General chat about beauty advent calendars.

That's odd. I have an alert set for that one and i didn't get an email to say it was back in stock. It must have come and gone quick, it's out of stock again.

My H got me CB to cheer me up after the Selfridges disappointment. I’m delighted but feel a tinge of annoyance as I was determined not to give them 175 for a damaged calendar.

I plan to put it away for next advent. Does anyone know if there is anything in it that won’t keep until next year?

I opened Harrods app and now it says my account has been blocked because of suspicious activity!

@Pinenu thats so sweet of him! Umm I’m pretty sure there’s a supplement which will likely expire before then. And there is a full size vitamin c product but I had a look and it’s a stable form of vit c with a shelf life of upto 3 years so I think you’re good. I’d check the supplement though.

Have you heard back from Selfridges?

Harrods didn't have enough fragrances in to tempt me. But at least they reduced by a half decent amount.

Nothing yet from Selfridges. I don’t feel very hopeful about them sorting it. Last year I had Space NK and a couple of items had dried out, they sent random substitutes like a foot cream for a mascara. I worry Selfridges will have a similar approach. I’d rather not return it (and wonder if they’d just sell it on to someone else like that) but will if they’re difficult.

@spidersenses ... I had an email saying it was back in stock at 7.42 this morning ...had it on an alert and on my wishlist ...I have an alert for the perfume one but thats not back in stock unfortunately

My LiB from the Tik Tok shop just arrived so I’ve caught up on days 1-4. It’s very heavy and with so many full sizes, is one I’ll definitely look out for next year. I’m very impressed with this one. Can now delete the Tik Tok app!!!

I luckily managed to get the perfume one. HN had some nice fragrances in too. Main Harrods one didn't have enough products I really wanted.

I had the Champo Pitta shampoo and conditioner yesterday in Harrods. I have found going through menopause terrible for my hair..,it was always silky, now like straw and flat. I’ve only used it once and it’s amazing the difference! I’m going to do a couple of more washes to see how it fares and then purchase full-size dependent on results. It does not lather like a normal shampoo and I was a little concerned whilst washing, but it turned out really well. Fingers crossed for consistent results

Liberty tomato candle today smells exactly like my greenhouse in summer, makes a change from the normal scents.

Please ignore my rather inconveniently placed advent calendar (I moved it earlier whilst dusting and I'm too full of Christmas chocolate and booze to be bothered to move it back atm 🤣) just finished Scrooged and came across the end of this on channel 4. It should be on channel 4s catch up soon

Selfridges got back to me and have been fantastic. They gave a refund with no messing about.

Comparing that to how Space NK handled things last year when lots of us on here had issues (eg dried mascara), I’m very impressed with Selfridges.

Also my BM is on the way! Yay!

I absolutely love Flannels. Glossybox is good too for half price. I’ll give some of the things from that to my younger friends.

That’s good @Pinenu. A poster on the general advent calendar opening thread is having a bit of a nightmare with F&M. A whole row of drawers empty and they aren’t being overly helpful. Sending a replacement but want the original one back and will collect but not til Friday and in the meantime she shouldn’t open any other drawers. She just wants the products she is missing but they are making it quite complicated.

Haven’t received my Look Fantastic calendar at all!

I’ve just read that @Peridot1 It’s a completely unnecessary way to go about things isn’t it, sounds like there’s not even an apology. Hopefully it’ll all be sorted quickly but it does put me off buying from F&M. I’m feeling very fortunate to have had a smooth resolution with mine.

Not as bad as Harrods! They wouldn't even collect my faulty calendar. I had to take it to the post office and pay for Royal Mail tracked return. I still haven't received a refund for either the calendar or the postage, despite sending them the receipt last week!

They wouldn't send me out a replacement either!

Twitter. Loads of tweets responding to every tweet they put up about anythng. There normal customer service is crap. You need to be publicly vocal to get them to do anything.

Same happened to me 2 years ago. I order when it was first open to order. They eventually shipped it. It got lost. They shipped another. It got delayed. They gave me €50 compo for the delay. It got lost so they refunded me. It eventually turned up on December 14th. I had at that stage bought an edit from CEW which I topped up with a few other bits and filled an old calendar.

@MidnightMeltdown that's dreadful. I would expect better customer service from them.

I won’t be buying from them. I’m starting to develop quite the list of places to avoid.
