Body moisturiser that will make me want to use it?

BettyBoopBetty · 14/06/2023 08:52

I need to moisturise my body more, my legs are very flaky but I can NEVER be bothered! I have tried different creams before and also oils but was hoping to get recommendations. I am looking for something hydrating but lightweight, easy to apply, not like a paste and ideally with a nice smell too, although I appreciate this is subject to personal taste. Open to spend up to £15.

My go to and the one I buy over and over (despite occasionally breaking away and trying something else) is original Vaseline Intensive Care in the yellow bottle. Nothing works better than that for me.

CoachBeardsJane · 14/06/2023 13:15

Brazilian bum bum cream it smells incredible, and the little ones are within your budget I think on cult beauty

Get one in a spray bottle - life changing! Makes distribution so much easier.
I like the rituals body oils with a spray cap.

Came to say this. The spray on ones are literally the only ones I use. I have a bathroom cabinet full of lovely lotions that I just can't make myself use.

My favourite is the Vaseline intensive care with aloe Vera. I've also used aveeno but it took a bit longer to sink in for me

Aveeno is really effective if your skin is very dry, but doesn’t smell of much.

Vaseline Intensive Care (the aloe one in the green bottle) is cheap, light and easily absorbed and smells nice.

Second the Vaseline aloe one, soaks in really fast and smells nice but not too strong. Got rid of my dry skin in a few days!

The only thing I've ever stuck to regularly is a dry oil spray as it's so easy to apply and doesn't to slimy when you sweat.
Avon skin so soft is a classic.

That or some kind of shower oil.

Agree with Avon Skin So Soft. Smells nice, leaves skin very soft and is supposedly good for keeping midges and mozzies away.

My aunty swears by Skin So Soft to keep away the mozzies - she used it for years when she lived in the Caribbean.

My fave. Smells amazing!

Interesting some of the responses here, a lot of moisturizers turn my lizard legs even more lizardy, particularly dry oil sprays

Like others on here, I need something that is convenient to handle (usually with creamy hands), comes out conveniently and soaks in quickly. Cant stand things in a tub, got to undo the top, find somewhere to put the top, top falls on the floor, usually where theres a clump of cat hair or rolls under the bed, Im rushing for work in the morning so need something with a pump I think

MotherofPearl · 14/06/2023 20:44

I'm very particular about body lotion, which I use every morning after my shower or my skin is horrendously dry.

I really dislike fruity smells, coconut smells and the smell of Nivea. Body butter and soufflés aren't for me either.

My favourite by far is Avalon Organics (available from Ocado). I love the lavender one most of the time, but in winter often opt for rosemary. They do a peppermint one which is very refreshing in summer. It comes in a pump bottle which is handy, and it is very easily absorbed (not greasy and not sticky).

QueenLagertha · 14/06/2023 20:44

I love the Vaseline intensive care cocoa butter one. So easily absorbed and maintains my fake tan

bellac11 · 14/06/2023 20:48

Is there one that sort of smells like cucumber or palmolive soap or something like that, nice and fresh?

IBelieveInAThingCalledScience · 14/06/2023 20:48

Shower oil is the answer.

L' Occitane almond is lovely

yutu · 14/06/2023 20:50

This Works perfect leg body butter, when on sale you can get a big pot for £20, its the best I have used.

I got mine from M&S summer beauty bag last year and loved it. I usually dont spend much on body lotion but this one is really worth it.

BettyBoopBetty · 15/06/2023 07:55

@IBelieveInAThingCalledScience a few have suggested it… am very curious now, it’s just so pricey! Might try the small version first. I assume there isn’t need for anything else afterwards even though you are supposed to rinse it off??

I dont buy creams or lotions anymore, ive discoveted cold pressed sweet slmond oil. Versatile, can use for hair, skin, nails anything really.

It absorbs really well, not overly greasy. Its worked wonders on my neck and chest area. Its well priced too

Ladyofthelake53 · 15/06/2023 08:15

To add, no real smell but you could add essential oils easily if you wanted fragrance

Ladyofthelake53 · 15/06/2023 08:18

Looking at the Other Stories one linked by pp, love the sound of the Midnight one. Might have to order !

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 15/06/2023 08:25

Body oils are good. If anyone sees a nice body cream mousse let me know. A few years ago Johnson and Johnson did a great baby oil scented body mousse but of course they discontinued it! That absorbed brilliantly.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 15/06/2023 08:27

I know you say OP you want posh but my DM uses a cucumber and aloe (botanics/natural) lotion from Boots. It always seems to be bought but the scent is nice and she says it soaks in quickly and easily.

LadyEloise1 · 15/06/2023 08:56

@BettyBoopBetty
I use the L'Occitane Almond Shower oil.
I would definitely have to use body lotion or body cream after as I love the scent of it but don't find it that moisturising.

Marie2023 · 15/06/2023 09:00

I absolutely HATE applying body lotion until I bought Bum Bum Firming Oil. What I love about it is you can apply it in the shower immediately after turning the water off. You don’t have to get out into the cold.

And my skin feels and smells lovely 😊

Neutrogena Body Mist.
