Body moisturiser that will make me want to use it?

BettyBoopBetty · 14/06/2023 08:52

I need to moisturise my body more, my legs are very flaky but I can NEVER be bothered! I have tried different creams before and also oils but was hoping to get recommendations. I am looking for something hydrating but lightweight, easy to apply, not like a paste and ideally with a nice smell too, although I appreciate this is subject to personal taste. Open to spend up to £15.

Does anyone use a spray moisturizer?? I HATE the feel of it on my hands

Sorry to derail, op

AndrexPuppy · 15/06/2023 13:19

It’s obv not posh though at about £5 for 400ml.

Neutrogena deep moisture spray is great

TheMurderousGoose · 15/06/2023 13:21

Personally I find spray moisturisers more faff than they're worth.

Personally I find spray moisturisers more faff than they're worth.

They are very expensive for what they are too. Most of the can is propellant and the moisturiser is watered down to allow it to spray out and mist properly, so you get less for your money. Plus the environmental impact of those sealed units.

I just use the pump one described above and wash my hands afterwards.

This body souffle by Human + Kind is my absolute fave - it smells divine & has the handy pump top. Sadly, in searching for it, I've found that the company seems to have gone into liquidation, so I'm going to need to buy up as much as possible of what I can find from third party sellers...

The Weleda Skin Food body lotion is lovely. It's quite thick but sinks in easily and has a pleasant herbal, almost medicinal scent. I've been using it for about a week and can feel the difference (I usually use body lotion anyway, this is just better!)

@TriggeredByGravy ohh a shower oil is a good idea actually, feels easier and faster to apply

@YinYogi Thank you - I think I need something a bit "fancier" to motivate me, I am that bad :D

Just be aware it can make the shower slippery

Whatevergetsyouthroughthenight · 15/06/2023 15:00

Life is too short to use body lotion IMO.

Buy a bar of Dove ‘soap’, £1.50 for 2 bars, available in a ‘sensitive skin’ version too.

No more flaky legs and I speak as someone who used to get eczema.

Like many others on here I do recommend Aveeno and Nivea, but if you want something a bit fancier, try the Body Shop body yoghurts in whatever scent you fancy. They absorb very quickly and are lovely and light. They don't last long though so are definitely a treat.

I love soap and glory , think it’s body butter. Comes in a pot and smells lovely 😊

Me too

I'm like you; can't be bothered with slathering it on.

E45 bath emollient is a life saver. Couple of caps in the bath or direct to skin (in shower) and your skin will stay lovey and soft all day.

Wouldn't be without it.

I have a big collection of creams and body butters but the only one that I've been motivated to continue is Ameliorate, which was recommended on here for dry, bumpy skin. It's in a pump, so easy to use, and smells pleasant but not overpowering. And it's made my legs so smooth (contains AHAs ).

Scottishlanza · 15/06/2023 17:57

@Baffledismydefault I recommended Ameliorate too. Most of the other recommendations are purely cosmetic whereas the ameliorate seems more medicinal. I’m not particularly keen on the scent but by god does it work, my 62 year old skin loves it

Isithalfterm · 15/06/2023 18:08

Garnier After Sun in the blue bottle. Slap it on at bedtime, much more than I would put on if I had to wait for it to dry normally. Get into bed. Sleep.

Sheets and PJ’s have been fine and I sleep so much better in the heat too. Added bonus is that it smells like holidays 🏖️

OwlsRock · 15/06/2023 19:15

Body brush (though I do it wet - should it be dry!?)
Almond oil shower stuff mentioned
Nivea extra deep thick body lotion one pump. Drys quicker than the estrogel on top of legs !

coxesorangepippin · 15/06/2023 21:16

Thanks @bonfirebash

Tisfortired · 15/06/2023 21:56

I have used SO MANY body moisturisers. From aveeno and Nivea etc up to really high end ones - I have dry skin but like you can never be bothered. I saw somebody recommend one on Instagram so bought it and omg it’s amazing. It’s the garnier ultimate blends revitalising moisturiser, it says a honey scent (🤢) but to me it smells like summer and holidays. It soaks in so quick (no sticky clothes) and feels like it gets really deep into the skin rather than just leaving a film. I think it’s only around £6 if I remember correctly? Recommend big time!

flyhome · 15/06/2023 22:25

Cerave moisturiser for dry skin, the one with blue writing on it, in a pump. Sinks in well, and doesn't leave you feeling tacky.

Ameliorate is great but it gets rid of the dry skin by using alpha hydroxy acids which in turn will leave your skin more prone to sunburn. So if you use it a lot make sure to use an spf on the hot days when your skin will be exposed.

Merrymermaid7 · 15/06/2023 22:45

Haven't read though all the posts but I love dove products, they smell lovely and are effective, love their pro age care and body glow products. I'm usually look lazy about this but enjoy using them and they work 😀

BerfyTigot · 15/06/2023 22:47

Yes I agree with getting a more expensive one that you REALLY like.

I use l'occitaine almond oil. It's very light and has changed my skin in a matter of weeks. I'm much less wrinkly now 🤣

I have several cheapermoisturisers in the bathroom that I just don't use 🙄

Ambi · 15/06/2023 22:48

I love the sanctuary oil spray or sanctuary wel gel. I need quick too or I don't bother. I think garnier also did a lotion spray that was easy to use in aloe or cocoa butter. I plan to try the Avon oil spray next.
