HOTTER shoes- are they awful or nice?

I've found some surprisingly 'ok' trainers online, reduced, and they are Hotter. This is slightly tongue in cheek, as a friend used to joke the brand were very old lady style.

Verdict?

Also, does anyone know about sizing as they are also available in half sizes. I'm between a 5 and 5.5.

I’m 42 and I’ve had a pair of their trainers and I really liked them. Comfy! True to size. I mean they’re a bit old fashioned maybe, not exactly the Nike air force ones of the world but I don’t think they’re exactly nursing home 80 plus either… 😆😳 I think some styles are better than others. My dd aged 20 wouldn’t wear them but then I wouldn’t wear stuff she wears either!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 10/03/2023 08:28

Hotter shoes are definitely pensioner friendly, but your feet will thank you so do it anyway.

TheBirdintheCave · 10/03/2023 08:37

I'm 36 and have been wearing them for a few years at 40s re-enactment events. Hotter's styling is very hit and miss though. Some of the pairs are really nice and exceptionally comfortable. Others are very granny (but probably still comfortable) 😂 I think it just depends on the shoe. If you like it, it fits and is comfortable who cares what brand it is 😊

I got 3 pairs when the offer was buy 2 get one pair free. Trainers, low boot no heal, low boot small heel. Trainers came a bit big, low boot fit exactly and boot with heel a tad small. I’ve still got old trainers and boots, they don’t wear out, just a bit scruffy and are over 5 years old. I’ve been buying online for about 8 years now, returns and refunds are easy and customer care is good.

Awful! HTH, lol

Sagittariusrising · 10/03/2023 08:59

As @Xrays says, their trainers are incredibly comfortable and your feet will thank you, even though they're not the most stylish. I've had several pairs over the years and commute to London in them and wouldn't wear anything else now. I like the ones with goretex as they're also waterproof. I tend to buy in the sales and am a 5 which I find true to size.

I've not tried other styles of shoe so couldn't comment. I'm 54 and wouldn't wear a lot of them but some of their boots look pretty good.

All trainers are ugly. If you wanted beautiful, you'd wear a different style of shoe. You want comfortable, and they are.

LaviniasBigBloomers · 10/03/2023 09:41

They're really hit and miss. I do wear them because I have terrible feet, but only after visiting the shop in person and I edit very, very carefully. True story: a friend once asked where I'd got my shoes, I sent her the link to them on the Hotter website, she messaged back and said 'I meant the nice shoes you were wearing last night, not these fuglies.' Marketing is a very powerful thing!

Toddlerteaplease · 10/03/2023 10:08

I have some Victorian style heels. Other than that they are old person shoes.

This is very true.

Catspyjamas17 · 10/03/2023 10:13

I don't like a lot of their styles of footwear, but I have had some ankle boots from them and they are very comfortable, durable and well-made.

I don't know about Hotter trainers, but I disagree that all trainers are ugly. I've got some gunmetal Converse which are utterly beautiful in my eyes. To me, high heels are often seriously ugly and look more like a weapon than a shoe.

MrsWojadobakowsky · 10/03/2023 10:30

I wouldn't wear them and I am probably around the kind of age they are aimed at.

I noticed that they, like most other 'comfortable' footwear have memory foam insoles which make my feet hot and ache so no way would I bother with them.

Some of the styles aren't too bad, but still, no, I don't want the hassle of replacing the insoles for something comfortable which tends to change the size of the shoes.

If you like them and can wear them, go ahead and enjoy, don't worry about other people.

So1invictus · 10/03/2023 14:45

They're great, and no better or worse than other trainers in terms of style.

Magenta82 · 10/03/2023 14:47

They are all comfy, some of the styles are actually pretty good.
If you like the style then go for it.

lmnabc · 10/03/2023 14:50

My 90 year old mother and her buddies wear them. Enough said.

ginnyfriend · 10/03/2023 15:33

Awful. Unflattering but comfortable, orthopaedic type shoe worn by the elderly.

My grandmother, in her 80s, has a pair as do some of her friends and she swears by them.

ginnyfriend · 10/03/2023 15:35

My grandmother has the ballet flats in several colours, but also loves their boots. She always looks smart but I'm sure she only wears them for casual day wear.

BCBird · 10/03/2023 15:37

My ex and I popped in the schoo. I'm.a 9 so have trouble gettin shoes. I bought pair of nice patent heels but the look on his face was priceless when we went in. Ha ha. It is a bit old fashioned. I was 50 at the time. Told me the shop was far from.hot🤣

Coconut80 · 10/03/2023 15:41

You're very young to be wearing them!

MaidOfSteel · 10/03/2023 16:03

They're not 'old people' shoes! They are suitable for people who have knackered, arthritic, wide, painful feet, like me.
I've recently bought some Pavers trainers that my 21 year old niece maybe wouldn't wear, but then I wouldn't wear some of the shoes she would.
Try a few different styles, see if they work for you and, most importantly, are good for your feet!

ginnyfriend · 10/03/2023 16:04

Those don't look like biker boots! From the stability range, available in two width fittings 😀
