How often do you take a selfie if you think you are looking good?

I don’t often take them, but took one as I think that today’s outfit and general look ( including my hair) just worked! Doesn’t happen hence the selfie.

To be honest...never. I'm not a teenager.
Glad you're feeling good about yourself today though.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 03/04/2023 17:12

Never, unless to actually send to someone (probably my mum 😂). Selfies are weird.

[I am 55 though....]

6namechang3 · 03/04/2023 17:15

I take one most days to do Be real with daughter ( she is my only be real friend). I look awful on everyone but it's a nice way to keep in touch with her whilst she is away. She looks fabulous on every one, no make up, old sweatshirt etc, the joys of youth!

Mercurial123 · 03/04/2023 17:19

Never

zeldarubinstein · 03/04/2023 17:20

Never, I'm a fully grown adult (late 40s)! That said I do have certain friends the same age who post pouty selfies pretty much every day which I find very attention seeking.

AllOfThemWitches · 03/04/2023 17:23

Never, I don't have social media and why would people want to look at pics of me anyway?

Calculater · 03/04/2023 17:25

I've only ever taken selfies when I had to e.g for the NHs app. I've been in a few group selfies, the odd times I've taken them they've been awful so I leave them to people who seem to know what they're doing now.

GlassBunion · 03/04/2023 17:28

Never.

Kissedbyfire1 · 03/04/2023 17:32

Never.

Niftythrifter · 03/04/2023 17:40

Well I have come from avoiding mirrors and dodging photos to taking them as a self confidence thing. More than often than not they are purely for me. I don’t take pouty ones they are normally full body shots.

Most days. Zooming in with my reading glasses on is the only way I can be sure my eyeliner is on straight!

AgathaMystery · 03/04/2023 17:41

Never.

grayhairdontcare · 03/04/2023 17:46

I've never taken a selfie or photographed food.

fellrunner85 · 03/04/2023 17:49

Never. It's a really strange thing to do IMO.
My brain just doesn't work that way - "oh I've got dressed, done my makeup, looking good, let's take a photo." Would feel bizarre to me.

JaneFondue · 03/04/2023 17:51

Never.

DramaAlpaca · 03/04/2023 17:54

I take a selfie ccasionally when I come out of the hairdresser. I don't share them though.

MyBloodyMaryneedsmoreTabasco · 03/04/2023 17:55

There were practically no photos of me and DD when she was little, so I started taking selfies of us so she'd know I existed if I died. Other than that, occasionally so I can check I haven't got food in my teeth if I've eaten lunch somewhere with no mirror.

PrinceHaz · 03/04/2023 17:56

Loads. I’m in my 50s and I only now know how to do my make up. Don’t post them though.

Usernamen · 03/04/2023 18:45

Honestly never (I’m 33).

I’ve posted the odd photo on social media with other people / taken by someone else, but I’d feel like a complete tit posting a selfie.

My friendship group are kind of ‘over’ social media now.

I’ve taken to unfollowing anyone who just posts selfies all the time.

I don’t mind people’s holiday photos (love them for inspiration, in fact), but I don’t want my instagram to be full of close-ups of people’s faces which are no doubt touched up, and where I know or have met the person IRL, look nothing like them anyway.

When I saw an influencer at a Pilates class I was positively thrown by how different she looked. The terrible thing was her page at the time was all about her getting her body back post partum but her selfies showed her to be so much slimmer than she actually was IRL. 😑

MetaDaughter · 03/04/2023 19:15

Surely the thread title said ‘take a selfie’, not ‘post a selfie’?

I’ve done the latter once in my life! But I’m not above taking my own photo if I think an outfit looks nice, or if I’m in an interesting place, purely for my own satisfaction.

GeneHuntsCowboyBoots · 03/04/2023 19:19

I take the odd one, but probably because I never feel like I look good very often so I take a snap of my face, particularly if my skin’s looking good too. I never post them on anything though.

I hardly ever take any photos but my SIL takes and posts them all the time and it makes me cringe. Not so much the group photos if we’re out, which is nice for memories, but she goes overboard. Takes a picture of everyone’s food - that sort of thing - and then numerous pictures of the same things.

TheOGCCL · 03/04/2023 19:25

I take them quite a lot and have done for years. Just for me though!! It's handy to look back and see the state of my skin or what hairstyle I had and what I liked/disliked about my appearance to either do more of it or not repeat mistakes.

ChicoryDip · 03/04/2023 19:37

Never.

But I seem to be the only person in the world that is unable to take a flattering selfie. I see people doing it all the time and looking good. The only time I try to do it the camera wobbles, my fingers can't reach the button, I'm staring weirdly in the wrong direction and it shows up all my bad bits from a funny angle. Oh, and anything interesting in the background is pretty much invisible.

ScentOfAMemory · 03/04/2023 19:40

I've never taken one, as above, because I'm not 14.
