Victoria Beckham has great skin, how?

How to get the 'glossy' groomed look. She's transformed her skin, how? Ditto Donna Air, what's the secret? She's just radiant and neither are young.

Is it possible for the ordinary 40 or 50 something to look like an A lister? And WHAT is it, exactly, that they do that makes them look so much better with firmer jaws etc?

I agree with others I wouldn't automatically connect VB and good skin. Amanda Holden always looks like her skin is glowing.

TheFTrain · 14/05/2023 15:34

I've always said I'd never get botox or fillers but then I look at Jennifer Lopez and think I'd happily have whatever she's having done (if I had the money). I know she said it's all down to olive oil but we're not stupid.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 14/05/2023 15:38

@Peverellshire I'm struggling to think of anyone... So many have ruined their faces.

Any of us with a beautician and hair dresser on tap could look good.

Angrymum22 · 14/05/2023 15:55

And a phone with good filters.

Skin booster injections made me look I was lit up from the inside. In my case I found it wears off after 3/4 months but I was briefly glowing. I’m 51

Yes I found the same. They claim they last 6 months but definitely only 3/4 months which when they are expensive is too short a time.

Fine if you have all the money VB has.

Summerbobs · 14/05/2023 16:21

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter is incredible stuff and will give you the candle lit glow.

@CinnamonJellyBeans superficially at least she looks better, skin wise, than 95 per cent of age group.

As an aside, I admire VB’s drive & work ethic & discipline, noting those that have it game change their lives & their families lives…

Interestingly re: Donna A, @usernother did her skin ‘glow’ & I wonder if the genetically blessed do just naturally ‘glow’? Into middle age & beyond?

I can't remember if it glowed or not. But she didn't have typical teenager skin.

I think people who have had as much work done as VB often look good in photographs but when you see them in video it doesn't look right and makes them look strangely older. Youthful faces move - if your face is frozen then it won't look youthful. I also think this is why many very young women who have botox, fillers, etc, actually look older than they are - Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner both spring immediately to mind. The princess of wales used to have a very expressive face and now it is frozen stiff - yes, she is absolutely gorgeous (and far more gorgeous than I am) but I really wish she'd left her face alone.

Kate Middleton does not have a frozen face! Granted she is ageing quickly and doesn’t look 41, but she has a very expressive and beautiful face. Much more natural than VB, Trinny etc.

It’s all filters.

I’m 33 and I would look worse than that if I were caked in make up and had that face expression. Jennifer Lopez is one of very few celebrities where their age is almost unbelievable.

I can get glowing like that, if I eat clean, work out, and go to the sauna regularly. More than what you put on your skin, it’s what you do to clean yourself inside out. Nothing drastic, just good fish and proteins, vitamins, big salads and water .
Also, absolutely NO SUGAR.

I agree. Reasonably sugar free diet although I do have the odd thing. I don't drink. Don't smoke. Work out daily, drink water. SPF50 daily.
Im more surprised at how bad people skin is rather than how good mine is. Im late 50s

@gogogoji you look great! How effective was quitting alcohol? This seems to be a no-brainer for better skin but I can’t seem to do it…! I’ve cut back massively, but I’m still drinking at least once a week 😬

I was never a big drinker. I just never started up again after my first pregnancy. I might have the odd glass of champagne but more than likely not. I'm talking 1 drink every 2 years! It's not a sacrifice for me. I'm just not a drinker. I was in my youth though.

her transformation from then to now is crazy.

@gogogoji tell us more! What else do you do? Your skin looks incredible.

@gogogoji tell us more! What else do you do? Your skin looks incredible.

Any old foaming or balm face wash. Vit C morning. A very basic moisturiser if needed then Spf50. A full 1/4 tsp for face and neck.
Tretinoin evening. Just before bed I put on a rich moisturiser.

I use random eye creams. Usually whatever sample I have. Sometimes I'll add in a serum - hyaluronic or some other cocktail but ge I it's a very basic wash and moisturiser. It's the 15-20% vit c, spf50 and Tretinoin that really do the work.

I found since weight lifting my skin has got better. It was always decent but the weight lifting has really done something. I don't know what. Maybe it has a hormonal effect

BlackSwan · 14/05/2023 17:12

Thank you!

I do all those things and my skin is nowhere near as good as yours gogogoji. I’d say that’s predominantly good genes - you look amazing!

I agree that she does naturally have a very expressive face and also that she is beautiful, but she has very obviously had botox and probably fillers too.

1ittlegreen · 14/05/2023 18:00

She really doesn't, or she didn't used to anyway.

I sat next to her trying on shoes in Red or Dead about 22 years ago and I was shocked at how pock marked it was!

I mean it was really bad so I couldn't believe it was her!

She must have had some expensive laser surgery....

Probably. Genes are a massive factor for sure. I don't really have much texture. More prone to hyperpigmentation than wrinkles. I use the Tretinoin to keep the pigmentation down. After a holiday it always is a little darker even when u do my best to shade my face
