I want a good one for lining my top lid

Want to go MAc shopping so look forward to some good recommendations

clarinsgirl · 29/01/2008 19:56

I love love love MAC. Current fave is surreal.

Not sure of the scoring methodology but stays in place forever and looks fab...
surreal here

Sparkletastic · 29/01/2008 19:57

benefit creaseless cream shadow in sparkling champagne. £13 from benefitcosmetics.co.uk.

So easy to apply (I use finger not fancy brush), lasts all day, really doesn't crease, and is a fab not too shimmery neutral that is good for whole lid / below brow coverage. One of the very few products that I buy time after time - am a make-up tart about most other things...

Pennies · 29/01/2008 19:59

Another vote for Mac here. Was a no. 78 fan but have had some dud ones recently so tried a Mac one for a change and just love the stuff. Amazing choice of colours too. I use Brulee (a cream colour) and Copperplate (Soft brown, almost grey).

Pennies · 29/01/2008 19:59

Sorry, was a No.7 fan.

Lizzylou · 29/01/2008 20:02

Love Mac too,
My favourite shades at the moment are Mink Pink (light and subtle for daytime) and Vex (a pearlised pale green/grey).
Stay put forever, easy to apply and worth the £10/12.

CaptainCod · 29/01/2008 20:04

fave colour is moons reflection here btu tbh its SO strong i can only wear on a night out. simnilar is htis one that 100times foudn me here
i find whatever colours suit you in clothes often work in shadows.

fave every day shade is a per una(!) one that is a dirty purple grey - a fave shade for my colouring. its not online but is not a lot of ££ - ill have to check the price out, the finish on it is ok.

brushes make a huge diff - i haev tow mac ones, one bushier one for hte frost colour highlighter i put on brow bone adn inside socket( have tiny eyes) then a smaller one for colour ( the mac " fluff" brush)and a wedge one if i am doign UNDER the eyes wiht shadow.

OP posts:
CaptainCod · 29/01/2008 20:06

estee lauder pure colour in eggplant

Dusky aubergine (nah, really? that goes well with greeny grey eyes. Has lasted for ages, costs £14 now but was £10 when I got it (sod the germs that are in it). It colour builds up gradually but has great staying power, end up rubbing my eyes a lot after looking at a pc all day at work and stays a lot longer than other eyeshadows.

Other ones are every single Bourjois eyeshadow I have ever bought bourjois

Got them in a couple of browns, silver glitter and black glitter, have one in a dark glittery khaki which is now discontinued (sob) so am ekeing it out. Think Bourjois definitely best quality for the price, so much so can't justify to myself buying more estee lauders.

CaptainCod · 29/01/2008 20:32

egg plant soudns liekt he per una on i have
also green eyes

foxinsocks · 29/01/2008 20:33

I am bad and this and only wear it for evenings out and the like but I love the palettes from No.7 with the 3 colours in.

I like the 'storm' one (think it's called that) with black, charcoal and light grey and a purply/grey one with purply grey, dark lilac and a v light lilac.

CaptainCod · 29/01/2008 20:33

i wish mac did one the same shade tbh

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 29/01/2008 20:33

bad at this

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/01/2008 20:36

Smokey looking purple think looks great with green eyes. Plus this estee lauder one is non-glittery, so don't end up looking like Krystal Carrington. Funnily enough think khaki green looks great with green eyes too, didn't think it would but makes my eyes look brighter.

Cod you're lucky you've got boys - my dd has started pinching all my stuff!

CaptainCod · 29/01/2008 20:37

yes ill tlel you though turq suits me too - weird but tr- ooooooooooo

OK I have two but one is no longer available so I need a substitute for when it runs out. It's a Benefit loose powder, it's sparkly black. I apply it in a thick line round my eyes with a thin brush. I've had it for about 5 years and I am not even half way through it.

The other I have recently bought. I don't know the colour name but it is Chatecaile and is a dark goldy green. It was about £22 from Space NK.

clarinsgirl · 29/01/2008 20:38

My 2.9 DS loves MAC - especially the foundation brush and steals it at every opportunity

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/01/2008 20:40

Ooh chantecaille - dark goldy green sounds lovely. Me and dd love space nk - she sees the Nars stand and thinks she has died and gone to heaven (she is still young enough to have to be told not to stick her fingers in the palettes in posh shops though!)

I like turquoise too, but only in summer with a tan, would look harridan like in the winter.

Sunshinemummy · 29/01/2008 20:44

It is lovely, although definitely for a night out. Apparently MAC do a similar colour too.

foxinsocks · 29/01/2008 20:59

my other faves are the urban decay strip (bluish silver) and crash (the eggplant purple) (think the greys look better on me though).

you have to scroll for the colours

CaptainCod · 30/01/2008 08:31

swoon atr crash

I think the best ones are Mac. My favourite is a mauve-grey colour. They last for ages, so I think £10 is quite good value.

I tried the Bourgois ones but I found them a bit scratchy, although the colour seems to last quite well.

I also like the No 7 ones, especially various lovely auberginey shades.

Clinique ones feel nice but don't seem to stay on very well in my experience.
