Body moisturiser that will make me want to use it?

I need to moisturise my body more, my legs are very flaky but I can NEVER be bothered! I have tried different creams before and also oils but was hoping to get recommendations. I am looking for something hydrating but lightweight, easy to apply, not like a paste and ideally with a nice smell too, although I appreciate this is subject to personal taste. Open to spend up to £15.

I use nuxe reve de miel body oil balm. I’ve only recently started using it every day. It makes such a difference! My skin feels so soft. I’ve always had plucked chicken legs and they’re now so smooth and much less chicken-y 😂
I’d also echo the poster above who says people use too much and feel greasy. I got a little face cream spatula because I hate the feeling of getting cream down the back of my nails. I’m odd. So I just get a little, run it along my skin and rub in. You need much less than you think.

Fancy but within your budget is Rituals Body soufflé. It comes in a tub. I like the Sakura (cherry blossom) scent, but they’re all lovely. I think it’s £16 and a little goes a long way. It’s my favourite body cream by far, including occitane (I like their almond one, but not as much as the rituals).

Cheap but absolutely brilliant for moisturising is Garnier seven day moisturiser, in the green bottle, which is the business. And I’ve tried loads. About £4-5 for 400ml so it will last you ages.

An alternative would be a shower oil, less faff?

I use aveeno too. It's light and it does the trick
I used to love one called cool
Lustre by Clinique that smelled lovely, absorbed quickly and had a cooling effect but it was bloody well discontinued and I've never found a replacement.

Garnier (in green bottle) and about £5 for a big bottle

Yes, this is the one I was referring to as well (didn’t see your post, sorry). It’s fab.

To all those who use it regularly - do you see a difference in your skin?

Yes. Absolutely.
I have very dry skin. I need to use it.
I am also taking Solgar Collagen Hyaluronic supplements and have definitely noticed a difference in my skin. I shop around to get them at the best price.

Brazillian bum bum cream. It's quite expensive but it smells so nice and lasts all day.
It's made my skin so soft. I use it everyday after I've had a shower.

Agreed. More expensive but I can’t recommend anything more for this purpose. Ren rose oil, maybe.

If you want something that will MAKE you want to use it, a sad bottle of Nivea or aveeno won’t.

morelippy · 14/06/2023 10:02

I've recently tried the sanctuary spa shower oil with their wet skin moisturiser after and found it to be rubbish. Smelled over powering and was even more of a faff doing it with wet skin and then trying not to rub it all off again while I dropped over the bathroom.

I'm now on to aveeno oil which is nice but a bit too oily for speed.. soaks in over time though so good after an evening shower. It's def improved my lizard legs

Nuxe oil is gorgeous. Silky rather than oily but doesn't last too long. I like it on my face at night time though.

Next I plan to try Aveeno creamy oil..

morelippy · 14/06/2023 10:02

Dripped, I didn't actually fall over

jellybelly22 · 14/06/2023 10:03

Body Shop body yoghurt is the only one I use regularly. It's very light and not at all greasy, plus it smells great. The mango one is my favourite :-)

BettyBoopBetty · 14/06/2023 10:13

Thanks for all these ideas! I had seen the Brazilian BB one before, pricey indeed but I get that a luxury cream feels "nicer" to use and I wouldn't be against that at all, will see if I can give it a sniff.
I need to go back to Rituals actually, haven't been in their store for years but I remember that their fragrances are quite strong and long lasting.

@morelippy thanks for the review of the Sanctuary in shower stuff.
The Aveeno creamy oil is lovely. Almond scent.
@BettyBoopBetty the Rituals Jing scent is gorgeous but I find the body spray scent doesn't last. Perhaps the body moisturiser scent is more long lasting.

Scottishlanza · 14/06/2023 10:30

For something that is easy to rub in and really moisturises try Ameliorate Transforming body lotion, not great smelling but the most effective body lotion I’ve ever used in terms of long lasting moisture.
A cheaper option is Neutrogena hydro boost body gel cream. Really rubs in easily

Vicliz24 · 14/06/2023 10:34

I swear by Fenjal body lotion it's creamy but soaks in fast and smells heavenly

WellTidy · 14/06/2023 10:44

OP, I walked past Rutuals after I posted and could see in their window a poster saying that the body cream is £15.50. I think this is quite good value as a little does go a long way. And this has prompted me to slather some on!

pizzaHeart · 14/06/2023 10:47

Aveeno + put on music or TV for extra excitement

Bearpawk · 14/06/2023 11:01

The only thing I've ever stuck to regularly is a dry oil spray as it's so easy to apply and doesn't to slimy when you sweat.
Avon skin so soft is a classic.

That or some kind of shower oil.

BunnySneezes · 14/06/2023 11:03

The Body Shop Body Yoghurts are great - the almond milk one has a nice, light scent and sinks in really quickly.

OrganicAlchemy · 14/06/2023 11:05

Nivea in shower moisturiser! £1.99 - I absolutely hated doing body moisturiser like you. I had the lush shower body condition which is amazing as well but wanted a cheaper version and the Nivea is just as good just does to have as strong a smell. My fella always mentions how soft my skin is and the effect lasts for couple of days :D

Travellingraspberry · 14/06/2023 11:07

Another vote for the body shop body yoghurts. I hate the sticky feeling you get after moisturising but these are really light and absorb quickly but still do a great job. The almond one is nice or I love the pink grapefruit if you want one with more of a scent to it

TheMurderousGoose · 14/06/2023 11:13

In shower moisturisers did nothing for me. Maybe they're worth a shot if you're not a dry skinned person though.

FlySwimmer · 14/06/2023 11:20

I’m loving the Aveeno oil at the moment - the Skin Relief one. I find it soaks in quickly but maybe I just have v dry skin. Like you OP I’m subject to lizard legs sometimes, and as I have a large scar I really need to try and keep it moisturised. I like the scent, not too strong.

Just be careful of where you spray it: I was convinced for a moment we had mould or something growing on the bedroom wall, and then I realised it was a spritz of the oil that had gone wayward! Blush

ilovemydogmore · 14/06/2023 11:22

Get one in a spray bottle - life changing! Makes distribution so much easier.
I like the rituals body oils with a spray cap.

blackberryginandtonic · 14/06/2023 11:26

Tesco cocoa butter body lotion £1.25 for 400 ml. Cheap and smells delicious.

Summerishereagain · 14/06/2023 12:30

LadyEloise1 · 14/06/2023 09:09

Sanctuary do a wet skin moisturiser. You shower.
Don't towel dry.
Apply the lotion.
Then towel dry.
I haven't used it myself ( I keep meaning to ) but perhaps other Mumsnetters have and will give their opinion.

My Mum swears by this, she is elderly with very dry skin, but I didn’t like it - it was greasy and I hated waiting around for it to dry.

CorneliaStreet · 14/06/2023 12:49

My favourite body lotion is Bath & Body Works. Tons of different scents and you can get either lotion or thicker body cream (the lotion is hydrating enough for me though). Order online from Next, but wait until they have a 3 for 2 or even sometimes 4 for 2 offer on. They’ve got concessions in some shops too.
