CB price is fluctuating on TikTok. It does make it feel a bit of a piss take to have such a variety of prices available for one product. No one is going to pay £200 after learning it was £140 for a time yesterday.

Just update the price on the website, sell them and move on.

Peridot1 · 26/11/2022 15:26

@Twinsandsome - it looks like that product was discontinued. You could try joining Caroline Hirons Facebook group and asking on there. Lots of people on there have had similar issues and discovered various things were causing it and various things worked for different people. I get sore dry eyes too from allergies and found La Roche Posay do a nice eye cream for allergies. I use the Optrex eye spray and the LRP cream.

Adventadventures · 26/11/2022 15:37

@Pinenu I agree I just don’t get TikTok sales you are right no one is going to buy it at a more expensive price unless they are desperate for it (or not aware it was on for cheaper). Also I don’t agree with the multiple pricing strategy where you get a different price depending on what social medium you use (internet , insta,TikTok) it is going to make buying exhausting in the future if you have to continually keep checking all these to get the best deal.

CountryCob · 26/11/2022 17:15

A lot of internet theory to induce customers is based on animal experiments in response to variable rewards a bit like slot machines. Maybe that explains it

I caved and got LiB for £99.50 on TikTok. I feel justified because I regularly buy 3 items that are in it and that comes to around £75.

It’s my first time buying from TikTok, I made sure it was from the actual LiB store but I’ll let you all know if/when it/what is delivered.

FYI I emailed CB about the TikTok store and they said they’ll only accept returns purchased from their website.

Is it not illegal to refuse to accept returns of anything bought online? It definitely is in he EU but I would have thought the UK would still have that in place?

Pinenu · 26/11/2022 17:55

You’d think so @OchonAgusOchonOh

This is what they said:

Please kindly be advised that we can only allow you to return the item if the item was purchased with us using our website.

Either way it put me off. I had Space NK last year and had various issues with it such as broken items, dried out makeup etc. If the same happened with CB I wouldn’t want the added stress of them refusing to deal with it due to where I purchased the calendar.

Q2C4 · 26/11/2022 18:46

Has anyone tried the Ted Baker advent calendar from Boots?

Couperi · 26/11/2022 18:51

Does anyone know what the free box is that comes with LiB? I'm tempted by that one now.

Zeeza · 26/11/2022 19:02

We are guessing the summer box or hirons. I will be disappointed of so as I actually bought both.

OP posts:
Zeeza · 26/11/2022 19:11

Not hirons. Argh. Can't remember her name.

India Knight? Think I'm going to go for it. Which will obviously mean CB then gets reduced 🙄

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 26/11/2022 19:17

Got the 12 days mygel advent for £26 on ASOS yesterday. Normally £65. Already had the cult beauty and spacenk. Cannot wait for 1 December.

Housewife2010 · 26/11/2022 19:19

No. Caroline Barnes

Couperi · 26/11/2022 19:19

Argh, I got a link from CB for a gwp and none of the stuff I would buy is in stock! Grrrr. The advent calendar is excluded from spend towards the threshold.

Dailymash · 26/11/2022 20:22

OK so what calendar(s) does everyone have and what are they looking forward to trying?

Me: John Lewis

  • Christophe Robin purifying salt scrub
  • Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow palette
  • Neom Organics scented candle (I’ve already removed the pillow spray and have started using it, it’s brilliant)

I guess what that means is you would need to return to the seller, unless the seller is outside the UK or is a private seller. That's assuming the UK still has the distance selling regs.

I definitely wouldn't chance it either.

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · 26/11/2022 20:48

@Dailymash I've got Next, and so far it's my only one as I've resisted any sale purchases for now (though a bit tempted by LIB). I've skipped M&S this year, but will follow the opening thread anyway cos it's fun 😀

If I do give in to any on sale it'll be a jadvent. Are there any decent but not too pricey perfume calendars still available?

I have deliberately not looked at the contents since buying it weeks and weeks ago, but who know it has nail and lip colours in that I'm looking forward to.

InfinityOrUndefined · 26/11/2022 21:09

NAP 30% off. Now £182

Dailymash · 26/11/2022 21:21

@JustWhatIAlwaysWanted I usually get M&S too but this year fancied a change as the contents were similar to previous years. I’ve been regularly checking the contents of the JL one and getting excited 🤣

Me = JL (bought at discounted price and with the winter skincare GWP)

DD1 (teen) = The Body Shop Ultimate calendar (2021) bought from Brandalley

DD (teen) MAC - this is actually a combined Christmas and birthday gift - Christmas baby - and will be opened as her main gift on December 25. It just seemed sensible given the cost/value ratio to buy a make-up packed calendar than individual items. Plus, DD absolutely loves surprises so it will be a win-win.

My favourite products from the JL calendar are:

  • Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C cream (after all these years, I think I may have found my holy grail moisturiser).
  • Augustinus Bader Rich Cream (used as a night cream)
  • Charlotte Tilbury palette (I’m not a big make-up wearer but I am going to make an effort for Christmas drinks/parties etc. And the case is a thing of beauty)
  • Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower Oil - I use this in the shower and it is heavenly and so good for my more mature skin
  • MAC lipstick - a little paler than my usual slick of raspberry lippie but it makes a lovely change
  • Neom candle - I positively love NEOM and have a pod in every room of my house, bar the bathroom. It’s always a happy day for me when I find discounted NEOM candles in my local TK Maxx; I also find QVC great for NEOM bargains

Wow! JL has been great and there are plenty of other products I’m loving but have forgotten off the top of my head. I’ve been doing Nadvent (ie opening my calendar in November 🙈).

Passmeaplacard · 27/11/2022 07:06

I have Liberty, JL and last years Body Shop from Brand Alley yet I still find myself checking Cult Beauty daily to see if the price has dropped. It’s so addictive!
In my defence I’m very good at using the products and if I won’t I give to friends and family or sell bits on eBay
Beauty products make me happy

ajandjjmum · 27/11/2022 07:19

Had a notice this morning that Elle is down to £99 - not sure if that's a new offer. I've got this for DD for the past few years, but thought she might fancy a change this year. Tempting though!

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 27/11/2022 08:56

I've got CB and spacenk and I can't remember most of what's in it so will be a nice surprise. I have had the eye mask out of the CB one (DH retrieved it for me) as was having problems sleeping and an eye mask was recommended but I didn't want to buy a silk one when there was one waiting for me.
