HOTTER shoes- are they awful or nice?

I've found some surprisingly 'ok' trainers online, reduced, and they are Hotter. This is slightly tongue in cheek, as a friend used to joke the brand were very old lady style.

Verdict?

Also, does anyone know about sizing as they are also available in half sizes. I'm between a 5 and 5.5.

OP posts:

I had an amusing conversation after lockdown.
Took 82 year old mother in. Sales assistant says, we only stock sizes 5 and 6. We can order in anything else. I mused that it was a shame, given their elderly customers who largely just wanted to try on a few sizes and see what fits best.
I was informed that most people who buy their shoes are in fact in the 30s, 40s at a push and I was entirely wrong in my assumption. I looked around the shop and all the purcashers were 70 plus.
Twas like I was in a parallel universe there.

I like the sandals

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/03/2023 16:06

I have Hotter trainers, walking boots and 3 pairs of ankle boots in different colours. They are really comfortable and I like the colours. I don't care what anyone thinks but then I'm in my 60s and couldn't give a fuck.

😀

I've never known of anyone below 60 to wear them. I'd assume problem feet if not actually elderly.

woodhill · 10/03/2023 16:13

I wear them and my daughters do as they do narrow sandals

VenAqui · 10/03/2023 16:14

Pensioner shoes.

Fredface1 · 10/03/2023 16:19

My mother in law has hundreds of these. She's 84.

WeCome1 · 10/03/2023 16:22

Generally awful, but those boots linked to are nice.

OP, which trainers are they?

WeCome1 · 10/03/2023 16:23

These are nice I think

Zip up trainers!

Zip up trainers!

Quite widespread, I’ve seen them in ASOS, New look, Jones etc.

yomellamoHelly · 10/03/2023 16:30

I have some for work. They're really comfortable, but I do think they look a bit frumpy

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 10/03/2023 16:33

They are old lady shoes but I am an old lady so I love them! They usually have one or two styles which aren't so obviously old-ladyish. Did you share a picture so we could judge? Smile

The fit tends to be wide, not sure about length. Can you order both sizes and return one?

Apart from being comfy their soles also have amazing grip on slippery surfaces.

CottonSock · 10/03/2023 16:35

I have some boots that no-one would guess hotter.

ProfessionalWeirdo · 10/03/2023 16:40

I've had bad experiences with Hotter shoes. On two occasions the soles disintegrated when I was wearing them. A friend subsequently reported that the same thing happened to her.

Yep. Zips are everywhere at the moment. Very 90s!

Madamecastafiore · 10/03/2023 16:44

My 86 year old MIL wears them so it's a no from me I'm afraid.

PauliString · 10/03/2023 16:47

I have those, Magenta -- generously sized, and I was going to swap them for a size down but they've sold out. Debating whether to let DD kidnap them or just wear bigger socks.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 10/03/2023 16:49

I think you need to post which ones as they are... variable, to say the least!

I find it interesting that you found them generous, I'm usually a 4.5, they didn't have half sizes so I tried both the 4 and the 5. The 5 fits really well, is not too big which I would have expected.

brainstories568 · 10/03/2023 16:58

I bought some really nice boots online similar to linked above in two different sizes (I'm a half size) but unfortunately the standard fit ones were really wide and no end of socks would have sorted it so I had to return them. I thought the customer service was excellent though. I phoned twice, got through within a few rings and the ladies was really helpful. I'm in my early 30s and was very pleasantly surprised when I saw some of their boot collection after a bit of googling as Clarks have stopped making my go to winter boots where I know they fit so have previously just bought in the sales every couple of years.

ForTheLoveOfJackDaniels · 10/03/2023 17:01

I've had some ankle boots from them in the past, which were comfortable. Not the height of fashion, but suitable if you're on your feet for long periods.

However, if you need to return anything to them, their refunds process is woeful. They like to take their own sweet time to give you your money back, which has completely put me off from ordering from them again.

Lavendersquare · 10/03/2023 17:18

Some Hotter shoes are ok it depends on the size, just remember that their shoes are all wide fitting so if like me you have standard sized feet, you need to buy their narrow fit otherwise your feet will be swamped.

Schnooze · 10/03/2023 17:21

They don’t have a lot going for most of them, but I have a pair of trainers that aren’t too bad. True to size.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 10/03/2023 17:24

Ive had some of their Summer shoes because we aren’t allowed open toes at school and they are very comfy and not hideous. But, beware! I bought some flat ballet pumps in the sake and they were obviously bought in on the cheap as they had no moulded support or any structure.
