go about 2/3 times a year as I have long hair and I’m lazy.
I pay around £45 which is about average for where we live.

invisibleoldwoman · 28/04/2024 15:59

I have very short hair and go every five weeks. £17.50 for a cut and blow dry + wax. Before Covid I went to a smart town shop and it was £35. East Yorkshire. The cut is just as good in my opinion. But I don't get a complimentary coffee.

Kelvinator1 · 28/04/2024 16:00

I have a cut & style every 6-7 weeks. Currently paying £70, have been charged £90 at the bigger salons (Scotland).

largeprintagathachristie · 28/04/2024 16:02

£78 - yes £78! - for a cut and blow dry. London, zone 3.

It keeps creeping up and up, and my usual stylist is now a senior stylist.

I will eke this recent haircut out as long as I can.

Need to find somewhere else but it also need to be convenient for more frequent fringe trims.

A cut & finish is £35, a half-head of foils (with cut & finish included) is £55 - this is at a small provincial hairdresser, albeit one who really ‘gets’ my thin fine hair and cuts it very well. I only go to the hairdresser 4-6 times a year, twice for a colour and the rest for the c&f, couldn’t afford more often than that.

I just wanted to say- this is pretty depressing as a hairdresser!
THIS ^ is what I was charging, working for myself as a mobile hairdresser back in 2002!
And I was considered cheap then!
No wonder people feel poor these days hardly able to pay their bills- because costs have risen MASSIVELY in 2 decades, yet what many get paid has not risen at all!
My husbands day rate for his work hasnt changed either since then, all these years later as clients keep squeezing on price further and further, and with the rise of AI nicking peoples jobs- it's getting tough for ordinary people out there!
