How often do you take a selfie if you think you are looking good?

I don’t often take them, but took one as I think that today’s outfit and general look ( including my hair) just worked! Doesn’t happen hence the selfie.

I did quite often in my 40s but now in my mid 50s very rarely! Like a pp said, the photo never looks as good as I think I do 😂
Cameras in phones are so much better than they used to be aren't they? There's no slightly soft focus to hide the unsightly details 😂

Literally never but today I did look in the mirror and say out loud to myself “goddammit illterato. You’re still pretty hot for a woman your age”. Then I felt all pleased even though I literally said it to myself 🤣🤣🤣

Don’t see what peoples issues are with selfies! I would never be offended by somebody posting a selfie, people need to learn to love and embrace themselves a little more and lighten up!

They are pointless to me, I really don't care what anyone else does.

Never. I think selfies are utterly soul destroying unless you know how to take them. I have tried a couple of times when I needed a profile photo and I just looked like a saggy, slightly startled pug. And that was with a full face of makeup in preparation for said photo. I got DP to take one and it was much better🐶

I take them all the time. I’ve think I’ve posted like 3 on social media, but my camera roll is full of them.
dh always takes the piss asking why I take them if no one else sees them but I like looking through my nice pics. They are much better than the ghastly ones I get tagged in.
go ahead, take the selfie and ignore the haters. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking pride in the way you look

You can still take pride in the way you look without taking selfies. I take pride in my appearance and try to look after myself too, I just don't take selfies. No issue for me that you do, my point is just that people who don't take them can still take pride in themselves, it doesn't mean we don't of you know what I mean.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking pride in the way you look

I take pride in the way I look. It just never occurs to me to take photos of myself.

I take one most days to do Be real with daughter ( she is my only be real friend). I look awful on everyone but it's a nice way to keep in touch with her whilst she is away. She looks fabulous on every one, no make up, old sweatshirt etc, the joys of youth!

I never take selfies, but my dd is also on BeReal.
I love the idea that when she leaves home wemight exchange Bereal pics every day.

I'll take a selfie every now and again, most often if I've had a haircut or if I'm out somewhere pretty that will make a nice background. Never share them as I don't do social media.

Like lots of mothers I am the photographer of the family and if I didn't taken the odd selfie they'd be very few pictures of me indeed. If I went missing the police would have to circulate a grainy, slightly blurred image zoomed in from a group pub photo with mates.

If I think I'm looking good, taking a selfie is a sure fire way of bringing me straight back down to earth - so never! Largely because at my age (over 60) the best photos are taken from a distance! 😁

Just as others might be surprised that (other than wasting time here,) I have no SM presence - I’m hugely surprised that other people believe taking the odd photo of yourself is gross narcissism!

(Particularly those of you of my own generation who seem not to want to contemplate your own person at all.)

We have falling-apart albums full of family photos from my early childhood and teens - but much of my ‘personal archive’ from young adulthood has been lost, abandoned, whatever, in the churn of break ups, house moves, disaster … And then a million photos of the next generation, because we had mobiles by then. But it’s still rare for anyone else to photograph me, outside of any significant family event. Amidst all that I’m grateful there’s now a way to keep a record of myself.

I take quite a few but not to send to anyone, mainly to check my makeup/outfit/hair/gym progress and I like looking back to send what has changed.

I never do this nowadays, some years ago when my mental health was bad I used to take a lot of selfies though.

I take lots of selfies for myself (not for posting). Usually when trying out makeup etc. I don't think it's narcissistic. I find it useful information. Especially after a haircut to remember if I like it or not.

Never, if I think I look nice a sure way to utterly destroy that illusion is to take a photo 😂

I don't really wear makeup or very rarely so I usually look horrible in pics unless it's natural outside light and I'm laughing, then that's a nice photo
