Body moisturiser that will make me want to use it?

BettyBoopBetty · 14/06/2023 08:52

I need to moisturise my body more, my legs are very flaky but I can NEVER be bothered! I have tried different creams before and also oils but was hoping to get recommendations. I am looking for something hydrating but lightweight, easy to apply, not like a paste and ideally with a nice smell too, although I appreciate this is subject to personal taste. Open to spend up to £15.

I use Aveeno or Nivea - both great and reasonably priced.

TriggeredByGravy · 14/06/2023 08:55

I got one of those body brush thingys and use that before a shower, and then use loccitaine almond shower oil. No need for lotion now which is excellent because I'm a lazy cow 😂

YinYogi · 14/06/2023 08:57

Aveeno is really effective if your skin is very dry, but doesn’t smell of much.

Vaseline Intensive Care (the aloe one in the green bottle) is cheap, light and easily absorbed and smells nice.

Orchidflower1 · 14/06/2023 08:59

I’ve got a Nivea one with a pump top. I get it out of the bathroom cupboard and put it in the side before I get in the shower.

The combination of the east pump top and having it out on the side does help me to remember to use it.

BettyBoopBetty · 14/06/2023 08:59

@TriggeredByGravy ohh a shower oil is a good idea actually, feels easier and faster to apply

@YinYogi Thank you - I think I need something a bit "fancier" to motivate me, I am that bad :D

Cheap even!!

it doesn’t make a chick noise!!! 🤷🏽‍♀️

Susiesue61 · 14/06/2023 09:01

I love soap and glory , think it’s body butter. Comes in a pot and smells lovely 😊

EsmeShelby · 14/06/2023 09:01

Fenjal. Lovely light scent.

YouAndMeAndThem · 14/06/2023 09:02

Yeah Nivea is great, the one in the white pump bottle is so easily and quickly absorbed. Takes seconds to slather on and then you're good to go!

TokyoSushi · 14/06/2023 09:03

The Body Shop strawberry body yoghurt. Almost like a gel so takes it a second to put on and smells absolutely divine. I actually look forward to putting it on which has never happened before!

Plexie · 14/06/2023 09:03

Not fancy but Superdrug Vitamin E body cream is good. I also like their containers because they're simple and easy to recycle, so I don't get recycler's guilt as I do with pump containers.

Nivea Express hydration. It comes in a pump bottle so no faffing and it absorbs really quickly. Sanctuary shower oil instead of shower gel makes a difference too.

LadyEloise1 · 14/06/2023 09:09

Sanctuary do a wet skin moisturiser. You shower.
Don't towel dry.
Apply the lotion.
Then towel dry.
I haven't used it myself ( I keep meaning to ) but perhaps other Mumsnetters have and will give their opinion.

BettyBoopBetty · 14/06/2023 09:10

To all those who use it regularly - do you see a difference in your skin?

OP posts:
Smartnugget · 14/06/2023 09:14

I use Nivea in the white pot. It sits in my room and I use it every day and yes, it makes a difference to your skin.

I would also suggest buying the soap and glory scrub mits from Boots and use them to exfoliate a couple of times a week with your usual shower gel.

AceofPentacles · 14/06/2023 09:17

Anything whipped is usually easier I find, currently using sanctuary which is nice smelling. Also second soap and glory

almostoverthehill · 14/06/2023 09:19

Garnier (in green bottle) and about £5 for a big bottle

Body Superfood | Vegan Body Moisturisers | Garnier UK

These are are nice light texture, similar to Body Shop body yoghurts.
They're in a big fat tub so you can get every last dollop, unlike a pump bottle.
The scents are light and inoffensive, the cream good and moisturising.
I have never paid full price, Boots recently had them for £5 with their points card.

Nivea all the way.
Or soap and glory I just love the fruity scents!
Aproderm colloidal oat cream (simular to aveeno) is what I use for my children and much cheaper. They're in a routine where they use it every morning and after every bath/shower too.

PickledPuffin · 14/06/2023 09:31

I'm the same as you with flaky sore skin on my legs.

I've been using Body Shops spray oil, the olive one. It's easy to apply, just 4-5 sprays, then rub it in. You would think it would be greasy, but it isn't. The oil just sinks in and leaves your skin feeling soothed and smooth.
Smells nice, too!

TheMurderousGoose · 14/06/2023 09:32

I think a lot of people use too much lotion and then are left feeling greasy for the next hour and are put of using it regularly because of that. Using smaller amounts and rubbing it in well is key for me.

I exfoliate in the shower using a Japanese salux cloth and then use my fave lotion which is the Garnier Body Repair in the red bottle. Those two things leave me so smooth.

TSJ19 · 14/06/2023 09:35

Brazillian bum bum cream. It's quite expensive but it smells so nice and lasts all day.
It's made my skin so soft. I use it everyday after I've had a shower.

clairethewitch70 · 14/06/2023 09:35

The Body coconut milk range or the Sanctuary range are my go to. If willing to spend more L’occitane is nice.
