Opinions on these wedding heels?

My partner has brought me these heels for our wedding - theyve been my dream heels for ages.. but now I have them and I’ve tried them on I’m not sure I really love them.. I mean I do.. but I also don’t. I think it’s the giant pearl on the front that’s throwing me off them.

The pro’s are - they are seriously comfy heels; they have pearls which match my wedding jewellery.

The cons are - something about them is throwing me off.. I think it’s the big pearl, or it could be the platform.

I need help, do I keep them or sell them? I also feel guilty that DP brought them knowing I wanted them but I’m just not sure I love them in person as much as I do online 😭 I don’t wanna sound like a brat 😅

Can’t you just return them! My eyebrows shot up at the price!!! They are clunky and kinda ugly, sorry………

fruitbrewhaha · 25/04/2023 14:38

Phew, that’s quite an investment.

I think if you’re ever going to wear something dramatic your wedding day is the day to do it. What’s your dress like?

WedTheBed · 25/04/2023 14:45

@Allthenaughtydogs i think your right on the clunkyness, there are a pair the same that don’t have the platform, and some others with pearls that are nice!

@fruitbrewhaha my dress is very plain, A-line satin with a button down back to the floor. I’m wear a pearl veil and I might (haven’t fully decided) add a pearl belt.

I see what you are saying. They just look a bit off. I think it’s the big knobbly pearl on the toe.

if you don’t love them- they need to go back at that price and for such a special day.

If he surprised you with them- if it were me, i would say they hurt and you are worried about not being able to enjoy the day together. Marriage is about honesty of course- but you did want them, they aren’t a cheap shoe and if he bought them off his own bat then that’s a lovely, well meant surprise.

If he just tapped his card and you ordered/procured them, just return them. No big deal. What’s bratty about that?

viques · 25/04/2023 14:48

it is a huge plus that they are comfortable, but the negatives are the price and the fugliness. I honestly thought they were from some cut price shoe stall on the market!

viques · 25/04/2023 14:50

I see your dress is very plain, I think over fancy shoes will detract from the simplicity and elegance of your dress. Something much simpler will complement your dress, you want people looking at you, your dress and your veil, not your shoes.

catherinewales · 25/04/2023 14:52

If your not feeling it for that price I'd send them back.

TokyoSushi · 25/04/2023 14:53

I think I'd just say 'thank you so much, what a lovely thought, but actually they're really uncomfortable and I don't want my feet to hurt on our wedding day' and then return them.

Hohofortherobbers · 25/04/2023 14:54

Yes, they are damn fugly.
Send them back.

fruitbrewhaha · 25/04/2023 14:56

Well I rather like them. I think with a plain dress they will create a statement. Could you have a look at the non platform version? Or the strapless ones? Try them on with you dress if you have it or with a similar dress.

Looks like Harrods stock them.

Kvetching · 25/04/2023 14:57

They are absolutely hideous.

ALittleBitAlexa · 25/04/2023 14:59

They're not my style, but I don't think they're fugly fs. I also think a statement shoe goes nicely with a simple dress. OP if you're not going to feel happy in them on the day you need to tell him. You could say you tried them on with the dress and it doesn't go? Also with the platform and heel being so high you'll need to keep them on all day as if you change to trainers the dress will be far too long. But if you sell them you're unlikely to get near the full price for them, so it depends how important that is. If you're both loaded and frequently spend thousands on designer clothes it's not going to bother him really.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/04/2023 15:00

Fuck me, that was what we spent on our whole wedding Grin albeit a small one!

Send them back.

Chewbecca · 25/04/2023 15:02

I would want to really love them if I spent that much and was wearing them on my wedding day.

I think they could look excellent with the right dress. Can we see them on your feet?

Eranzer · 25/04/2023 15:04

They're gorgeous except the huge pearl! Wtf, why?!

WedTheBed · 25/04/2023 15:04

@ALittleBitAlexa thats a really good point about the dress being too long, as I plan to change into crocs for the evening 😂

I did mention to DP that I’m starting to doubt them and explained I loved them online and in person they’re just not giving me the same feeling and he understands - I think he’s just disappointed that he thought he had surprised me with my dream shoe.. that turned out not to be my dream shoe! He didn’t get it wrong though, I did 😫

I think we’ll sell them .. We’ve had them too long to return but they look to be holding close to their value online.

YouNeverSeeTheRealMe · 25/04/2023 15:05

They're very ugly. In any other colour, they'd look like something a prostitute or stripper might wear.

xogossipgirlxo · 25/04/2023 15:22

Pole dancer heels, sorry.

LadyKenya · 25/04/2023 15:26

There are classier shoes out there, saying that, they may look better without the giant pearl stuck on top.

Sunny24 · 25/04/2023 15:39

All that money and they couldn't even sew the pearls on the heel in a straight vertical.

Laiste · 25/04/2023 18:37

In the Harrods link there's pics with them being worn. They look better on ...

Candleabra · 25/04/2023 18:38

They’re awful. They look like something decorated by a child for a project. Sorry.
I can think of so many better ways of spending £1600.

Umbellifer · 25/04/2023 18:45

They look really good on, just don’t work without feet in them … are you not feeling it with them on @WedTheBed or just when you’re looking at them on their own?

Candlesandflowers · 25/04/2023 19:57

Ohh I seem to be in the minority but I love them !!! And I think the contrast with a plainer dress would work really nicely. Can you try your dress on with the shoes bedore you make a decision?

dontgobaconmyheart · 25/04/2023 20:18

I always get rid (return) anything that I'm not 100% sure about and think you'd be best of doing the same OP - find something that you feel fully happy with and recoup as much of the cost as possible by selling them. All I'd say is next time don't sleep on the returns window, and certainly now with something that highly priced.
