Opinions on these wedding heels?

My partner has brought me these heels for our wedding - theyve been my dream heels for ages.. but now I have them and I’ve tried them on I’m not sure I really love them.. I mean I do.. but I also don’t. I think it’s the giant pearl on the front that’s throwing me off them.

The pro’s are - they are seriously comfy heels; they have pearls which match my wedding jewellery.

The cons are - something about them is throwing me off.. I think it’s the big pearl, or it could be the platform.

I need help, do I keep them or sell them? I also feel guilty that DP brought them knowing I wanted them but I’m just not sure I love them in person as much as I do online 😭 I don’t wanna sound like a brat 😅

The platform and chunkiness of the heel makes them look cheap. Sorry OP I'm not keen.

Groggygymdodger · 27/04/2023 09:16

Why sell and not just return?

I also think they are tacky, sorry

HomelessAngua · 27/04/2023 09:31

They are fabulous and would work wonderfully well with a simple dress.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 27/04/2023 09:33

I kind of like them. But I don't feel £1500 worth of like for them. They kind of look like a 7 year old's drawing of a fancy shoe.

cathyandclare · 27/04/2023 09:34

I think they look fabulous on

LiliLil · 27/04/2023 09:37

I hated them in the picture you posted but love them actually on feet in the other pics.

BreviloquentBastard · 27/04/2023 09:38

They're a bit... Panto? If that makes sense? Not for me at all, I do think it's that stonking great pearl on the front. But if you love them that's what's actually important.

If you're spending that much money on shoes though I think it has to be absolute love LOVE, rather than just "they're ok I suppose".

Wallabyone · 27/04/2023 09:40

I love these shoes, my husband almost bought them for my 40th but I went for another pair from the same designer in the end.
I think they're gorgeous, and would wear them with jeans after my wedding, but if you're not sure, then go for another pair.
Have you seen the design without the platform? Also very pretty, although is suspect not as comfortable.

RedPandaFluff · 27/04/2023 09:45

The big pearl reminds me of the pompom you often see on clown shoes Grin

Quitelikeacatslife · 27/04/2023 09:48

They do look better on the model , personally if I was spending that much I'd want some shoes I could wear again and these might be a one hit wonder

Agree. I actually like them in a mad way, but it's a nice reminder of your wedding if you can wear some elements of your wedding outfit again, and I don't think you will re-wear these, unless you lead a super boujee lifestyle.

peachescariad · 27/04/2023 10:00

Hideous

DRS1970 · 27/04/2023 10:02

They look like that have been made for someone with a mobility problem.

speakout · 27/04/2023 10:15

Sorry but I think they are dreadful- but then I lived through the 70s and remember Glam Rock.

They look like Gary Glitter shoes.

WedTheBed · 27/04/2023 11:59

I found a picture of when I tried them on - do they look better on? I do really love the shape, and I find it easier to walk in a chunky heel and platform to be honest. But what giant pearl is wrecking it for me still I think..

I think they look cute on you (love Mickey Mouse's shocked expression!) but I suppose you just need to decide whether you like them enough. It's one thing to keep a £100 pair of shoes you're meh about but £1500 is a different ball park.

TheNachtzehrer · 27/04/2023 12:30

They're... an acquired taste.

I wouldn't particularly want everyone to be staring at my feet on my wedding day. Especially if they were privately wondering if I'd had a stroke.

I think you know already if this kind of balls-out conspicuous designer style is your bag and if it isn't, send them back.

Coast have these for £70, and they're near identical. I'd buy these and get a really amazing handbag from mulberry or something

I’m no more knowledgeable about what strippers and prostitutes wear than the next Mumsnetter, but these cheaper ones look at lot cheaper and more likely to be worn by a stripper.

I mean the average demographic of MN is circa 50+ years old and I'm not one to ask my mum for fashion advice!

I love these, amongst all the borrowing plain white, silk wedding shoes these are fun! Will they be visible from under your dress? I'm not keen on the big Pearl at the front similar to you. I like the platform though! There are lots of brands with similar fun styles though if you're not too sure on these.

strawberryfluff · 27/04/2023 12:44

They are so gaudy. If you like that then sure go for it.

These look like cinderella shoes and the ball is so obviously a statement I find these acceptable

LadyOfTheCanyon · 27/04/2023 12:45

I love a decorated shoe but I'm not going to lie, they look like the shoes you can get for £15 in the "£20 and under" shops on my high street.

Can you actually walk ok in them? Platforms are an acquired skill in my opinion, especially at that height. I see too many women staggering around in heels they can't manage, and whilst it's forgivable on a night out, I think your wedding day is one when most women want to a have a modicum of elegance.

I'm not suggesting you just wear a plain court shoe, just that there might be a middle ground.

Alternatively- and I do mean this sincerely - buy some fabric glue and some pearls/ hemisphere pearls from an online Haberdashers and make them yourself. That way you can choose the style of shoe you want and get the same effect for about £50.

Would you wear them again or will they just go in the loft with your wedding dress after the wedding? All things to think about.
