HOTTER shoes- are they awful or nice?

I've found some surprisingly 'ok' trainers online, reduced, and they are Hotter. This is slightly tongue in cheek, as a friend used to joke the brand were very old lady style.

Verdict?

Also, does anyone know about sizing as they are also available in half sizes. I'm between a 5 and 5.5.

If you can buy your shoes at a garden centre it’s a pretty good guide to how stylish they’re not.

ginnyfriend · 10/03/2023 17:47

Yep. Zips are everywhere at the moment. Very 90s!

Not like those Hotter trainers though 😀

changedusername190 · 10/03/2023 17:59

The zip trainers don't look too bad but seem so expensive. My last trainers were Ted baker £90 in the sale reduced from £130 and I think they're stylish and comfortable.
My mum wears them and I think they look awful so I can't see me ever venturing in there.

knittingaddict · 10/03/2023 18:01

I love my Hotter trainers and waking shoes. I think they look fine to me, they are well made and last longer than any other shoe I've owned.

I have those, Magenta -- generously sized, and I was going to swap them for a size down but they've sold out. Debating whether to let DD kidnap them or just wear bigger socks.

I like those too.

Chippy1234 · 10/03/2023 18:20

I love Russell and Bromley boots and their sandals BUT for comfort you cannot beat Hotter Shoes. I have walked all over New York in them when on holiday. I would not be without them and have a few pairs in black. They last very well providing you polish them up every month.

GlassBunion · 10/03/2023 18:22

I'm now, thankfully, of an age where comfort top trumps style .
My feet are awkward due to my stupid days of finding that style mattered more than comfort.

Beware of stupid footwear.

MosquitoBuffet · 10/03/2023 18:22

I bought some flat sandals in the sale, if you ignore the Velcro fastenings they're the best things ever, so comfy!!

applebee33 · 10/03/2023 18:23

They are giving nursing home but into my fashion kinda vibes. A no from me lol

GlassBunion · 10/03/2023 18:23

And yes, Hotter make some super shoes but some are designed fora more genteel customer base.
Thank goodness people like my very elderly mum can shop there.

Mochacino · 10/03/2023 18:27

I buy my mums shoes there as they have larger sizing and variable widths. I’ve not purchased anything there yet for myself (early 40s) but only because I currently live in work shoes or my running shoes both of which are very specific brands.
go for it if there’s something you like. You only get one pair of feet, look after them.

Flamingmentalcats · 10/03/2023 18:30

I love my "old lady" Hotters. I have 2 pair of flat boots for work, a pair of ballerinas, a longer pair of boots and 4 pair of trainers. They do amazing sales at the end of their seasons and I bought 3 pair for £70 a few weeks ago.
I need the wide fitting for my feet.
easy returns and good customer service, what's not to like?

caffelattetogo · 10/03/2023 18:55

I wore them in my 20s. They were great. Since I had kids in my late 30s, my feet changed and now I wear fitflop shoes. I wore doc martins in my teens. I also have some beautiful leboutins. Life is too short for uncomfortable everyday shoes.

DeadButDelicious · 10/03/2023 20:54

I live in my whisper boots from hotter, don't give a shit if they're frumpy, they fit well and are super comfy, comfort trumps style for me I'm afraid! Life's too short for uncomfortable shoes!

LuckyThatMyBreastsAreSmallAndHumble · 10/03/2023 23:06

Oh jeeze just looked at the website. They're worse than skechers!

BluebellBlueballs · 10/03/2023 23:07

Fugly-chic

This is very true.

Very true.

Milliways · 11/03/2023 08:58

I have some of their gore-tex walking shoes, they look better than some of the main camping brands as not just brown, extremely comfortable so do the job for a camping or walking trip. I need their extra wide wit too.

MerylSqueak · 11/03/2023 09:35

I have lots of problems with my feet which mean my choice is very restricted. They have the odd one or two that are ok style wise. Even my very stylish teen DD says the two pairs I have are good and I work in her school so if they weren't she'd certainly let me know.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/03/2023 10:18

My stylish friend in her forties has these, they look good on her, and are the most comfortable things ever, I am going to get some. Sandals

JoeMaplin · 11/03/2023 10:30

My incredibly stylish 80 year old mother wears them, there are some really nice ones. I’m 47 with arthritic feet, due to rheumatoid arthritis and I’d wear them too if they weren’t stupidly wide. These days comfort is important to me!

PinkVine · 11/03/2023 10:33

I think the vast majority are horrible, but they have a few gems. I have a pair of chunky biker style boots which are quite acceptable to me and whilst it may be possible to get more beautiful boots, my decision to only ever wear comfortable shoes has quite literally been life changing.

NeedNwJeans · 11/03/2023 10:49

Awful!

Flossflower · 11/03/2023 11:01

Some good some bad. Just avoid the ones with lots of velcro

ginnyfriend · 11/03/2023 11:07

They're coming up as suggestions in ads for me now Shock

To be fair to people who have foot problems, and comfort is the main objective rather than style, they're a good choice. My grandmother swears by them as I said.
Though I do like a comfortable shoe myself, and own many, but I'm just not ready for brands like Skecher and Hotter.
